I have been taking the shot for 10 years and I had no problems.

I have not gained any weight and my doctor says my bones are fine.

I don't smoke and eat lots of healthy foods.

That's just my experience.

Ignorance is only bliss for lazy people that do not want to educate themselves. I was a very athletic and thin person when I started to get the shot. I gained 50 lbs in less then a year. I worked out more and more and the weight kept coming. After being off the shot for eight years and thousands spent on personal training, nutritionist and medical bills; I can still not undo the effects of this horrible birth control. It really is poison.

@AshleyKitty00 actually, you're kinda dumb. I work out more than an hour a day, and eat healthy. I never touch any form of fast food. (I'm also a vegetarian.) If anything, I under-eat.

I've been at the same weight for the past 3 months (since starting depo). Haven't lost one pound. Mind explaining to me how that's scientifically possible? Excuse me but, I'm not a fat-ass. The shot is devil-made, not all people who complain about the weight gain do nothing.

my doctor is advising i have this as other contaception is not suitable for me but i am only 27, have 3 kids so i dont want anymore so in this case it prob will be long term. I am now not sure. I want to get steralised but i am too young.??? i took the injection when i was a teen & i bleed a lot. Think i best reconsider my options. All contraceptions do come with risks

My mother forced me to take this. And no matter what side effects the dr mentioned she still said i am still taking it until after I got married. Well i experienced so many bad things I gained 20 lbs and on my wedding day she made me wear a size A bra to make me look skinny. And all I did was cry tht day.

But after I done my research (which i'm glad I did) i'm definately NOT getting the shot. I'm switching the nuva ring since I can't remember to take the pill on time. Safer, much better option.

DEPO IS THE DEVIL'S HORMONE! lol Im skinny and i was actually losing weight during my 6months on it. Now that im off it, im gaining my weight back. No i havent changed my activity level. I Never exercise just naturally skinny i guess! But I decided to get off the shot once MY HAIR STARTED FALLING OUT & I WAS SPOTTING FOR 6 MONTHS STR8! My hair got suuuuuuper thin, everytime i ran my fingers through it, it was shedding massive! Never had that happen prior to depo.

I took this shot since I was 16. I stopped at 29. I idn't gain much weight at all because I kept active. I didn't bleed at all, and now at age 30 I am pregnant. I had hoped it would have made me sterile, but I guess I was wrong.

With any drug, this will effect everyone diferently. Some women will not stop bleeding (if you don't I sugest you stop getting the shot). It takes approx. 1 year for your body to return to normal ovulation. If you really want a kid go to a ovulation calculator

with the shot i've gotten so sick i've taken it for going on 9 months and it makes me so sick if my doctor would have told me the affects and how long it would take to become pregnant afterwards i would have never got the shot. My doctors never told me any of this! I went in to get a diaphragm because I didn't want to be on hormones and they said they didn't know how to size them anymore and put me on this CRAP.

theres nothing wrong with u it took me a year and a half to get pregnant after stopping the shot. it stays in your system that long it also shrunk my ovaries. but eventually i did get pregnant dont worry youll concieve

i went on this needle in 2007 & i have been trying to conceive for the longest time! i stopped taking this needle as of april 15th 2008. since than, i have had a hard time conceiving. i mean, this needle works good if you don't want a baby. but if you want a child, i recommend that you stay on the patch. DON'T TAKE THIS NEEDLE! ITS THE WORST. i wonder when i can get pregnant now.. if its out of my system or not.

Maybe you should check whether you're sterile..same with your partner. Things should've gone back to normal, at the most ,a year after you stopped getting the shot; at least that's what my doctor says. It's just a suggestion though.

Im 33 years old I was on the depo-provera

over 14 years i have very bad nerve pain in my hips, dry skin sore on me my neck shoulder and spin pain gose down my back and my hips legs and feet hurt me so bad i gain alot threw the yearsi have a lot of nerveness going on i got my tuble in may of 08 ihave lost about 54 pounds it makes me feel good now but the damage is still there.. thay should band depo-provera before it hurts someone els it has done enough damage as is.

Yes, I agree. But I am under the impression the the FDA did not come out with this warning until it was too late. I am just trying to warn people that don't know b/c docs will still put you on it and leave you on it years if you want to stay on it, I know from experience. Get your bones checked!

I am 33 and have severe bone density issues due to this product. I used it over 10 years. I had my first complete DEXAscan today and will soon find out how severely my bones are damaged. I have been on oral contraceptives again now for over a year and hope that has helped. Wish me luck.
