@viniciusb you can't just hand out money in Africa it's not fair, after less than a minute of handing out a couple of shillings you'll be surrounded. Plus it doesn't send the right message about money and begging to these kids. It's much better giving something like boiled sweets etc
@speedee911 I liked that comment. You're totally right, those cows are skinny, but I bet the meat is 100 times healthier than any burger you get from McDonalds.
I enjoyed LWD just a little bit more than LWR. It wasn't because of the countries/terrain that they ride through, but that Charley got more air time, and was much more of an equal TV adventure partner. Viewing LWR, one wouldn't realise that Charley was the senior rider, with more expertise, than Ewan, on all road surfaces. In LWD, he gets more time in front of the camera. Sadly, Claudio seems to get much less, which is a shame, because I think everybody likes the unflappable Swiss man.
The amazing part is that while Ethiopia used to be the icon for poverty in Africa in the 80's, they're now the most stable country in the region! They've even been responsible for keeping many of the warlords in the defunct country of Somalia in check from moving out. Most Americans don't even realize how much that after all the crap they've been through, they've really got their game together in comparison to the 80's. Still totally impoverished, but at least there is peace there to a point
finally the arrive in another one of the worlds' Scotlands XD ...btw: its getting more intresting in theses parts. I really enjoy it, cause they leave a lot of their own problems back and focus on the people and landscapes and a lot of little things that happen on their tour.
@TheVlogSister The Sahara desert stretches across Africa from a little off the West Coast all the way to the East. So yes it's under Morocco, but its where they were too :)
it's so strange how people who have nothing are so generous. i have everything i could possibly want and dont think about giving anyone anything. we're such a selfish people.
Watching this, its just so eye opening. Everyone around the world in these countries is just so selfless, even when they have so little... And, here I am in 'The Greatest Country on Earth' and we wont share a garden hose with our neighbors.. its unbelievable.
Unfortunately, we are the only nation claiming this, and it's widespread throughout America, too. I don't know about Africa, really, but the West is a generally individualistic society. Especially the States, with our 'American Dream' and the idea of capitalism--making our own success, and as such, we see it as, we earned it--we keep it!Disclaimer: I am not suggesting that capitalism is bad; neither do I agree with the 'greatest country on earth' sentiment, I do see the west as generally greedy
@Jzook2112 I see. I live very close to Germany ( In fact, the country I live in is connected to Germany) so I've been there like 20 times - it's not that impressive (;
@TonsofFun777 You don't know shit...I have helped strangers and got help from them and in either case there weren't any cameras or money involved.During the war my father gave our village cottage to refugees even though we earned some 40 $ a month at the time('95)There are genuinely kind people all over the world.hospitality is sacred. But unfortunately more you have less likely you will be willing to give.
Your comments fuckin sick. You try living on one cup of tea at 9. Give it a go and see how u go, bet u wudn't last 2 days you selfish shit. People like u have no respect...Fuck off
I thought it was cute when Ewan related the conversation he had with the Ethiopian boy in the yellow shirt. (: Literally smiled at that; just thought it shows the innocence of the young children in those countries.
This part broke my heart....specially with the kids

Say what you want about the West but last time i went to another state i didn't need a frickin' armed guard.

"The greatest country on earth"? Well i only know one people claiming this megalomaniac synonym for their homeland...
You must be american, aye? But you are right... western civilasations are greedy and selfish.
TheScotsblade 2 years ago 7
That I am. But, I use that magalomaniac synonym in the utmost sarcastic way possible. The same as I would for our 'Fearless Leader' lol

"The Greatest Country on Earth" has some pretty strange policies. As it was leaked from the CIA/Pentagon:
"The socialist nature of the people in some nations will note vote for parties we approve of..."
