  • Mao starved tens of millions in the Great Leap Forward and murdered tens of millions more in the Cultural Revolution. Western governments are not perfect, but they do not feel the need to cut off vast swathes of the internet to their citizens as too dangerous, and do not jail or execute people for professing ideas. Indeed, the internet itself was developed by the US government; the Chinese government considers it a threat.

  • at 5:16 it looks like a dick

  • Mao didn't walk a yard during the long march; the suffering people sacrificed their blood and future to his communist ideas. The merit goes to the Chinese people, not its leaders.

  • Thanx to Uploader................. Mao is my Hero....Learned so many things....from his leadership....

  • @TheCharacterActor

As a westerner I have to say that this is one of the most amazing and interesting things I have ever learned in history. I am impressed at Mao's strength and determination

  • Lol at ppl only like to hear what they want to hear and so oblivious in their own little world. I am sure western media only tells the truth, only the truth and nothing but the truth.

  • This is absolutely SHOCKING! Are the Americans that desperate? They allow for documentaries about the CCP with a positive note? Has the world gone mad? I am going to sell my stocks immediately! The world is going to hell.....

  • @weissman2000 Just so you know this seems to have been produced in China; In the credits at about 7:41 it says Digital Corp Beijing.

  • @weissman2000 Just so you know this seems to have been produced in China; In the credits at about 7:41 it says Digital Corp Beijing. And at about 8:02 it says presented by documentary film studio of PRC.

  • @Trotskyistrevolution

pheeew.....got me going for a while....

  • @weissman2000

"Are the Americans that desperate? They allow for documentaries about the CCP with a positive note?"

    ==

Are the Americans are so desperate that they have to be forced to choose a propaganda from one side?

The answer is, you hear stories from both side.

Under Mao, Chinese people had no choice but accept their gov. version just like you are advocating from the opposite side.

  • Wow... an English documentary actually putting China in good light??? What has the world come to?

  • Wow i enjoyed this tremendously - thanks for the upload.

  • Mao created Chinese Red Army. Chinese Red Army ( PLA) is invisible. Mao is the father of Today's China. China is lucky to have Mao.

  • Communism may not work, but it is no reason to dismiss such a great feat. Simply astonishing.

  • Very good documentary! I pray for peace between China and Japan! ~

  • Mao was a great military leader, strategist, and revolutionary. However, he was not fit to rule the county. Millions of people suffered and died during the great leap forward and the cultural revolution. If Mao really cared about what the people wanted he would have installed democracy so that the people themselves could vote and choose what was best for them.

  • @Maarten8867 :

It's Mao who had made china become a Industrial country. Mao gave china Nuclear forces, space technology. Without Mao, no today's China.

  • I hate communism but I can't deny how impressive this story is!

  • Sun-Yat-Sen is the father of modern China, not Mao Zedong.

  • @dchang11 Only the greatest heroes to lead the Chinese people. brave, strong, no compromise to the foreign powers. Sun Yat-sen and his Nationalist only lose at the last point

  • @zyhyvesdk Sun wasn't even involved in the Long March. He died a decade before it started. Although he was a Nationalist, he is well respected on both sides despite the corruption the Nationalists faced. Without Sun, the Qing Dynasty would've stayed in power and the opportunity for a modern China would not been a reality. He is basically the George Washington of China. Chiang is like Abraham Lincoln and Mao is like Jefferson Davis with the result of a Confederate victory.

  • @tiborzkarate Yes! China learned from Sun Tzu's "Art of War": "Therefore one hundred victories in one hundred battles is not the most skillful. Seizing the enemy without fighting is the most skillful."

  • True, China was unified under Mao. Sadly, his policies later that caused china to regress had seriously tarnished his reputation. If only communism didn't exist in China. However, there's nothing communist about China today except the party. The Chinese are an ingenious people. They will continue to rise through their own path regardless of any pressure put on them or what others say. They will work according to what suits them best. And India shouldn't even be compared to China.

  • Truly an amazing story. I've never really known anything about the Long March until now. I'd heard of it, but didn't know the details. MANY thanks for posting it! Someday, i'd like to go to China and visit some of those sites along the route of the Long March.

  • 当年黄巢不也是南征北战,从北到南再到北

  • @Potemkin1914g well, if Taiwan is good enough...go for it. Those Taiwanese and nationalist just not good enough for independence and take over China. You just don't even have a clue what is going on.

  • @Potemkin1914g

LOL "Long live Chiang Kai-Shek and Taiwan independence"? XD Do you honestly believe that Chiang would have let Taiwan be independent if Mao had lost the war and fled to Taipei? If so, you need to buy a clue. Taiwan is part of China.

Anyway, Chiang and the Kuomintang were a heap of shit who allowed China to rot, to be fragmented, to be ravaged by invaders, and to be played with by foreign empires. Mao unified China and built it into a mighty country AND an international power.

  • @ComradeLenin1289 Anyone who would use a sign-in after a sawdust-filled corpse like that of Vladimir Ulyanov, shows just how retarded they are LOL. LOL @ Maoism--I guess that's why the Communist Party of China has to use CAPITALISM, good old MONEY, to pay for their "Communist revolution" I pee on Marxists everywhere. CAPITALISM is the Wave of the Future!!! Soon PRC will crumble from it's own overreaching, corrupt bolshevism, and Taiwan and China WILL be under the flag of Republic of China LOL

  • @ComradeLenin1289 Comparing with Mao, Chiang is a much weaker leader. I strongly agree with you that Mao and his comrades bring national dependence, prosperity and pride to Chinese people with their courage, determination, tenacity and wisdom already shown in the Long March. Although their career did meet setback and frustrations in the last sixty years, the booming power of China recently prove they and their followers are on the right track.

  • @wanly596 I think Chiang was as just a competent leader as Mao. It was his officers and military commanders who disobeyed many of his commands.

  • @ComradeLenin1289 Chiang was not allied with the USSR nor the USA. He knew those two countries hated each other, and wanted China's alliance, so he planned to manipulate those two countries into giving him what he wanted.

  • @ComradeLenin1289 Well said. Chiang's govt was corrupt and exploited the poor. If it wasn't for Mao and his reds, China would've been slowly gobbled up by greedy Europeans, USA and Japs. The "Century of Humiliation", the Opium War, the Boxer Rebellion and especially the "Unequal Treaties" must have been fresh in the minds of the Chinese. I'm glad Mao's Reds fought and humbled the US-led UN coalition during Korean War.

  • I do respect what these people achieved and their inspiring strong spirit. Though I don't believe Communism is an acceptable form of government in today's modern society. People have a fundamental right to vote and choose who leads their country.

  • I don't care what westerners say about Mao. As a humanist, I must state the fact that Mao is a true leader of his people and is truly extra ordinary.

  • @TheCharacterActor I totally agree. Although his iron-fist rule was cruel during "Great Leap Forward", it liberated the Chinese people from Western (plus Jap) oppression and humiliation. China was nearly swallowed up by Europeans, US, and Japs during 19th and early 20th century. Those were humiliating times for the Chinese. They were NOT even allowed to go into their own public parks, whereas dog pets of foreigners WERE! USA is the worst bully of them all and expect the world to bow.

  • @TheCharacterActor mao zedong is a fucking douche bag

  • @TheCharacterActor perhaps....the long march is amazing... but mao is a murderer...who cared for noone but himself... I have no sides... Im not nationalist supporter, or communist...but he was a horrible person...

  • @wingwaabuddha Yes, it is true the Culture Revolution was a huge cock-up but nontheless Mao did bring unity, strength and made China the world super power it is today. Yes it's true Mao was a total Nutter but he was still a genius.

  • DURING THE JAPANESE INVASION FROM 1941 TO 1945, I WAS IN THE SOUTH-WESTERN PART OF CHINA AT THE AGE OF SIX. I DID NOT HAVE TO WALK ONE DAY IN THOSE DAYS. HERE THE LONG MARCH COVERING 6,000 MILES BY WALKING WITHIN ONE YEAR, AN AVERAGE OF WALKING 24 MILES A DAY! FROM HUNDRED THOUSAND PEOPLE DOWN TO SIX. THAT WAS INCREDITABLE!!!! THAT ALSO SPELLED OUT HOW EVIL CHIANG KAI SHIEK WAS!!!!!

  • I am proud of the survivors. You guys are the heroes!

  • many my friends parents are Long March survivors. Most of them passed away in 80's and 90's. My sister-in-law's mom was with Zhao Guotao's Fourth troop, she had to go through three times of grassland. She is over 90s now. If you watched this video, you would understand better why Chinese people can achieve what they can achieve today. The spirit of Long March represents sacrifice, courage, bravery and eternal believe for a just cause.

  • @bratz504 Well said. Many Red soldiers sacrificed their lives during Korean War using their body as shield when only 1 in 3 had a rifle. The USA had airforce, navy, heavy artillery and were eating turkey dinners, while the Reds were eating toasted rice cakes and wearing thin canvas shoes in -34C weather. And the US-led 20 nation UN couldn't win the war!

  • Fantastic video! 5/5

  • i hope i meet someone who surivived this

i am so proud of china no matter what

  • mao may have harmed millions of people during the great leap but during his rule saving billlions of people in china today from a corrupt goverment

    go china

  • and most of the long march leaders were killed by Mao, carried out by gang of 4 during Cultural Revolution............just like every emperor in the Chinese history.........Mao was an ultimate politician, military leader, and failed in his later life. Cultural Revolution almost destroyed China, thank God for Dung and general Ye.

  • mao is a god

  • "Long live Mao!"

bet you aínt so optimistic abaout Mao anymore after "the great leap forward"!

  • LOL and the ' cultural ' revolution .

  • Wow. great posting. It completely freed my mind of negative presumptions against Mao and Communism. Wow, i am a new Maoist and Communist convert. Thank you very much of posting this liberating video.

  • ur .00001 of a man Mao was, basically ur a pussy without the hair. Hes one of the greatest figures of history and what are you? He liberated peasants and every historian can tell you that was true so there alone he saved billions of chinese people from tyrany of Chiang.

  • Congo4life

UGH, Your an idiot, I was criticizing the f**king video, not Mao.

You seem to have a very distorted image, were you brought up in China by anychance?

Are you actually denying they used brutality and murder and violence?

  • What the big deal name one revolution without a drop of blood? Whats important is that the KMT who was supported by the UN lost to a bunch of people armed with sticks and stone.

  • Congo4life

"What the big deal " - Sickening.

  • @Congo4life Lololol. Very true. US-backed KMT couldn't beat a bunch of peasants! The Reds really shoved it up the rear of the puppet KMT govt.

  • Maybe but w/o Sun Yat Sen , he would have been nothing.

SYS = the true founder of modern China , had he commanded the KMT , no way would you commies gotten so large.

He would allied with the Germans and the Japs, and helped them to towards India where they would directed all their perversion and sadism.

  • I've always heard about the Long March but still didn't know any detail about it, thank you for posting this series about it.

It was an amazing feat of courage, strength, and determination. I hope I can meet a survivor of the Long March one day.

  • astonishing military manoviour lol

more like a disaster when u loose about 90% of your army

maybe more of a political sucess

  • in a way it was a unknown way taht not even mao know about that umpstart the communist rule in china it jumpstart what is china today

he gave hope and courage to people and kepy most of his promises but in his later life did't make all of it

kinda like obama promising hope change and stuff but in the end sent 30,000 troops to iraq

so all warfare in histroy has no right or wrong no matter which side you are on we people ordinary people just have to stick up and deal with it

  • Thank you for this series!

  • awesome
