@danglekicker -- I dunno about that, I think they lost their way a bit (it wasn't because of the loss of Richie, though that was a serious blow). Despite a few obvious crossover pop-reaches, COMMODORES 13 was an all-around good album and still sounded like "The Commodores". NIGHTSHIFT on the other hand... sounds so much like "1985" it's not even funny. Losing Thomas McClary and limiting Ron LaPread's duties was the real deathblow.
