Sam, can't spend food stamps at a deli or at any restaurants, fast food places, etc.. Can't use them for necessities like toilet paper. Can't buy a pre-cooked chicken at the grocery store, if the store sells it as a ready to eat hot meal -- "hot" being the operative word. Food stamps assume you have a kitchen to cook your meals. Otherwise, you just eat everything cold. Try avoiding any and all hot meals for just one week... The difference becomes less subtle.

Where do you ppl think the money from food stamps comes from? It has to come from the economy or you have to devalue the money supply, both of those hurt the poor more than the rich. More money for food stamps, means less money for investing and ultimately less jobs. Personal consumption is already recovered, we need more investment spending and this won't help.
