Machete is really a bad ass film. From beginning to end its a guy film in every sense of the word. Danny Trejo did a superb job acting in this film and when backed up with Jessica Alba, Robert De Niro, Michelle Rodriguez and more its a amazing movie and I know Robert Rodriguez tries to cheap out on some stuff to save budget this time it seems like he went all out. 9/10

Why is it that, besides Machete being a B-Grade Mexploitation flick, with every excuse to contemporise the genre, that this flick FAILS!! I wanted desparately to like it, and in parts I do. What bothers me is the amount of DIGITAL manipulation. Take Re-Animator, a deliberatley cheesy Horror flick, the effects lovingly invented..this is SUPERIOR. The recent Black Dynamite Baxploitation has balance and direction.Machete is so wrapped up it suffocates on its own vomit, and even that is digital.

If Inception was the good summer movie that made you think, then Machete would be the exact opposite. I like this movie because it is what it is: Senseless violence. It doesn't promise much more than that, and what red blooded male doesn't enjoy senseless violence from time to time? I know I do. Thats also why we have video games like GTA. In my opinion, this is the best action gore movie I've never seen before. I saw this before Grindhouse. When I saw commercial's of this film on TV, I thought it's just gonna be another Commando cliche action film. When I saw this in theatres, I was blown away. I didn't expect so much gore & hilarious moments in this film. If I have to rate this movie, the first time I saw it, I gave it 4.5 stars. I have this on Blu-ray, I would give it a 3.5 stars as well. But it's deffinetly worth watching.

@BUSSECOMBAT Machete does have some similarities with the Kill Bills, but it has a lot less impact. QT built stronger characters and a thicker plot in the Kill Bills, Machete was a lot more spontaneous and action packed. When Danny Tejo wasn't chopping people in half, this seemed like a low budget comedy to me. I was slightly disappointed with it. The action was good, but it had a lot of potential and I think Rodriguez went too far into his typical cheesy movie style.
