Can you believe we never heard about this show in France, so far ? Though they opened many lame musical shows lately... None musically amazing as this one seems to be.
Thanks to YouTubers for posting all that stuff ! Now I have to find the CD or the DVD !
Well, MISS SAIGON and MARTIN GUERRE sadly never opened here too...
but I found and own their CD !
Legrand and Boublil released a stage adaptation of Jacques Demy's musical movie LES DEMOISELLES DE ROCHEFORT, 2 or 3 years ago, but it was far from a hit : they made changes on the songs for a more "modern touch". Then people who loved the movie didn't really recognize the songs they love, so the show was a failure and didn't last very long...
I bought MISS SAIGON and MARTIN GUERRE when they released the original London cast albums, years ago. That's why now, i can't understand why I just can't find MARGUERITE here and never heard of it till I drop on it on YouTube by chance.
Michel Legrand is a great composer, I love Boublil & Scönberg's works since I discovered their first album LA REVOLUTION FRANCAISES then the original french concept album of LES MISERABLES. Too bad they just can't find producers for their shows in France (with the exception of LES MISERABLES).
Marguerite. The reason why you guys might haven't heard 'bout it, is probaly because this musical is new. Maybe it will be released in France soon. Have patience, it's worth it
I really hope Marguerite gets a revival, it's such a spectacular show. I'm planning to see it in French when it opens in Paris but I'd kill to see it in English again. I cried pretty much the whole way through it.
The most amazing musical I've ever seen. Ever. Saw the very last performance last night, blew me away! I reeeeally hope that it gets some sort of revival, as it really deserves alot more recognition than it got.
Saw this yesterday & my only regret is I didn't see it earlier so I could see it again & again. They were all amazing but Ruthie... oh my god her performance completely took over me. I cried like a baby :o)
Go and see this! It's an amazing show and definitely one not to be missed. I've seen it twice now and have my tickets for the last night. Be quick, only one week left.
As for Ruthie, she went to my school, so I was constantly encouraged to follow her career. I'd previously seen her in Magnificent Musicals (with her husband :D), Chicago, The Woman In White, and have all of her cast recordings. There isn't a performer like her!
The theatre are selling the best tickets for Marguerite for just £20 now, so that's a great excuse for anyone to go again!
Also listening to the cast album now - brings back the tears even now. An awesome show - although Julian Ovenden was a bit much with his singing. It was certainly an "older" audience
Strange, I love Julian Ovenden. I saw Marguerite for the first time on Friday (would've been sooner, but I've been away) and saw his understudy, so went back last night just to see him. Admittedly he was better in Grand Hotel (the best musical I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot), but he was still amazing in Marguerite. It's such a great musical too, so I'd happily see it again and again if it weren't ending so soon.
Ok, I absolutely loved this show to bits. But I can't get that song out of my mind! "Intoxication", I mean. Can anyone please please please put me out of my misery and tell me where I can find that song??? Thank you so much!
And thanks for posting, this truly is a great musical. **
Saw this last Friday. Absolutely loved it! Ruthie and Julian were amazing, Alex wasn't on but his understudy was great. Such a good show, I'm sad it's only a limited run.
Thanks for the comments on the reviews Capricaquarius89! I'm really looking forward to it; although I'm a real theatre fan and have seen countless shows, Marguerite looks different to everything I've seen before. Thanks again!
It is completley different to anything you would have ever seen it is brilliant. The start and ending is probably the most brutal I have ever seen on stage too.
This is such an amazing musical. I went to see it on Thursday and was so near the front! I was the youngest person in the theatre!!! Ruthie was amazing - it was my first time seeing her live in a show. I want to see it again so much, but my Mum hated it and said no way.
I saw it on friday lol I was also the youngest person in the theatre! I met Ruthie afterwards she is the most charming person ever! The musical is fenomenal and I reccomend it to everyone and if you do go take some tissues I cried buckets ! 1st time I saw Ruthie Ans=d she was so good I am going again before Nov 1st . Can't wait :)
You're so lucky you met her. I met her after the DOI tour at Wembley where she was guest judge and she signed my programme, even though she wasn't actually in it. She chatted to me and my brother for about fifteen minutes. I got the cast recording and I'm listening to it right now!
I'm going to see this on the 6th of August. Looks great. I'm another one who's always wanted to see Ruthie Henshall but never have had the chance until now. Can't wait - she rocks! Does anyone know what the critics have been saying about it or if there have been any major reviews? X
From what I've read on the Internet, it's gotten overwhelmingly positive reviews. The Daily Mail called it: "magnifique", stating that it was everything "a proper West End musical should be", and particularly praised Henshall's performance. The Sunday Telegraph said it was a "remarkable production" that "raises that bar for modern musicals". So all looks very well for this new musical. Hope u have a great time seeing it!
I'd love to see this! Wonder when it'll next be produced??...

I'm not sure you'll find the CD or DVD.

Singing for an exam ?? May I ask what school it is ?
Will someone film you and post the video on YT ?
yanndick 2 years ago
Well, it's not a school where i do my study's.. it's a school where i learn music. I'm a singer for 6 years now,
(still in college of music) & now i have to perform on Stage. so i'm gonna perform a song of Marguerite & Martin Guerre
& music of " W.A Mozart" . Maybe i'm gonna record it on my camera.
