I'm rooting for you! If you decide you want to seek out some medical help, there's that Chantix stuff that I've heard about. I've known a couple of people who were able to quit with the help of Chantix. My grandma used something called Commit Lozenge. It took her a while, but she managed to stop eventually. Good luck with it!
@z0mbiiFiles Thanks a million. I am hoping to not need any medical intervention. I see it as using a substance to kick a substance. Kind of a double negative. I dont even like taking Tylenol for a headache.
@jwhitevlog Same same. I try to avoid using any sort of medicine and the like because I'm afraid that if there comes a time when I really need it, my body will have built up a resistance to it and it wont work as effectively. So I just ride my headaches and colds out if they're not life-threatening.
Yes, I believe quitting cold turkey only sets people up for failure. Gradual decrease in smoking prolly works better(I wouldn't know since I don't smoke!) But I did give up cokes last May and I did it gradually. :) Good luck man!
@randidb20 Thanks a million. I think giving up anything cold turkey as you say set them up for failure. No doubt there are those that can do it but they have way more will power than me.
@chelseafiander Everyone should try to quit I think. I can remember when I had energy. Now I am just 31 years young but feel 60, get winded just walking to the mail box.
just quit! I have been quit for 10 years... pick the day... say 2 weeks from now and even if you have smokes left at the end of that day, quit. I had my last pack for 5 years after I quit (it still had 18 left in it).
@jwhitevlog Trust me when I say... I don't either. But I also purchased a bicycle with the money I was supposed use on smokes for the year! It is really hard to look at a bike that costs around $700 hanging in the garage and not use it :P
It is also pretty cool when you can ride 20 miles and not pass out!
You can do it! You just have to say "this is it, I have finished them" (like you had X amount of smokes allotted to you and you have finished them)
@jwhitevlog (remember I quit 10 years ago and I think they cost $2.00 a pack then) Here is something to look forward to... food. You can taste it! Smell... you can smell again!
There are the hard parts... like being a giant dick... but that fades after awhile and people who know you are going through it are bit more lenient , the cravings get less and less. Pretty soon it is hard to be around smokers because you don't like the smell rather than it causing you to want one.
@MckMick No doubt for sure. I decided to cut way back for a few days before stopping all together because the times I have tried this before it was cold turkey and I failed hard after a few days. Longest I went was 9 days but then in one day was back to a pack a day. Hopefully be cutting back for a few days it will ease the withdraw symptoms a little bit.
@goalie4life80 Thanks. My hope is that by quitting I will miraculously wake up one day and be a stud. LOL:) Probably wont happen but my 7yo wont be able to out run me anymore lol.
@cappa37 Thanks. much appreciated. Its only been like 2 hours now and I am already getting cold sweats lol that's bad. Hopefully this will be it. and I will slowly be able to get away from tobacco and start healing.

@iamtherealzim I did the math and between my wife and I we spend $3,840 per year, that's horrible. Its freaking car payment.

Goodluck! Cutting back is good but having an occasional smoke is bad because 1 smoke a week can turn into 1 a day and back into addiction O:

@MckMick I remember the last time The smell would actually make me feel sick. I used that to my advantage but the symptoms prevailed
