  • Benner Road? I always thought the Red Caboose Motel was on Paradise Lane.

  • The Baldwin 60000 is a incredible looking locomotive, the cab is incredible.

  • Nice intro music where did you get it?

  • How were you able to record the video? I thought they didn't ever offer cab rides.

  • kewl...

  • Missy,Your the one who is Kewl,:)

  • criss, or whatever your name is, conrail6370 is right. the NKP 587 has an Augor on it too. ive seen it work. where is no "conveyor belt". lots of extra parts and money and maintenence to keep it up

  • Its Paradise Lane or Fairview crossing, NOT Benner road.

  • Lancaster County map shows it as Benner Road!

    Len.

  • Get a new map

  • nice video!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • What is the name of the song at the begining credits?

  • No Idea, it's part of the editing program.

    Sorry,

    Len.

  • Len what editing program do you use? haha

  • Windows movie maker and other's that cost a lot. lol.

  • haha, I use vegas now, it's definately the best IMO, you know the animation on my intro at the end where its blue, I custom made that in vegas!

  • Pozdrowienia z Polski POLAND

  • What do you mean Would?????

    Len.

  • besides the one at the franklin institute which moves back a few feet and forward a few feet plus i just use the throttle brake and whistle when the firemen just turns the augor handle

  • What are you talking about? Number 90 dosen't have an Augor, she's hand fired.

    Len.

  • no no no no no

The baldwin 60000 at the franklin institute has an augor

  • here is how to locomotive at the franklin institute got coal in the fire box before it got there

Coal would fall through a trap door When the Augor handle is turned to the right

then The Coal is sent on to a conveyor belt into an elevator Which is a conveyor belt going up with small steel awnings Which when it tips over the coal drops in the firebox

  • Criss, you don't know anything about an Augor. An augor is a large screw that is in the bottom of the tender. The augor crushes the coal into fine pices and steam jets blow it into the firebox, with control vavels in the locomotive cab on the fireman side. I have ran steam in my life I know.

    Len.

  • My name is not criss thats just the user

  • i know your right about an augor and im not trying to argue. ( making that clear) but if thats an aurgor..whats the stoker? or is that the same thing. just in differnt words?

  • Augor, stoker, screw it's all means same thing. It's a long screw in the bottom that crushes the coal in to fine pices and steam jets blows it into the fire box.

    Len

  • OH! cool thanks! - Micah-

  • We should see the external view of her. Because I think she's a beauty.

  • Surprisingly quiet in the cab. Nice video.

  • 1 how did u get that ride and is there a chance i can get 1

2 where did you go 30 at because i was in the presidents car once behind 7312 and we never went over 15

    3 I envy you

4 awesome video I just wish it was longer

  • Does being an engineer for a steam railroad pay a lot?

It doesn't matter to me, I'd still love to be one! And one question.

How do you become a member of the friends of the railroad museum?

Also, Len, have you ever considered becoming an engineer?

  • Do you know these engineers as much as you know the Reading engineers?

  • Yes, Eric I do. I got to know the engineer's of Strasburg from being a memeber of the Friends of The Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania. And two I been going to Strasburg for many many years.

    Len.

  • Nice video Len.. great work as always. Rated 5 stars!

  • Thanks, I think I might be the only none pro. that has video in the cab's of the strasburg locomotives.

    Len.

  • HA!

  • LOL

  • Nicely done, good Job!

  • thanks.

    Len.

  • Now that 475's back in service, could you maybe try to get a long cab ridein it like this one?

  • 475 is back in service!

  • Thanks for clearing that up.

  • At 1:24, he's trying to turn off the air rocker but it won't turn off. Then at 1:34 it turns off. Why is it doing that? Was the lever stuck or something?

  • that's just your breaks.

    Len.

  • At 1:24 and 1:34 Doc is releasing the indpendent brake from his running brake test. The bell valve is the one he reachs for at 1:30

  • Are those sunglasses that Doc's wearing? Or are those just eye protection goggles?

  • Doc is wearing sun glasses, he wears them all the time, it's sorta his trade mark.

    Len.

  • Thank you!

  • Well, if you get one in 475 it'd have to be this summer or later, because she won't be running till she finishes getting repaired.

  • Steam engineers are cool.

  • And please can you get a cab ride in No. 475? it's my favorite strasburg engine. I'm also Aprincechild and NWRRSteamPower.

  • I don't think I'll be able to get one in 475. but I'll try this year. I have been in 31/7312 twice.

    Len.

  • How loud is the whistle when you're in the cab?

  • it's not really that loud in the cab, then people might think. it's louder out side of the cab , because your shilded some when in side.

    Len.

  • Oh please can you try to get a video of No. 475's cab?

  • is that easy

  • Cool, you should ask for a ride on 475 and post a video of it. It's my favorite strasburg engine. I'm dying to see what it looks like inside!

  • It's very tight in side, for it was built during the WWII era. your right smack up agance the back of the fire box.

    Len

  • It's not actually tight inside, it's just that the control wall is bought out further than most steam engines. there's still plenty of space for the fireman to sit or the rider.

  • Cool video, I wonder if he is the same engineer that worked my wedding train.

  • U R SOOOOOOOOOOO LUCKY!!!!!!

  • I been up in 90 and 31 twice, I was in 31 last year when it was just repainted over to look CN. with 7312 on the cab.

Look for the cab ride I have it on youtube.

    Len.

Check out my other cab ride in No. 7312 from November 4, 2007, It was the test run before Pete Lerro's CN. Photo freight the next day.

The engineer that day was Walt Keeley.

    Len.

  • AWESOME 90 is my favorite locomotive at Strasburg. You lucky DAWG! Very nice.

  • I wanna cab ride one day

  • Because He ask me not to revile that information. that was between him and I.

  • Nice awesome video, but I don't understand why you can't tell us what you helped him with.......

  • I did a good deed, and Doc Sellers rewarded me with two cab rides. I 'm not aloud to say what I helped him out with though.

  • How did you get a cab ride?

  • Lancaster County Map show as Benner Road.

  • Awesome vid! To bad youtube only has 5 stars. This deserves alot more.

  • It's also Paradise Lane, not "Benner Road".
