Hey how do you film and yell to the actors what to do while you are filming whitout getting the voice in the film?

@Johanop The truth is that pretty much the only sound recorded during the filming process that will make it into the final cut is dialogue. Everything else- footsteps, gunshots, clothe-rubbing, scrapes, punches- all added from stock sounds or new clean-recordings in post-production.

I just got done making a short film myself, and because it didn't have any dialogue there were no sounds recorded during filming that made it into the final movie. 2/3s of Post-Production is spent on sound, I find.

@Johanop I can't say what they did but usually they take out the audio and replace it with background music and various sound effects (Etc. walking, voice overs, shooting). Look at the Sound Design/Editing video for Prism. Rob rocks!

Awesome movie but i think you should have made some "story" scenes a little longer because it was hard to follow sometimes. The one on the rooftop at the start or maybe at the end for example. Sorry for my shitty english I'm from Germany ;)

how do directors talk while camera is rolling ? is all the sound taken out??

@BasedProducts Because the actors most likely have lavaliere mics (clipped into their clothes), which only pick up sound from the closest source, and only in one direction. So, if the mic is only facing the actors mouth, then it would only pick up their voice. It might pick up some of the directors as well, but its so low in the mix, when the other effects and voices come in, its easy to take out. That and in parts with no talking, they just don't use the mic audio

Um I was just wondering why you guys yell when your shooting at someone. I usually just shake the rifle and they know when I'm shooting. And if the actor yells "SHOOTING" you will see his/her lips move.

@Indy2Cool you're either really stupid, or I'm COMPLETELY missunderstanding you. What I mean is that while shooting the director (or person holding camera) yells "firing!" "fall down!" "turn!" and so on to people performing the action. This is done to get the timing right. then, in post, you remove ALL audio and replace it with foley (google it) and sound effects. Simple.
