  • I wonder if he ever went solo :D

  • When he took off his glasses....he's an animal.

  • Jon looks slightly peeved....

  • Love Jon stewart's reaction at 0:05!

  • ......how did he do that ON COMMAND? I thought *I* knew too much about Mercury.

  • the metal THAT makes you insane... would've been really good if he didn't slip that up

  • @m0rbidh0rr0r From left to right; John Body, Karl Fethenberg, Klaus Satanista and Los Vagina.

  • LOL Stephen is amazing, and so nerdy.

  • colbert (but seriously all these guys) are ridiculously smart and quick, i wish i had even 1/16th of their skill

  • "metal who makes you insane" :)

  • What was with Stewart in the beggining? Was he falling asleep or something? Lol;p I love his little jolt;p

  • "I like big words!"

  • steve is all "oh stephen..."

when stephen starts to talk about mercury.

  • haha wow

  • "I like big words" lol

  • 0:05 - lol at jon being startled

  • After that Mercury rant, any time Stephen Colbert wants to appear on QI, I'm sure he'd be most welcome. The audience wouldn't know who he is, but he'd quickly bowl them over.

  • @PurushaDesa They're really not familiar with Colbert in the UK? I have no frame of reference on it, but that's slightly surprising. Do they know Daily Show/Stewart much?

  • @guidedbyalan

TDS is already a fairly niche audience in the UK, being on a sister channel of Channel 4 called More 4, where Jon Stewart is by no means a mainstream celebrity, outside fans of the show. It then follows that the Colbert spin off is even less familiar, as it's only on subscription services like Sky or Virgin.

In short, you really have to care about American political satire in the UK to know Jon or Stephen. Then again we're a bit more aware of the US than the US is aware of us! XD

  • I'm assuming this was taped before the Colbert Report went on the air. P.S. It's ok Stephen, I like big words too!

  • It almost feels like he's going to go retro novelty rap at the end: "I like big words and I cannot lie"

  • The cutest and funniest sound in the world is Jon Stewart giggling. That is so hilarious :D

And Stephen Colbert knows what's up with the Roman and Greek mythology. REPRESENT.

  • Stephen Colbert is so intelligent. God, I love it.

  • when was this?

  • lol either that or he came in his pants

  • amazing! i love them all

    Stephen and Jon most!!

Best looking man in a suit: STEPHEN COLBERT

  • he always jokes about looking tired and worn out without the tv makeup on.

  • Or the planet??? XD

  • lol. 1:35 Steve Carrell "Oh my god..."

  • Oh, Stephen....my hero. :-)

  • How so?

  • I like big words lol

  • haha is it just me or did stephan look like bob sagat when he took his glasses off? 00:21

  • agreed

  • "...Or the metal that makes you insane?" lol

    Stephen Colbert is the greatest!

  • YOU HAAAAAD TO MENTION MERCURY

    <3 Jon.

  • This seems like a foreshadowing of the colbert report

  • Firstly, Jon's student loan comment - LOL!

I LOVE Steve's reaction as Colbert just keeps taking his rant one step further.

    "Oh my god"

    So adorable!

Colbert is so FAST and incredibly smart. He's an amazing improviser. It makes me dizzy just watching him.

  • "...or the metal that makes you go insane?"

    LOL!!

  • Well, that guy was rude, I understand he wanted to complement Stephen but there's a stage of about three official and well-recognized comedians, he could have toned down the superlatives a bit...

  • How long ago was this recorded? Just wondering, because it obviously predates The Colbert Report.

  • This was years ago, back when Stephen Colbert and Steve Carell were correspondents. Judging the younger look of Stewart, it seems like it was around 2002.

  • My favorite part about the Mercury riff is about two thirds of the way through when it becomes clear that he's just gonna keep going and Carrell mutters "Oh my God" under his breath.

  • so witty

  • You had to mention mercury!

  • what year was this?

  • LOL I love the beginning of this!

  • What a showoff...but justifiably so:)

  • solo effort like The Colbert Report lol?

I like big words. (since apparently they're like magic.)

  • This was before the Colbert Report

  • I have a membership to that museum, I wish these guys would come again, esp Stephen.
