well ive heard that the squiers in the 80's were actually better than the american strats at the time. jeff must have got a good one. ive come accross some good ones actually.

There are actually a lot of Squires that aren't really bad, and I ran across one once that actually felt just as good as an American to me. They have a skimpier quality control, which is one of the reasons they are cheaper.

Agreed.

I have a Squier Tele Custom II and, despite owning/having access to many other guitars, it's been my main one since the day I bought it. The only thing I've done to it was put new tuners on it.

80's japanese squires are gems man. some of them could be just as good as an american strat. Its the chinese and indonesian stuff thats junk
