Everyone head over to project 1999! It is a free to play Everquest server. It recreates the classic experience up to velious! Kunark was released only 3 months ago!
That is so horribly phony. If one was having network lag how the fuck did they stay together on the other? If its really "slow update" lag the damn server wouldn't even know they where next to each other.
I cant believe anyone would fall for that, common sense says fake.
I've rarely seen anything good about this card. It is way over priced & not compatible with many popular motherboards from everything I've read. I was going to try it but after reading all the trouble people running a 790GX & FX chipset have had I will just go with the intel card for $27. There isn't even a compatibility list on visiontek's site. Just a fair warning to all consider a cheaper card with a much higher chance of working out of the box.
@r1tual What are you talking about? This is 2 different PCs - one running with a standard nic and one running with the Xeno. You can't have 2 separate PCs logged into the same account at the same time. Of course there will be video differences because the differences come from 2 machines, not one running 2 instances of the game. You make no sense and take up the torch against the company because you are suspicious. If you want to rail against those you are suspicious of, at least make sense.
It says that it offloads the CPU usage of the network protocols onto the NIC. If it works cool but I thought standard NIC's already did this. I will look for more reviews on this product before making a decision on it. Would be great if it works but whats stopping all the other NIC companies from catching on to the idea and just implementing it as a standard feature? Anything that can help online latency is a winner in my book though.
@r1tual I have one, it does what it says on the tin. Can't wait for the new drivers though, rumour has it that it will increase performance even further.
any1 playing world of warcraft who raids pve regularly knows that seconds can mean survival or death, hell even a miliseconds lag spike can wipe a 25 man raid, and the killer is a equalizier. my skill in game was never in doubt, but i was left out of many raids due to dc;s and latency spikes. when i used the killer m1, i went from a back up tank, to main tank, and am now know as a solid steady tank by any1 who knows me on my server, silvermoon, a hardocre server :)
having applied these tweaks and installed the xp driver beta best recommended for world of warcraft. i got my latency in game down from 250 ms to 50 ms!!!! that is outstanding, i removed four fifths of the lag i was experiencing, and my person to person transfer speeds are very much better. im not one to go out of my way to praise a company, but bigfoot earned my thanks with the hardware and the help.
bigfoot, and killer nics do not talk BS, they do exactly what they sayty on the box.
only some1 who has not used a killer nic would moan that it is BS! lmfao.
i have one, and ill admit after installing it i saw no difference, and i contacted bigfoot with some very angry emails feeling i had been ripped off. their response blew me away. professional service doesnt come as good as this very often, they asked what games i was playing most, and gave me several drivers to ry out and some links to custom twaek guides for tcp-ip and the killer itsself.....
Almost seems like BS.. I mean how do you play a FPS game if things are this far out of whack? I could see a modest improvement which on a FPS would still be a huge advantage but no way could I see it being this big of a difference.
FPS's use UDP traffic due to it's speed rather than TCP/IP. The EQ demo posted was basically to show one way the card handles network traffic better than an onboard card. The kicker is that it actually accelerates UDP traffic and not TCP so FPS's are very smooth. I havent had any problems with my Killer and i'd buy another if mine died.
MMOs do tend to exaggerate this more than an FPS would, just due to their nature. However, you will still see benefits in FPSs, as Zenbyo said, and smoother gameplay as a result.
Awsome! This would be my card if i could find where to order it. I use ASUS p5q-e motherboard, i dont know if i got a good network with it. I live in sweden, give me a message about where to get one. 5 stars for this produkt , if it works the way it's displayed.

I have to call BS. The game server's NPC's have no problem stating in time on both screens. meaning that the standard NIC it communicating just fine.

@kaegrim the Xeno card is intelligent whereas on board NIC are dumb. UDP is optimised using this card, also you will need 1 free PCI-E slot.
