The things i won't ever eat are humans, cats, dogs and embryos of any species. Except from that as long as it's well cooked... i sugest you to try the capibara it's very tasty
@shisoyrown I'm sure you are right, however, even so called "ordinary" foods can turn me off if the "look" or "texture" doesn't appeal to me and I'm rather timid when it comes to food. You mentioned embryos and we just returned from the Philippines where cooked duck eggs with embryos were being sold along the road. The locals were slurping them up! Thanks for watching and commenting. Best regards, Travels With Sheila
@XXplaythegamesXX They most certainly are. Probably tasty but I just couldn't bring myself to try it. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment.Best regards, Travels With Sheila
@Incredibility565 well thats my fuckin opinion if you dont like it too damn bad :) i dont give a fuck if its ur country ppl over here are poor too bt they dont do that shit n dont write back to this cuz im not gonna keep arguing with sum 1 not with my time :) BYE BITCH!
Hey,don't be hate on indigenous foods. It is from these foods that we are able to enjoy our culinary delights. The connection of meat and nature has been severed by modern approaches to cooking. That's why the grill still rocks.
I'm a Minahasan myself and not really into this kind of extreme food.Yes. it's considered extreme for many of us.
btw..as strange as it might sound, the reason this kind of market exists is because we're actually really careful about what we eat. We don't want to eat poisoned dogs or "city rats" (the "skewered rats" has distinctive shape and color and they live in the jungle). Furthermore, Minahasan food is mainly about the spices. Sometime I think the meat is actually supplement fo the spices.
mmm well I like manadonese food.. not all bat n dog that hardly ever gets served anyway.. I been reassured that I have never eaten dog... Dog meat is darker in colour. how animals are treated there,, I have been to the bitung zoo (animal shelter).... not a very nice place.... And about the dogs again, they just roam the streets just like the chickens especially in the villages. Any way.. tidak apa apa selamt makan orang di watatumouw dan orang di kombi! Saya cinta Indonesia!
@JEFFFALL Yes, I am the woman in the video and you are welcome to call me ignorant and I freely admit that I am uneducated in Sulawesi style food. However, loved Sulawesi. Regards, Travels With Sheila
@JEFFFALL well said, I think us style battery farms where caged, steroid and growth hormone pumped cows, chicken and pigs who cannot turn full circle, being electrocuted by the tens of thousand in 24hr automated killing factories is probably more to her taste...as long as its all hidden eh? those Indonesians should have trashed her camera...
I respect anyones right to eat and enjoy whatever food they like. I wouldn't go for that being vegetarian, but it is very interesting to see what people eat around the world. Things we look at as unusual o strange are probably quite delicious, it's just the thought of it putting others off. I don't eat meat as I don't like the taste.
@travelwithsheila.....please do not provoke others 2 see this side of indonesia only. culture like this only happen in eastern indonesia, like papua, sulawesi/celebes, not in the whole entire of indonesia. even indonesia is the biggest moslem country in the world, but mostly people in there are not moslem. we moslem not eat that. but thats what make me proud to be indonesian, coz we unity in diversity..
@alvian2aisyah You should be proud to be Indonesian. Had a great time there and did try to point out that this was an isolated area and I don't think you ever heard me put down people for eating these foods. If people want to eat dog, no problem. However, videos would be very boring if I didn't show some of the food diversity in the world. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Best regards, Sheila
@travelswithsheila ....yes i'm proud to be indonesian. i know u dont intend to discredit n put down indonesian people n i also not hear u saying bad thing bout indonesia, but since this video, so many convey a negative opinion. n i dont like 2 read that negative opinion. but i will thank u if u not only put this video, there's a lot of indonesia food to tell. but i thank u anyway to discuss indonesia food in this video. best regard from indonesia..., alvian
@travelswithsheila first of all Im Torajan who live in Canada. Many torajans go or study abroad. Toraja is not isolated area, you are completely wrong. You will see brand new european, japanese or even american car in there. You will see some franchise western food too. If we do our tradition doesnt mean we are "Isolated". And Yes we proud with our culture and will keep it. Toraja is another tourist destination after Bali in indonesia. Many foreigners visit us to see our culture
@Anthony1x11 So sorry that you misconstrued what isolation means to me. I know your traditions and modern way of living are completely separated. Please keep in mind that these are amateur videos just meant to inform people as I move on the run without the luxury of reading through or having a script of what to say or verbal usage. ex-Marine (husband, Steve) and I enjoyed it immensely. Thanks for taking your time to watch and give your thoughts. Best regards, Travels With Sheila
@nandinito I certainly never said they were. From my standpoint, people can eat whatever they want. However, thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. Best regards, Travels With Sheila
@travelswithsheila I just asked a question, it is ok for me if you kill to eat, some people commented that they are savages, but many people in US kill for fun and they call it "sport" so Are they savages??????????????????
@nandinito - do u think- if someone is wrong- -- gives you an added edge to become double wrong-- there are proper and huumane ways of slaughtering- just like you operate yourself and doctor clinic-- why dont we practice those rules for the helpless animals while slaugtering them-- why dont we teach people to adopt those methods-- and belive me- it does not take any taste away and is not expensive as well.
well to us Americans we find this a bit overwhelming, but the one thing I must say about other cultures...they do not waste any part of their meat products. The animal is NOT killed in vain. I could never see myself eating cat or dog by choice, that's just my opinion. But I cannot condemn other cultures of what they eat, although it's sad to see.
I appreciate your comment. But things like dogs and cats are part of the food chain. Only certain humans (in the west mainly) have attributed to them a bigger status to other animals. But the truth remains these are still part of the food chain.
Of course this is how they survive and I love pork! It just smelled pretty bad in the intense head, and I'm not thrilled watching the actual butchering. Sorry, I like my food already wrapped in Saran Wrap.
Bat has sort of a fish taste, Dog is like eating pork fat, snake is well...like chicken, but i heard about Sulawesi people eating cats, i wanna try that!.
