Why's everybody always calling every action game now a ripoff of God of War? The only thing coming out that's close to a ripoff of it is Dante's Inferno. God of War is hardly the 'original action game'. If anything, this game is closest to Devil May Cry in style and gameplay. I still think Ninja Gaiden is the best series. It's also the modern action game that goes the furthest back. All the way to the NES.

You miss the point. God of War is now the de-facto "action" game as you call it because mostly of the "new" things it added as well as it's presentation style becoming the new "standard". It doesn't have to be the "first" in a genre but if it does something in a "new way" or introduces "new concepts" then it can easily become the "new".

Besides in the mainstream... whatever sells the most becomes the new de-facto game anyway.

this is one of the first fights in the game, he has no access to the cooler weapons/techniques, and the guy playing blows. Bayonetta is a great game, and is not done justice here.
