Man! It's a bit harder in the demonstration to keep the scope level when yer tightenin' the screws down...ya hafta over compensate either side for 16th or 32nds of an in. in order to get it directly level...likewise, he's got top screws on this mounts, I've got an old Sako Finnbear with OEM mounts & the screws are on the bottom!
Midway USA, has everything you can think of for firearms, and the shipping is the FASTEST I ever experienced. 2 days at my door, on most of my orders.
doesnt the instruction manual tell you to remove the turret cap? please tell me if im mistaken, because i have leveled all of my scopes with the turret covers off...
yes you are mistaken, your scopes may bave an inner groove to sight in the crosshairs on windage and elevation. But in ohter instances for example my scope there is a little handle so you can adjust the sights on elevation and windage. You can't put a mini level on that
Maybe I got a bad one from Midway, but the level-level-level i purchased did not work worth a hoot. I adjusted the scope so and rifle so both level bubbles were plumb. Upon looking through the scope the reticle was VERY crooked. tried it on another rifle with same negative results.
lol, the last "level" is just a representation meaning the cross hairs should be level once the other two components are level..there is no last physical level
I have a question I use a rilfe with a scope for some reason when I get my sign pic and aim it right on target it. the bullet moves to the left. how do I fix this problem??
cyan1de3 is right, i've had this problem. i mounted a scope and didnt notice the cross hairs were turned since i tend to cant when i shoot. It was rather confusing when i adjusted the elevation and started shooting to the left
I like to hang a heavy fishing sinker from a 10lb line strung from the cieling, and just shoulder my rifle to aim and test for cant. Cost me less than $1.
What??? It doesnt matter how level the rifle is or even how level the crosshairs are. As long as when you shoot you line up the horizontal line as best you can on the target when firing.
Of course it matters if the rifle is level and the scope is level. If the crosshair is not made to be level with rifle then your windage and elevations will not change your POI to where you want it. If the rifle is, for example, canted to the left and you put a minute of elevation on your scope. You will end up with a POI that is up and left and not directly up where it is needed. Likewise, if you put 1 minute of left windage on your POI will end up down and left rather than straight left.
Me too. I have done this for a number of scopes. Not sure I should have done that in the last house... Our house builders were morons and I wouldn't be surprised if my door frames were out of level.
lol think im just gonna get a couple really small levels for from now on. i hate turning screws on a scope mount to much, and every time i look the cross hairs are tilted one way or a nother. leveld is prolly best but i do just fine the otherway.
i dont use levels i just point gun to the floor and looks at the crosshairs works good for me

i think that the problem that u r having is that the stock of the gun is not level. this is usually the case. most gun stocks usually arent level.
bello787878 2 years ago
@dmproske - perhaps when you hold the rifle, you don't hold it level.

Thats a funny video. Makes some sense. But most of all is making sure the reticle is as level as possible when you shoot.

if it isnt leveled with the turrets your scope is poorly made

CyaN1de3 3 years ago 14
You are correct. I've seen about 1/2 MOA windage and elevation change in POI before I had my scope properly leveled.
