Nekocrazychick is right. Please, don't remove this video. It's one of the most beautiful tributes to Rudy. Couldn't you just add some new music to the film portion and leave it up for us to enjoy?
@Nekocrazychick Thank you, I really must delete this from here though, since there's no longer any music.(thank you WMG!) The still is one of several old studio photo's from 'The Eagle' I bought from auction about five years ago. I've digitally removed the studio serial numbers & added the sepia. The originals are all black & white. He was wonderful, wasnt he? :D
Please, don't delete it. All one has to do in order to enjoy this vidoe is to merely listen to the music separately while watching your video. This may sound silly, but I really wish you would leave it posted. I haven't seen any other Rudlph Valentino tribute done so beautifully as yours.
You are very, very lucky to have authentic photos of an iconic legend!! I must admit, I am a bit envious.
And yes, he was absolutely stupendous!! God bless that man.
He was a beautiful man with a humor and humbleness of character, a gentleness in his real life, passion in his reel life and eyes that have to be the most mesmerizing in movie history. You could lose yourself in them and one could never forget that face...
I've always wondered why journalists and people in general always wrote (/write) cr@ap about Valentino, when everyone who really knew him has always depicted him as a wonderful person.
AND he wasn't a mannequin, he was/is one of the greaest actor in cinema history.
I have to agree with you. I think that a lot of people were jealous of Valentino and that is why they wrote what they did. Except when he was influenced by Rambova, he was a very nice person on and off the set. People who knew him spoke glowingly about him. It is a lovely videa and the music is indeed lovely.
There sure have been a lot of smears, especially on his sexuality. It crushed Valentino to be mocked by the "pink powder puff" article. The guy was a real creep, going so far to say "why didn't someone drown Valentino at birth".
Upon his depression over his divorce, his financial problems, and worries over his career, that was like a nail upon his coffin.
I would say that this is my favorite clip of Rudy. There sure was something about him on screen. I have just purchased "The Sheik", "The Son of the Sheik" and "The Eagle" and I can't wait to watch them at my leisure. I have watched "The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse" and "Beyond the Rocks" and he was no fluke as an actor. His acting improved from one year to the next and we can only imagine what would have happened if he hadn't died so young. May he rest in peace.
This is a wonderful clip!!!! Good job! If only he hadn't died so young :-( But I guess it just makes his mystique all the more stronger for us later generations!
It's pure speculation, of course, but I think rodgers7200 may have a point. No matter what Valentino's voice would have been,it probably would have only DIMINISHED, rather than enchananced his persona. My late grandfather rehearsed Valentino in his tango-act in vaudeville back in N.Y., during a period when he was fighting with his studio for more money. According to my grandfather, Valentino was a very sweet, modest, self-effacing man and they became good friends. This was really well-done! R.J.
Having read the conversation about whether this was contrived imagery, I don't know about all of that, but it was pretty hot stuff for that time period. Most love scenes are contrived, they're acted. The audience could never know motives, and emotion behind what we see on screen. Even hearing things about these actors through gossip, who knows how true some of the crap even is? I don't care. What's on screen is all you get, and for my money it's enough and pretty darn good. Thanks for posting.
Excellent. I saw your conversations prior to me, and whether contrived or not, it is splendid looking, very convincing to me. It's like Norma Desmond said, "We had faces", faces convey alot, as well as body language, where there was no spoken dialogue. Very effective indeed. Lovely, thanks for posting.
Thanks for another great rudy video! watching him always brings me to tears in the best possible way.. his expressions, his movements... everything is just so... WOW about him. 1:37 is the cutest!
Well, i love this music. I think it is composed by Clint Eastwood for the movie The Bridges of Madison County. That is a good movie. But, Rudolph Valentino is still one of the sexiest men i have ever seen. There is something in his eyes. In real life, i think he was romantic also. I would love to make love to him. Thank you for this beautiful video.
Great looking, but the romance was very carefully scripted. He was a manufactured hollywood lover. He was the best at what he did ,but most of his appeal was hype caused by the pend up emotions of women at that time.
Im sorry I do not agree. If indeed his appeal was merely caused by 'hype' of the time, then his appeal would not have endured as it most certainly has. Whatever the 'IT' factor is, it's something that cannot be manufactured and Rudy had oodles of it.
All speak only about his good looking and his appeal etc.. but it´s a fact that he developed the acting of a male main part in American film history. Emil Jannings recognised his extraordinary talent. They were friends and had many discussions about this subject ( the both perhaps best film actors at that time ).
Please understand that I too am a great fan of Valantino, but he would not stand a chance in today's 'talkie world" For one thing he had a very strong Italian accent. In silent films ,you could imagine anything you wanted to imagine about any actor you liked. Look at what happened to the great John Gilbert. When Rudy died so young & before the talkies ruined the Valantino Illusion, that is why he is so loved by so many today. This is my humble opinion & I wish not to discredit anyone.
We will never know if Rudy would have survived the transition to talkies & the question of the sound of his voice in fact depends on which account you read. But I like to think he would have made it, after all, a strong accent never did Antonio Banderas or Paul Henreid any harm, to name but two....
....& indeed, like it or not,(and the average American male of the time certainly didnt!) it was Valentino's exotic appeal that drove the ladies wild.I didnt think for one moment you intended to discredit him, your opinion is as valued as any other admirer of RV and I welcome it,I just don't agree with it! lol! :) ~ Best wishes for the New Year!
DAG-NAB-IT, I posted two comments in here and they didn't show up....**AAAARRGHHH***!!! It was SSSOOO IMPORTANT that I tell you that this was BEYOND BEUTIFUL, and it was just Heart-breaking to see and hear, so very moving. I think you're the best, & I favorited this first off!!!! I'm sorry if all of a sudden you get 3 messages from me, I just had to make sure you knew (laughs)!! Love, Me!! :oD
Im over-whelmed by your generous comments. I cant thank you enough!! I had such trouble making this one,(darn WMM software..grrr!) a real labour of love, I can tell you, but it makes all that tearing my hair out worth the pain, to know you've enjoyed it!! Thank you my friend :D ~ love TLH xx
