  • "If you want to learn how to make songs yourself, you take your guitar and you go to where the road crosses that way, where a crossroads is. Get there, be sure to get there just a little 'fore 12 that night so you know you'll be there. You have your guitar and be playing a piece there by yourself...A big black man will walk up there and take your guitar and he'll tune it. And then he'll play a piece and hand it back to you. That's the way I learned to play anything I want."

  • Doesnt anybody know their own weakness? Obviously we cant figure out what he means to say because these words are being taken out of context. For all we know he could be meaning to say he met a significant person "a crossroad. You people dont assume cause u think u know better. Thats the first step of stupidity.

  • road with crosses along it

  • wow... cross- roads...

  • He's obviously joking.

  • Was James Coburn there when he went? Should have figured Pat Garret would be the devil himself.

  • It's an old blues myth that still gets told for fun. Which Bob seems to be having when talking about this. If I were him, I'd get a huge kick out of the huge fuss this thing creates. Esp. on YouTube.

  • perhaps he is using "the crossroads" as a metaphor for change? Bob is quite known for his use of metaphors you know.

  • @OffhandDelivery no, it's literally a road ...its near the mexican border. its called "cross-roads" because male crossdressers turn up at night and you can pay them to have homosexual intercourse. I read it in Dylan's book called Chronicles Vol. 1.

  • Bloody hell, you know we're in the shit when people accuse the almighty Bob of being Satanic.

  • How do i get to the crossroads

  • a crossroads (point where two roads cross over one another) is a place where deal-making-demons are more common and more powerful. usually something of great importance must be sacrificed to (or buried in) the crossroad.

  • Okay i'm not american and i got a few questions: what exactly are the "crossroads"? and what did he actually do there,?

  • @grunntalll Its where two roads cross over each other. Your supposed togo at midnight, bring your guitar and a gentlemen will walk up and tune it, play it and hand it back. Thats what I have read. Robert Johson wrote the song Crossroads about the whole deal

  • @grunntalll

"The Crossroads" is an American version of the Faustian myth, which came from a classic German legend. In the myth, a scholar is dissatisfied with his earthly limitations, so he makes a deal with the devil to have unlimited knowledge.

In the American version, both Tommie Johnson and Robert Johnson are alleged to have made a deal with the devil for their amazing guitar skills at a crossroads somewhere in the American South. A crossroads is where two roads intersect.

  • still nmessing with the reporters. good one, bob!

  • FUCK! at the end. I havent heard that song in so long, whats it called?

  • @darthsarth Highway 61 Revisited

  • Shouldn't tell lies on Bob dylan

  • @paulgreen11 - Vincent Price reference greatly appreciated! No, when me and Bob hang out we mostly talk about other stuff, you know.

  • The biggest truths are hiding behind humour.

  • You can't sell your soul.

    It belongs to God.

  • @AcePilot101 when he/she was created; people were very patriarquic/abusive and absolute; that, you can see/feel in any god-related writings/sermons: "Love me above any other God!", "If you don't give me your money/soul/time/attention, you will go to hell for eternity (!!!); fantastic God we have!. At the risk of being sarcastic/blasphemous I chose to use my freedom of speech to denounce this type of stupidity.

  • @AcePilot101 if God owns all souls why will some go to HELL then? When you die or when Jesus comes back, which ever is first, your soul goes to who owns it. If the devil owns it you will go to hell and if Jesus owns it you will go to heaven. YOU HAVE A CHOICE. The thing about Jesus is you don't have to sell your soul to him because His grace and mercy are a gift. However, the devil makes you pay, so you must have sold something!

  • "i went down to the crossroads, fell down on my knees"

  • What would happen if the Devil doesn't want to buy your soul; and God rejects it too?: do you go to Central America or the Caribbean Islands when you die?

  • @1961beethoven no,i guess,(because i do not know) that you would end up in purgatory or, the waiting, place before a side was chosen. Or you'd be struck to oblivion,(lake of fire thingy) Unless, you are a hindu, or whatever, and believe in reincarnation, why does no-one say, we'll cross that bridge when it arrives, why always doubting, or speculation? We have only one path, it seems, and that is our own, why cant we just shed our differences, unite, and explore this galaxy (que star trek music)

  • DOWN ON HIGHWAY SIXTY OOOOONE!

  • yeah, he's kidding--or it's just a way of distancing himself from his past self and mythologizing. it's a blues thing.

  • isnt he talking about the same crossroads where robert johnson said he went.

  • Highway 61...indeed so kool....I'd love to travel on the road with Bob ...stopping on the way having a taco picknick ..yeah...dream on...

  • Why do you think they say the Devil has the best tunes.

    Stroll on Bob.

  • The Crossroads was a very early version of the psychedelic music joint in Ft. Worth, Texas at the corner of Rosedale and I-35E. The building no longer exists, but it is the subject of an Eric Clapton song.

  • @xorthfred sorry, you are wrong. Eric Clapton covered "Crossroads" which was a song by Robert Johnson that was about Hwy 61 & Hwy 49 in Clarksdale, MS..

  • @orthomorph indeed you are correct

  • That makes me want to cry- I used to admire and love this- this- poor withered excuse for a man...he can laugh about it now...but his time here is short. I can't believe he never even tried to right his ways- brags for the devil.

  • @drumheadcircle He's just joking. Even in the 60's he was messing around with interviewers. Some of his work is too spiritual and artistic to have come from the devil. Come on now.

He's only shortened his time by smoking cigarettes. It's obviously affected his voice now. I still hope he lives long, because I heard he can still put on a show, and his new music's pretty good.

  • This is pseudobullshit meaning I'm a freaking breadhead now which one of you religions practices hoarding money

  • Bob is a great troll.

  • @MeatTycoonDevious Bob invented trolling. Look at how many comments from people on various videos actually believe he sold his soul to the devil. Ridiculous. People have never seen a Bob Dylan interview. He's been messing with the interviewers since the 60's.

  • @TheOneartist yeah, like that one where the reporter actually asks him how many 'protest' singers there are today. dylan replies back with an exact number. lol. the reporter didn't know what to think.

  • @1skullduggery

Haha I want to see that... is it on youtube? Or if not, what interview is it from?

  • @toReasonWhy yeah, i saw it here on youtube. i think it was part of the 'don't look back' bio of his 65' u.k. shows. what i saw was a snippet. but, yeah, scroll around 'don't look back' and you'll find it.

  • @toReasonWhy a version of it on 'bob dylan does word math'.....

  • lol...... bob dylan didn't sell anything but his records

  • He's obviously joking and just repeating that Robert Johnson story, which is untrue in and of itself. Anyone who actually believes this has obviously never seen a Bob Dylan interview before.

  • clearly he has sold his soul to the reptilians,,,,to enslave us true humans,,,,can't you see he is haunted by his choice? try to wake up, turn off your tv, xbox and radio . try to wake up

  • @cooldaddyy Right on, bro. And Jim Morrison took over as the Lizard King after the previous one died.

  • @TheOneartist No, that was Wilson

  • The "Crossroads" can be interpreted as many different things, but I see it as the point when an artist, or any person, finds they have to sacrifice passion for profit. Rarely do you get both at the same time, and often, after some people make this decision, they will spend a life time trying to retrieve the passion they lost for the art form they now profit from.

  • "the crossroads" is where old blues guitarists said they were when they sold their souls to the devil... interesting

  • You will be SLANDERED and PERSECUTED if you serve God, like Bob Dylan (Elijah)

  • Judging by how they act on youtube, Sony would probaby try and sue the Devil if this was true.

  • No.

  • i love this video! i want to visit the crossroads.....

  • @jamesannabel south philly in august

  • @jamesannabel the wolves know

  • @minimoy You need serious psychiatric help if you believe that. As for Bob Dylan, he is just so talented and I feel grateful that he has had the opportunity to write and sing so many amazing songs

  • @jamesannabel lots of research

  • @Minimoy you seem to be the go to guy on this stuff. so, i've been wondering for awhile now.....does your hair keep growing while you are in hell? if you are trapped in a triangle, can you ever get it cut, or will you just have long ass hair when you get out of your triangle?

  • @adamjames25 depends on whether you're burning or not, honestly I don't know. It seems as though you remain the same way for all eternity, so technically your hair stops growing.

  • Spoiler: He's kidding. He has a sense of humor. Like when he sang he was sitting on a watch so he could be on time in "Bye and Bye"

  • @peterhansenism How do you know he's kidding? Did he tell You he was? (enter vincent price laughing)

  • My God, some people need to grow a sense of humour.

  • @xXPinkGoddessXx

some people need to know about the deep dark humor! I believe every sense of humor has it's dark side. no body knows whats the deep of it. but oh well.

  • this man is one of the most sarcastic people of all time. he'll tell you anthing. he said a long time ago that he sold his soul to the devil. you know what he did after that? he made 2 gospel albums. why do people look to this man like hes jesus? hes just a performer. nothing he says matters and he knows it. he says things like that so people like you guys will sit around and talk about it. people have been looking to him for answers since the 60s. watch those interviews and see what i mean

  • @NSpratlin1

    I hate you

  • What's this whole concept 'deal with the devil'?

It sounds crazy. What does it mean?

  • @marieview It means that performers and artists sell their souls to the devil, Satan, also known as Lucifer, for fame and fortune. They enjoy their worldly and luxurious lives until it's time for Satan to claim their soul, which is what he gains from the deal. Satan wants to bring as many people down with him as he can. Basically, it's like this. "Artist" sells their soul to Satan. Satan grants them fame, money, and all of their desires. It's been going on for a long, long time....

  • @TehkProductionZ Sounds like a good deal. Where do i sign up?

  • @surlagachette2

    TSA is taking applications

  • @euro944t I doubt that working at the TSA will give neither fame or fortune. But i might be missinformed?

  • @surlagachette2

My bad, i read you are looking to sign up to sell your soul to the devil. It seems TSA would be a good start. Not everyone gets the fame and fortune after they sign. Devil likes to jooo people you know.

  • @euro944t But then it's not much of a contract. On the other hand it is quite hard to know what imaginary being would or would not do. Living in a somewhat more free country it would be hard to sign up for the TSA though. Will have to look in to other options

  • @surlagachette2

Banks are always hiring, they pop up like gas stations in USA.

    Shalom

  • Oh come on bob dylan didn"t actually say he made a deal with satan, and anyway i don"t think that"s true the performers agree to go with the devil for fame and fortune and i"m a performer .

  • @TehkProductionZ actually, they don't get to bave a luxurious life, Satan takes their soul right there on the spot and replaces it with an actor, a reptile being. The reason for that is all people, including the innocent, go to hell when they die, the only bargain you're getting is a self sacrifice of your life. You then sit in a triangular shaped shut box, very tightly around your body, you stay there in a fetal position burning the whole time, and time goes much slower when you're in there.

  • he sold his soul to the illuminati ! like all the rich and famous

  • hes just a regular clever guy who got lucky , born at the right time .

  • thats why he made the song u belong to me.... hes speakin about his soul

  • lol dylan is fucking with all you gullible dinks out there. He was born with a gift and he followed his heart and changed the world.

  • @TheGuitarClint Keep on thinking that.

  • @jimdhembree yeah im sure if he sold his soul thats why he made christitan music. makes perfect sense right?

  • @jeremyp371 Satan can quote the bible, chapter & verse. In fact scripture says that satan clothes himself in the appearace of holiness. Satan is a fallen angel.

  • @jimdhembree

yep, im sure if satan got a hold of an insanely popular musician he would promote Christianity. makes perfect sense.

  • @jeremyp371 Keep believing what you want . All you want to do is argue about someone you don't know on an issue you don't know.

  • @jimdhembree

You're doing the same exact thing, except instead of responding you run away and claim I don't know what I'm talking about. You can't provide reasoning.

  • @jeremyp371 I saw the unedited interview. He was very clear. The interview was even on youtube unedited for a day or two. Then it was all of a sudden edited. I don't know who did it or why, but it just is.

  • @jimdhembree

OK, so you expect me to throw all logic out the window and believe you simply because you supposedly saw the unedited video that now just magically disappeared. LOL.

  • @jeremyp371 I don't have ant control of what or who you believe. I don't lie . I thought it was odd, after telling a neighbor friend about it a week later; that the original video had been edited. So what do you think he's talking about even in the edited video ?

  • @jimdhembree

He's joking. It's pretty obvious considering he was smirking while saying that.

  • Comment removed

  • @jeremyp371 Yea, okay. Denial is a river in Egypt, right ?

  • @jimdhembree You're at the bottom of the barrel. You're not providing any reasoning for your argument instead you depend on crappy one liners. You're a joke.

  • @jeremyp371 It's sad that you feel the need tp condem, dismiss & poke fun at me. Which is fine. That's your choice, Although I think your point of veiw is flawed because of your idolization of him. May God bless you & open your eyes. There's so much evil taking place in the world around you. I pray you're not decieved & are left behind to your own devices. God bless you.

  • @jimdhembree i dont even a single bob dylan album. and you're just as bad as the witch hunters in the 1600s. you're an idiot.

  • @jeremyp371 So you say . Bless you.

  • @jimdhembree You're so patronising, and the sad reality is that you think you're being a shining light. I would hate to live my life with the same level of delusion. You're not an example and you certainly don't encourage others to seek the Christian faith. As this is entirely central to Christianity it's pretty clear you have nothing.

  • @AidanParle I never claimed to. This is a coment area. Christ is the light I use for guidance not people who argue on chat boards. I would like to be an encouragement, but for you, I am not. I stick by my faith. I am not swayed by detracters, condemers, agnostics, athiests or satanists. I would that all were saved by the cleansing blood of Christ . I don't claim to be a preacher, evangelist, a guide to Christ or a redeemer of souls. That's Christ's role. I right what I think. What I believe.

  • @jeremyp371

No this is not the only time Dylan talks about this. With his interview with Ed Bradley on 60 minutes he explains how he has made a deal with "the Chief" a long time ago and not he is holding up his end of the bargain.

Many musicians have had this strange experience, notably Jim Morrison :)

  • @karlkarlkarl1234 lol jim morrison, do me a favour Robert Johnson was the original 'crossroads' man

  • oooh god how can his smile still be so hot!!!! why he never smile! or he never is smiling on public, i don't know!

  • Bob could use some wrinkle cream.

  • @utubemusiccritic He is 69 years old you know. Im sure you will be wrinkly when you get to that age.
