@Razieluk I agree. I think he's completely full of himself, bragging, and very very annoying. I loved the first 4 or 5 books of No1 Ladies-series, but after that: no more Mr. McCall Smith for me. I think maybe it's a Scottish trait - this self-importance, unfortunately in this man combined with a lack in charm.

I don't find him annoying or pompous. He writes several books a year and I imagine that the secretaries have quite a lot of work on their hand due to the ramifications of that.
Don't you think he's rather full of his own importance? So he has two secretaries, do we really think this is what happens?
