Pretty boring until the last ten minutes when the alien starts beaming the cops with his laser eyes!! Good cast wasted. A better film was a 1981 gem called WITHOUT WARNING
I saw this in the theatre with my brother & parents! It scared the hell outta me! I disagree with other posters, I think it's a pretty cool idea with well executed action & FX with a scary monster!
By the way ..even though Im getting tired of remakes, they can remake Rex. Or maybe The Dark too. Those crappy ones can get the new millenium treatment.
Probably one of the crappiest horror movies I've seen.
Cme to think of it.. during post production, they added effects to the alien where he shoots light beams from his eyes. Also someo f the scenes had to be re-filmed.
"well, werewolfs didn't work out.... so just add some lasers shooting from his eyes that explode people on contact... we will just pass him off as a pissed off alien now...." GOOD SAVE!
ok. there s a diference between a cult bizarre classic horror film like the wicker man, lucio fulci's the beyond, rosemarys baby , the brotherhood of satan, they live, from beyondor the house bythe cemetery etc... but i can clasified this kind of movies like a 80's funky stoner horror movie classic
I saw this on broadcast TV during the '80s, but since it was a Canadian station, Cathy Lee Crosby's exclamation when the werewolf comes through the wall was uncensored.
Okay... WHAT THE HELL??!! I hate when people put down older movies too. So many of them are gems waiting to be discovered and won't get their chance because people hate "low budget" - Rabid, Squirm, Alice Sweet Alice, Basket Case, You Better Watch Out, many more. But this is FRICKIN' RIDICULOUS! You cannot have a movie where people are stalked, terrorized, and run and scream... only to be offed by Sci-Fi Eye Rays that shoot them across the room. It's not even a joke. It's an insult!
I love the tag line. "After fear. Beyond terror. There's... the dark." O//
But those lazer eyes were kinda cool. Made that whatever-it-is kinda memoriable. Maybe I'll check this out if this is fully uploaded here. I certainly will not pay to see this. :D
I think we had this on vhs a long time ago but i never watched it! Man, this looks AWESOME! I think the laser eyes are cool! Man, i miss the 80's! Oh yeah, this came out as part of a 3 dvd set released by Shriek Show! They put out a ton of great cult flicks form around the world! Thanks for posting this trailer man .
Nicely 70's schlocky. I heard this a werewolf flick but then reshoots were done to make it an alien film. Either way, the word is its tripe but it looks amusing. I think Casey Kasem is in this too, far out!
Oh it's definitely tripe! And suffers severely if watched in pan and scan. In fact, some of the most important action is invisible, as it's just off screen!! Maybe different in restored widescreen, but I think I'd rather eat tripe than watch this one again.
Yeah I caught some of it on Citytv way back and it looked dreadful. The print they had was terrible, or it was the low budget. Lived up to the title, I could barely see anything in the night scenes. Too bad, the director did the cool "Kingdom of the Spiders" I believe, 2 years before. Guess space werewolves weren't his bag.
Actually, no. This was a film directed by Tobe Hooper about a child kept locked into a house his whole life that mysteriously mutated into this super strong freak that felt no pain. Tobe was fired for taking too long and Cardos was brought in to finish the picture. The distributor asked that the story be changed for an alien character. They added the lasers and a text prologue to the film. A beautiful widescreen DVD of this recently came out with a director commentary track!
Oh that's right I forgot, Tobe started this. I just remembered the film was a very troubled production. IMDB indicates this was supposed to be a zombie film at the start, lot of stories about this one. Tobe seemed to lose a lot of jobs during this period, guess that's why it slipped my mind. Venom too, he quit or was fired a few years later. Oh well, I still like his Texas Chainsaw 2 and Lifeforce. Maybe I'll rent this on DVD. Thanks!
HAX!

0;35 - 0:44 That's Paris Hilton's mom Kathy being strangled by the monster.

'Laser-gun Eyes' would be a better name for this. Looks like they took 'laser' footage from Battlestar Galactica and superimposed onto the print.

I didn't mind this film. Reminded me of an episode of Kolchak.

Love how they always got well known classic character actors to star in this crap!

I simply need to ask though, who IS the voiceover for this trailer? It just sends shivers through me...unlike the actual trailer.

@FourFliesDVD Yeak, okay. And being chased and killed by "Freddy Krueger" isn't ridiculous? ALL horror movies are ridiculous.
John22133 11 months ago 2
@John22133 - To some degree, yes. But this is, as I said, BEYOND ridiculous. To be kind, it's a major cop-out.

Someone needs to make a compilation of all the "PEW PEW PEW EXPLOSION* scenes in this movie. That would be hilarious.
