  • what controller are you using?

  • how do you figure out how many counts are left on the ending song / how many counts the intro of the new song has on the fly??

  • Too much tech for beginners. DJ's nowadays can't even beat match anymore. Learn how to beat match, learn how to mix without loops and extras, then play around with the toys. Without the fundamentals down there is no way to become a master dj.

  • can someone explain to me how that intro is 16 counts long? :s i counted 8 counts (that is 8 x 1,2,3,4)

  • any suggestions on how I can make cash for my dj equipment, Im only 15 and starting to dj

  • @09Rdog Get a job?

  • five SIMPLE ways?

  • haha pro !

  • wtf does Traktor has to do whit Death Rows? :P

  • what controller is he using?

  • @HighAssGamer vci 100

  • Which version of Traktor is he using?

  • This tutorial is golden! If you know what I mean.

  • I so thought he was gonna say ´´Whats up guys ! This is Jesus from heaven.´´

  • youtube is the greatest place to learn how to dj .you just need eangolden , ellaskins and dj angelo's scratch lessons/ thx!

  • What songs are play?Sounds cool

  • @NEBLEEKS alright, heard where i can find it at end of video.

  • FIST PUMP!!!

  • wow what software is he using

  • @mrbasshimself21 Traktor

  • awesome explanation man... quick question. I'm kinda new in the dj world so bear with me. How would you transition from one song to another if there is a very significant difference in BPMs.?like from 128 to 120 or the other way?

  • @jakerussel You simply have to beatmatch the two songs. Usually make them meet in the middle.

  • @cod7strats thanks for the reply man. Ima try that one.

  • @jakerussel If you don't know your music well you shouldn't be DJing :)

  • @cod7strats I totally agree man. lol...But music is my thing. I can play the piano, drums, guitar, bass guitar and a little bit of sax. Got the hang of djing too the first day I got my software and equipments. I just didn't know how to the pros do it because despite of my talents in music, I am still a beginner at djing.

  • @jakerussel Glad you do... Didn't mean to be offensive towards you :) But yeah you have to know exactly what's happening in your songs so you can be ready for anything. If a song is too different of a beat to match evenly or well, try the first manoeuvre here (Hip Hop Slam) which is actually really effective if placed in between beats on two songs.

  • Question: For Mix #4 how do you know when its 16 counts left for the chorus to end? Do you really have to know the songs that well? Seems kind extreme when dealing with many types of music to be able to do know exactly when to deactivate loops like that. Great video btw!

  • @SwedishPersian you usually have a rough idea of your mix/songs and how your going to arrange it before its performed.

  • thank you very much for this brilliant tutorial!!! really awesome!

  • Can anyone tell me how to set the red flags for mix points in Traktor Pro 2?

  • awesome!:) thank you very much, I am definitely subscribing:)

  • WHAT?

  • Question, do they have to be the same bpm?

  • @dantespice it depends on you really.

  • @dantespice yes because then it sounds out of sync and doesnt sound very nice but depends

  • I do hiphop and have instrumental versions of each track i have. I scratch drop all my tracks in as well. When the 1st hook hits on the active song, i throw in the instrumental version of the next song and let it play until the end of the 2nd hook, then while just the instrumental is playing, i get the version with words and scratch over it for a couple measures before i drop it in. This is a good setup for doing double copy tricks like looping, stuttering and beat juggling during the set.

  • I like it but honestly still little confusing

  • what type of decks are they

  • Perhaps the best video on this subject on Youtube. Very well explained and easy to adopt. Awesome transitions there big ups blud.

  • @D3C0Y79 20 people don't need digital toys

  • This video always freezes at 0:43 for me... Seriously need these transitionz D;

  • How the do I do a micro drum roll on my 1210s and scratch mixer? I've looked everywhere but I can't see the button. It also doesn't tell me how many bars I got left. In fact it pretty much tells me fuck all.. Seriously though - that aint mixing, it looks more like you're pleasuring a female robot (with blue titties) ;-)

  • looks like vestax vci-100 or something similar, not sure.

  • @TheEaglezfan10 It is the Vestax VCI-100.

  • @therealsneakerhead72 GOD i´m so awesome.

  • what is that controller called?

  • what's the name of the controller you used in this video?

  • that last transition was amazing :O

  • fine tutorial, would have been nice to use some tracks that didn't sound like noise. hard to tell that he was actually mixing anything. but the technical points were great.

  • @DJSWEETT1888 dadalife n the other one is only drum shit

  • the best i've seen so far

  • That last transistion was amazing!

  • I WANT TO WORK AT DJ TECHTOOLS!!!!

  • 17 people couldn't transit for shit because it says Basic Dj Transitions

  • what program is that?

  • @TheSparkyDank traktor

  • @DJZombieChipmunk ....Damn I downloaded this program and it downloads my controller map settings but when I run the program it says my midi controller isn't hooked up???

  • @MistaMase102 he calls it "controllerism"

  • NICE SHIRT! and thank you!

  • so much inspiration thx

  • mix 1 aka the ray keith

  • your awesome dude that was seriously so helpful! your droping some serious knowledge! screw the rest of these shity djs trying to pass dribble off as advice!

  • im sorry this just isnt djing, its just software and a midi controller.

  • I like the echo / freeze, How would I do that on an s4? delay and something else? Or is there a particular way to map that in traktor?

  • Why does this video always freeze at 0:35 for mee... NEED THIS VIDEO OMGFGGG

  • I don't quite understand #2. Would anyone explain?

P.S. What do you mean by breakdown? Like a drop?

  • @DeagleGold Breakdown is the part in the song before the drop/chorus where everything gets slower and much of the song is minimalized or stripped down. Y'know, when everyone puts their hands in their air, anticipating some crazy shit

  • what kind of setup is that?

  • @cannonzim123 Vestax VCI-100 controller and Traktor.

  • Finally. A professional DJ who KNOWS how to explain. Screw Expert Village ;)

  • @DJVet0 What about ellaskins? :D

  • @DJVet0 Who listens to expert village anyways?

  • I guess everyone that is afraid to show creative talent hides behind easily trainable skills like beat matching instead of critiquing creativity and/or bringing something better to the table.

TROLLS WILL BE TROLLS. FEAR WILL RULE YOU.

  • Im not a professional dj yet but i think im watching the right guy

  • @yogurtpuke Yep, eangolden is great. He knows exactly what he's talking about. I use all of these transitions very often.

  • Why many people thinks that´s stupid when using the sync button? The technology is made to makes the things better, i enojy when i see a dj using players or make live act with computers, every thing we have to makes the things better or diferent. The music is a feeling it does not matter what are your toys, if you can make some original and creative is fine to the music!

  • Comment removed

  • i perfectly know the first 4 and now i'm training on the fifth one very good job

  • @toeknee691 I don't see sync as being a big deal, to me i just see it as giving the DJ more room/time to be creative with other aspects of their set. I dont see it as being "no skill" but if you sync and you still suck then yeah that's bad. To me most scratching sounds boring and repeatative, but everyone has different preferences

  • stupid stupid stupid..... Look at me I can press the sync button duhhuh

  • @toeknee691 ..... yeah, sir, that really doesn't make you a DJ haha

  • Dude do this with serato this takes no skill traktor is all about the sync. do this while keeping it timed. you guys all have no skill

  • Would you make fun of a guitar or bass player bobbing his head to the music?

  • Ok,now do that on virtual dj lol

  • the movement of your hands make things look fucking hard to do i dont know why LOL

  • Do You wanna Say to me how to mix 2 songs?? ehehehehhee

    i'm jokeing really good video

  • all of this guy's videos are awesome end of discussion i have spoken.

  • what controller are you using?? amazing videoo tnhxx

  • can i record white traktor le.???

  • @moviemakernl yes sirrrr, you can

  • WORD

  • I have a question, that thing you were doing on the left side while tapping the cue button. How do I do that with VirtualDJ without starting a cue loop (meaning, how do I set the cue so that it won't loop), or should I just crossfade to the other song really quickly?

  • @ReachFiDeSky Upgrade. Traktor scratch pro is definitely worth it. The move from VirtualDJ to Traktor opens some serious doors.

  • @ReachFiDeSky Try using the hot cue buttons / the "cue" thingy on the play controls / the C button on your keyboard. I hope that's what you want :D

  • /watch?v=P2i_7f6czqk

  • Can somebody please help me with a question I have:

At 1:33 it says "I'll start the mix, 16 counts before the end"

I understand this of course, I was just wondering, how exactly do you know its 16 counts to the end of the song, hasn't got there yet, you can't count into the future?

    Any help GREATLY appreciated!

    Cheers!

  • @000016958 he knows his tunes.

  • @000016958 Simple, if you wanna DJ, you have to know your songs...

  • i respect vinyl and digital DJ's, but all us digital DJ's are doing is embracing the future, what's wrong with that? I'm not saying that you guys are old, but we just want to do something a bit more future like. :P

  • heyyy dude yourr vidds are beast i watch all of them n i learned som much stuff thanxss broo n if you gett time can u please do a video about genres and songs that are good for clubb mixes thanks broo take care

  • Is there any way you can do this digitally? i mean without the controller, only with the mouse and keyboard?? Cause dj softwares for pc are pretty good, but having only the mouse on your disposal, the things you can do are very limitated!! Sry my english sucks!!

  • I like your belt buckle

  • which is this mixer?

  • @frkadeath Vestax Vci-100 i am pretty sure man :)

  • awesome video..cheers

  • Great help. Thanks.

  • This might be great for beginners. But none of these methods are smooth. In my opinion you can practice these methods but only to experiment with. Personally I always try to make the mix as smooth as possible to a point where the audience (or even myself) cannot tell that 2 tracks are even being mixed! There are many ways of doing this but it takes time and experience.

All of you aspiring dj's, remember this: It's NOT about the DJ, it's about the music!Learn music FIRST, then learn technique!

  • Comment removed

  • I agree with you. I'm just starting out and I enjoy mixing deep house and these effects would spoil the vibe. Would you mind shedding some light on techniques you have in mind? Tips on learning an exponentially large library would be awesome too! Cheers

  • I've been doing Chorus blend FOREVER where I take an 8 bar intro loop of the new track and SLOWLY (probably about a 3 minute transition) transition over

  • can someone explaine how he knows the new track is 16 counts long?

  • @oOlivindonutsOo you can either count it for yourself and set the cue points accordingly OR even more easily set the marker in the track in traktor at the right position without playing the track. because traktor shows you how many counts - or + you move the marker, you can set it at 8 or 16 or ... you can even drop a loop at the beginning of the track with 8 / 16 / ... bars and look where it ends to set an according cue point. there are many ways in traktor to accomplish things

  • Is there something similar to Echo Freeze in VDJ 7? or is that a (looks like) Trackor only?

  • this made me delete vdj

  • best tutorials on the internet.

    KEEP IT UP EAN!

  • i wish i can do this with Virtual dj i tried to do the first one with some Dubstep it sounded like Absolute Trash LOL help plz

  • Cool shirt! Really informative video

  • man this video is beeeerrrokkeeennnn!!!!!!

  • Hey I´m uing Traktro pro 2 and where ean has his yellow stuff that indicated where the beats and sounds are I only have weird ulrared waves! How can I change that??????

  • how does he know the new track is 16 counts long?

  • @TheXxRoSsXx he has heard it before...

  • Sorry I'm bad, but can someone tell me how to get that arrow thing in traktor pro at the start of the song at 0:33 ?

  • @iclickbarksin You have to create a CUE POINT....however, you can download the file form the original djtechtools page where the MP3 demo file of these songs come already with them.

  • yo i'm a hip hop dj/ that last mix was dope. very killer effect. got to rewatch that.

  • Yeah but if you talk over the tracks...

  • digital DJing allows for more creativity to be expressed faster...

  • I feel like i just hit a gold mine. I need to record a demo for a club who's possibly hiring me and I needed tips. THANKS MAN you are THE BEST

  • Seriously, Do you think John Digweed is not a real dj ?

Hernan Cattaneo ?? Zabiela ?? The list goes on forever.

All are huge dj's in the dance world and all of them use digital equipment.

I havent even played a club yet that has used Vinyl tables and I learned vinyl first because I thought I'd need the skill. Haven't even been able to use it yet. lol.

The world is changing like it or not. You can keep up with the times or stay in the past. Digital is the future.

  • @superfamouskid...dude you are correct...every ones not ready for the future, sadly it comes anyway.

  • nice video, always good to see some basic dj knowledge so well demostrated in a youtube video. technique 5 isn't exactly a regular basic techninque but that's pretty awesome use for a digital setup and one that i'm sure we'll be seeing more of being used.

  • @BtrayinMF Looks like a bit of the ole DJ Showmanship to me. Anyone know which decks he's using there btw?

  • @RockapeandRolla Thats his VCI 300 or 100, he uses that all the time, well before he created the Kontrol S4 for Native Instruments.

    GRiM

  • Awesome !!! Cheers from Brazil.!

  • thanks you, it was really useful.

  • dude why the fuck your so dramatic with your fucking hands? your just twisting a knob or moving a fader!

  • @BtrayinMF because hes awesome

  • @BtrayinMF Haha! You really have to feel the music to get something good going on. It looks funny, but believe it just happens naturally.

  • @BtrayinMF I think this is done because the total level of the mix has to be very well controlled...this is very noticeable with good equipments or large PAs

  • @BtrayinMF If youve ever played for a decent crowd you'll learn how boring you are if you stand there all stiff as you expected him to, part of being a DJ is having a great energy you can give to the crowd and being dramatic like so is a great start, and it also shows passion

  • @bluex217 Yes i play in front of crowds, no im not stiff i do dance while djing but you just said it even better that he is dramatic and i dont mean it in a good way so if you like to look at a dj that looks like he is getting shocked every time he moves a fader or turns a knobs then thats what you like, every one is not going to like the same shit

  • @BtrayinMF I agree its preference but taking what you said, not everyone is going to like the same shit that is precisely why I replied to waht you said i dunno it just sounded like you were negatively criticizing his style as u said you dont mean it in a good way well, not everyone is going to like the same shiz :P

  • @BtrayinMF if you are a professional that's what your hands do.. ;)

  • @djkouts probly the dumbest shit i ever read,

  • @BtrayinMF because he is getting into the beat of the music... duh.

  • @iTallented and if i was a dick rider like you holding eons nutsack i would agree but since im not i dont like it not that i dont like the mans mixes its dope i just dont like how he looks like hes having a fucking turrets attack while twisting knobs and shit

  • @BtrayinMF honestly.. i don't get what you mean... making all this dick rider nutsack turret attack twisting knobs... just enjoy it lmao.

  • @iTallented ok fair enough i still dont like it though

  • @BtrayinMF haha i know wat u mean :)

  • @BtrayinMF

cause it makes your mind think you're doing something way cooler

  • @efsq lmao thats a thumbs up

  • @BtrayinMF 2:27 made me lol

  • Ean always inspires me to make something, so i open up traktor, put on my headphones, sit back... and i still suck.

    oh well!

  • @djlastlaugh if you're using traktor and you have bpmed the track you can move forward and backwards by however many bars at a time by using the MOVE mode of the advanced deck controls (the down arrow under the loop bar, where you set cues and grids)

  • What was the song playing in mix #4?

  • with all due respect, I want to see my grandmother mixing with my s4... have yet to see a granny dj rockin the house :D

and I must say there are people so slow that even they cant mix with traktor without instruction... believe me I've tried

  • even my grandmother is able to mix with traktor...

    this tutorial is for unimaginative!

  • wow that last one was fantastic

  • Is there an easy way to measure how many bars away something is, Besides counting or setting the looper.

    ?

  • @djlastlaugh I'd say you have to prepare your tracks before...this involves creating the CUE points, at least in the tracks where you are going to try difficult mixes like this. Counting is a matter of knowing the song, watching the screen and zooming....also a DJ controller like the S4 or my Xone4D will have a jog dial to move forward and backwards very fast to mark CUE points every 4, 8 or 16 beats.

  • Untuck your shirt looks fucking stupid.

  • any1 who doesn't have gear, don't waste ur time, this is pretty hard if u wanna perform it with a mouse... believe me, ive tried

  • this guy has no idea how to beatmatch , but he is can mix pretty good

  • how can i put those red flags in on the kontrol s4?

  • for some reason, even though I can see the cross fade bar there's no tab to move and actually fade with... help??

  • whats the cdj's ur using for traktor?

  • -_- wow dude. i just found out ive been doin the hardest way possible since i started djing. SMH.

curse and a blessing. but i guess its a good thing starting at the top?

  • what type of controller is this i want it now that I decided i wanna upgrade from my e2

  • @DJTRITz You're looking at the Vestax VCI-100 SE it retails for around $549.00
