  • this is KAP ??????????

  • @SuperGanjamafia Samick Ultra

  • I would praise them , if they use non-cheat bow with stabilizer and shits but traditional bows . olympic scums are bunch of cheaters .

  • @sonichedgie You are a fool and are obviously extremely useless. Who are they cheating against you retard they shoot in the same division there not shooting against guys with longbows. They compete on an even field find me a guy or girl who shoots longbow that trains 6 hours a day 6 days a week. Scum you're FU$#ing scum you have no idea the amount of work that is involved to even make Olympics. And either do i but i know its a lot more then you will ever do in your life. Non cheat bow WTF

  • @frodobilbo100 : lol , if you are so good , do olympic with long bow .

  • @sonichedgie Idiot where do I say how good i am. Longbow yeah that would look real good in the Olympics along with swimmers wearing nothing and Sprinters running barefoot and boxers fight bare fist and fencing can use swords that actually kill. Get with the times.

  • @frodobilbo100 : hmm ? long bow shot to target wont kill any person .

swimmers wearing nothing and Sprinters running barefoot would be perfectly fair .

    I like the idea ! :D

  • @sonichedgie You are an idiot, please put up a video of yourself shooting consistently in the the middle of the target with a traditional bow, please just put up that video just do it go on.

  • @FastRory ie wasnt calling it a silly bow. He was responding to an idiot that commented it was a silly bow with all the tech stuff on it. The idiot claimed that a barebow or longbow was the real bow and the olympic bow was silly.

  • Great archer she is great form. She can make it happen. To The Koreans it's not a sport it's a religion.

  • Great archer she is great form. She can make it happen. To The Koreans it's not a sport it's a religion.

  • It's very simply the best archer in the world. Her tecnichal is perfect.

  • Hands down the best recurve form in the world, man or woman. She is the only 1400 recurve shooter in the world. Watch and emulate if you want to improve your shooting form.

  • Zero of those shots were filmed where they hit... Makes you wonder, huh?

  • @monkeyslaye Makes me wonder if you practice archery at all^^

Couldn't care less about the hits, she's showing a brilliant form and that's far rarer than a couple of X's.

  • @monkeyslaye In advance sorry for my english. I don't want to hurt you, not a bit. If you feel that, is only my lack of english. Btw most of archers thing she is the best archer in the world. We (the archers) just can learn from her shootings. Believe me the score is not important in this film, much more the perfect movements. And believe me again she not miss the yellow. As i see the angle of arrow she shoot at 70 meter. At this distance the yellow is ~24 cm diameter. See her other films. B.R.

  • @Zsorti i bet your cute, your really polite and though your english wasn't perfect, it still seems like you tried really hard to get your point across kindly.

  • of course she is korean... like ALL the great archers :p

  • simply the best archer of our time.

  • whats the point of this vid if we can't see where the arrow is hitting...

    she has great form.

  • Park Sung hyun I LOVE YOU...post a arrow in my heart...

  • Let's see that target!

  • She's not just the best woman in the world. She is the only archer to ever shoot a 1400 FITA round...male or female.

  • that for recurve

  • she lets the bow swing after the shot because if she holds the bow, the arrow could be bothered by her holds. so if she let the bow swing after shot, it wont bother the arrow curve.

  • As much as I don't like seeing stabilizers on recurves, at least she's not using one of those wheel-and-string toys called compounds.

    Pretty gal, too, IMO.

  • @battousai9439 compound is the future idiot

  • @123maxence321

...did you just reply to a seven-month-old comment only to make an unintelligent remark supporting the destruction of an antique, ancient art?

    LOL. X3

  • @battousai9439 i just did because compound bows shoot smooter then a loud and slow recurve bow

  • @123maxence321 No, they make up for your lack of skill and/or dedication.

  • I doubt she would be shooting a 66 inc bow at the moment. Pretty sure it would be 68. The limb curve actually looks good and she is the highest scoring female archer in the world!. I sure dont see any reason to shortern or even change anything.

  • Would she not be better off with a 23inc riser !. makeing a 64inch bow ?.

  • because after shot u should stay in the position (till the arrow reach the target) .. well it is like that in traditional archery

  • why does she let the bow swing after her shot?

  • to get a (near) perfect shot, you must hold the bow with the palm and thumb area of your hand, not with the fingers. this is done to avoid gripping the bow too hard and to let the bow make a slight "jump" forward as you release. She uses a sling which keeps the bow from falling on the ground when this happens, so the bow swings. You don't have to do it like this though, there are various ways of doing it, but they're all pretty hard to explain.

    Hope i helped.

  • Wow, i really dont know much about achery, i thought it was simply point and shoot but i guess theres much more to that...

    thank you

  • because if u don't do that the vibration of the bow when it shoot goes all to your arm and after ....500 arrow u can't shoot anymore XD by swinging the bow, the bow take all the vibration and u are more stable

  • Bows naturally kick upward when shot so a long rod is used to pull the front down which leads to the bow swinging down, there are several reasons why this is advantageous and if you are interested I suggest googling 'the recurve archers reference guide'.

  • I totally agree with you, archery is a very complexed sport. I'm an archer for many years so I can appreciate a master-technique like the one in that movie. I just wanted to express how effortless it might seem though it's terribly hard to do something like that. If anyone got the impression that I was being ignorant in my previous post then I want to clarify that it was not my intention :)

    Hail all pursuing perfection

  • same here... i only started archery last weekend but (probs due to my high dexterity) i have gone from missing by 2m at 10m rage to hitting at 20cm diameter sized target at a success rate of 1 in 15 all within only 2 hours of shooting... and i know as i get better my accuracy will increase b=only in small amounts until u get to Olympic lev were 3mm off is the decider between gold and siver

    thomas

  • It looks so effortless...

  • May i know which webs can i get to see how OLYMPIC STYLE OF SHOOTING(KOREAN STYLE) ?

  • lol...many people are only talking great things about korea like "wow!they have brillant forms.Their releasing the arrow is perfect!!!BRAVO..BRAVA..WHATEV ER!'

THEY ARE ONLY TALKING ABOUT THEIR STRENGTH...

whATS their weaknesses!!I need to know!!thxs

  • @tonybuzanmindmapping their weakness is there cooking.

  • Park Sung-Hyun is the holder of many world records; WR 1405- SFITA, WR 682- OR; WR 351 -70M; WR 350- 50M, Gold Medalist 2004 Olympics Individual & Team

  • Did you know that she is THE ONLY RECURVE ARCHER, male or female, to ever shoot a 1400 FITA? WOW.

  • is park sung hyun going for any competition ?

  • nooooooooooo.... dont retire ur the best!!!

  • She is an amazing talent, she is THE best recurve archer in the world! Its just funny that when you look at her form its not "text book" so to speak, now Im fully aware she is amazing but she also dosent get her shoulder below her arrow at full draw and her elbow isent perfectly alined at full draw either! It just highlights how a perfect line up and a very low shoulder arent necesary! Well they are but Im sure you get what Im saying.... I hope anyway!

  • in korea there is less of a focus on the line from the front. All korean coaches train you to get your shoulders aligned correctly, the front doesn't matter, her elbow could be two inches lower yes, but for her that would mean her scapulae would not be in the correct position.

  • She got engaged to Park Kyoung-Mo. That would be one heck of an archery family.

  • I agree with didjamatic... I think allthe archers should conquer bac this thread!!!

  • Best woman archer in the world IMHO. Too bad we won't be able to see her anymore T.T

  • Is she retiring?

How about Park Kyung Mo? He said Beijing was going to be his last Olympics.

  • They're both retiring I believe, at least Park Sung Hyun for sure. They're newly wed ^^

  • I also minor in Journalism. I analyze style, word choice, and so many other different elements of writing when it comes to articles, and I agree that the western media twisted the Tibetan RIOTS, they are NOT "peaceful protests" as said by CNN.

If you lived in HK all you life, then you need to go out more, boy. You think you understand when you really don't.

  • One world one dream. The atmosphere here looks more like we are the same family on earth.

I like travelling around the world to widen my scope of life. I've been to England, France, Italy, Germany, Austria, Poland, Czech, Hungary, Holland, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Australia, Egypt, Jordan, Japan...... I've seen quite a lot of different cultures and I've talked to people from different racies and counties. Like most of the Chinese, I treasure friendship in a mutually respected way.

  • I have seen, understood, and participated in the hatred of the Western world when I lived in Saudi Arabia. When I moved to New York, I read and watched biased news and newspapers about the Middle East. Then I felt the Americans hatred about the Middle East, where I have met my most amazing friends.

I major in Computer Science and helped design an anti-cnn website while I was at Tsinghua Uni and made so many friends. I agree with Phelps, the Chinese are extremely friendly.

  • Thanks for speaking out the truth and helping in the design of the anti-CNN website. I visited the website too. Thanks for everything you've done for the Chinese people.

I visited Tsinghua and Beijing Uni 10 years ago. Personally I like Beijing Uni more, essentially because of the beautiful campus. How's life in Tsinghua? Did you go around in Beijing during your stay?

Beijing & Xian are the 2 Chinese cities that I like the most, because of the historical and cultural atmosphere.

  • Yeah it was incredible while I was there. Unfortunately I was only able to see the major tourist sites that was planned by the school, the Great Wall, the Terracotta Army - the usual. I couldn't visit any other places on my own because of the school work.

I really wanted to visit PingYao, Hongcun, and even Xitang. I've only seen pictures and it looks amazing, it seems like you would be living in a history book!

  • Yes, I do like history very very much indeed.

It was my favourite subject at school.

In Chinese proverb, we have an old saying that history is just like a mirror, it helps the king to rule the country. Personally, I strongly believe in it.

  • This is a video of one of the greatest archers in history. Neither she or her shooting have anything to do with politics.

  • 24/8/2008. It is history.

    China is the champion.

    51 gold, 100 medals.

People's Republic of China first took part in Olympic games in 1984. We controlled our own pace, step by step, to get up to the top in only 24 years.

    Sydney 2000 28 gold, 3rd place...

    Athens 2004 32 gold, 2nd place...

    Beijing 2008, 51 gold, champion!

Sports is the reflection of the overall strength of a country.

Here we confidently announce the coming of the new era. The 21st century belongs to China.

  • Yes congratulations, but the US still won overall medals.

"Sports is the reflection of the overall strength of a country." Partly true, but you should read more books, watch more documentaries. These "athletes" are taken away from their parents without consent. But of course you are brainwashed, I can already predict your response.

  • Yes, I used to be brainwashed. Brainwashed by the western media. In 1964 Tokyo Olympics, USA 36G 26S 28B Total 90 USSR 30G 31S 35B Total 96 US claimed they won by the gold medals. In 2008, CHINA 51G Total 100 USA 36G Total 110 US claimed they won by the overall medals. Do you rank by the gold or the overall medals, or you just claim yourself the winner without any ranking? If the weight of a gold is equivalent to that of a bronze, then why everyone is chasing for the gold?
  • When your media accuses China for faking in opening ceremony, why don't you accuse sydney for faking too.

Type 'sydney olympic orchestra' in google & you'll find all the details.

As you said, you should read more books, watch more documentaries, but not that produced by the western media. You've been brainwashed for so many years and the worst thing is that you are still not aware of it. I am so sorry about you.

I read enough books & I trust them no more.

    Can you predict my response?

  • Some shows here even ridicule the government, insult the president. The government here has no control over the authors, no control over bloggers. Have you ever heard of Shi Tao, a journalist who was jailed by the Chinese government for speaking his mind?

Do you truly believe every single book in the libraries in the US all have authors born in the US only? Stupid assuming that most of the books I read are produced by the media machine.

  • I suppose I stayed in the libraries of UK not any shorter than you do in US. I know what is on the books in ENGLISH. Have you finished uni education, boy? You know what is on the books in Chinese?

Do you know the US government pay some of the Chinese writters for articles against the government? Do you know if they are speaking for their minds or the US minds?

That is the reasons why most of the Chinese people support the government.

Read more books, that's good to both of us.

  • Listen to what Michael Phelps said.

Beijing Olympic is the best Olympic games he has ever participated in. The people there are nice and friendly. The food is good......

That is the real side of the modern China.

If you have ever visited China, you would have felt the same thing. Misunderstanding originates in what u r allowed to see.

I live in Hong Kong, I am free to see the good and bad things of the east and west. Ask yourself, r u allowed to see the good things of China, boy?

  • Independent documentaries are not produced by the media machine. You sound like a fool assuming that all the written literature I have read and all the videos I have watched are produced by the western media.

"I read enough books & I trust them no more."

You stopped trusting the written literature because your communist government regulates it. If your government regulates written literature, it controls what you learn - this is the definition of brainwashing. You have just proven my point.

  • I did not assume anything. But you live in an environment that everything about China is wrong.

Have you ever thought that the things you saw on TV in your country about Tibet few months ago are actually a distortion of the thruth?

Only the Swiss media had the courage to stand up and say they made a mistake. How about the US, German and Canadian media. Where is the courage? They cover up the fact just like what they did in Sydney Olympic opening ceremony.

  • Japan for example completely erased the Nanking Massacre in its history books. Almost every single Japanese inside Japan thinks it never happened. If you are Chinese, you will agree with me that the Nanking Massacre is a horrible time in history. You know that the Japanese are brainwashed because the government regulation of literature.

  • But the thing is I lived in Hong Kong, a place ruled by the English governemnt, for 30 years. If I was brainwashed, I was brainwashed by the English government instead of the Chinese. Have I just proven your point?

Yes, I used to be brainwashed by the western books, authors, and media over the last 3 decades that China was an absolute monarchy.

Of course you are right that the Japs are brainwashed by their government too. It's just a pity that you don't know you are one of the victims too.

  • In China, adolescent under the age of 18 is not given the legal right to sign a valid consent. The written consent is usally signed by the parents. Your statement 'These athletes are taken away from their parents without consent' is therefore not true. The true is many parents wish to send their sons and daughters for formal training, hoping them to be the olympic champions.

I don't know if the 5-year-old kids in US are given the legal right to sign consent or not. That'll be too awful to me.

  • I was born and raised in the Philippines, I studied in Saudi Arabia for 6 years and now continuing studying in New York, just recently returned from Tsinghua Uni for the spring semester. I have read literature near and far. Yes it was wrong of me to assume you were in mainland China, have you been outside of HK?

  • I was born in Mainland China and I was rasied in Hong Kong since 10. I was major in medicine, that was long time ago though.

Hong Kong is a place too small to me. I don't really want to stay in Hong Kong if possible. So I go overseas 2 to 3 times a year whenever I have vacations.

I do like Europe, where I can breath the fresh air of freedom. I am sure you know what I mean. I wish one day in the future, Chinese people can breath the fresh air of freedom too in our motherland. :-)

  • @GFSdoc , your results might be true if China would quit lying about the ages of their athletes and stop getting stripped of the medals. Cheating doesnt count.

  • GSFdoc do u ever kno wen to shut ur mouth...U cant ignore the fact that Chinese spectators were very loud and annoying...There are more Chinese Athletes in the Olympics than Korea just because of South koreas small size...reason for more medals won thn korea...

Korea has the 3rd most medals won so far... So get ur info correct GSFdoc

  • I've answered all your comments in other clips.

Do you want me to post all the arguments at other video clips here again, which will certainly make you feel very unhappy? I am sure you know what I mean. You want me to post or not post? Give me an simple answer, OK.

I am so sorry about you.

  • Oh yes, and you are so high and mighty because you say our "arrogant self-esteem" has been shattered.

China may have won by one point, but it was one match. The South Korean women are still very formidable and strong opponents..and your comment of how the "dream team has ended"..it's very laughable.

Korea may have lost the individual gold, but still maintains a record in team..even setting a new record for the 24-arrow round.

    It isn't a big defeat.

  • Ha Ha

Look at what was on the Korean newspapers and you know why I described it as the arrogant self-esteem.

One day before Zhang won, the Korean paper claimed the Koreans would win in the Women's final without any difficulty, and the Chinese only know how to self-comfort themselves.

Now who are self-comforting themselves, the Chinese or the Koreans? You can't even bravely face the defeat and try to push all the faults to the Chinese spectators. How silly it is.

  • 3 days ago, Korean media claimed Korea as 1 of the top 3 countries in sports & they would surpass China to take the 2nd in Olympic 2008.

Yesterday, China took 8 golds, exceeding the total number of golds of Korea. China keeps on leading and Korea fell to the 6th.

Koreans claimed great success in archery, 2 gold 2 silver.

China took 8 golds 1 silver in 9 weightlifting events, all golds in diving & all golds in men gymnastics now.

1 world 1 dream, I HOPE KOREANS HAVE A NICE DREAM.

  • If you had won 6 straight olympic golds in an event, and had more than enough talent to continue the streak, of COURSE you would comment that you are expecting to sweep.

Didn't China expect to sweep with Liu Xiang in the 110 hurdles? Do you call that arrogance?

And other countries expected sweeps in their respective events as well, because they truly believe that they have to talent to do so. Not arrogance.

  • Not sweep, more like..taking gold, for that matter.

  • Park was defeated by 109 to 110 in the final yesterday.

  • The Chinese DEFEATED the Korean archery.

The dream team of Korean archery came to an end yesterday in Beijing olympic.

One ordinary Chinese female defeated 3 Koreans in a row and destroyed the dream team, shattering the arrogant self-esteem of the whole country into pieces.

Archery is never a traditionally strong event of China. It is Korean's. This gold medal is not important to us because we have 21 more from other events.

It is a big defeat to South Korea though.

  • and you lost to korea in swimming haha and never will

  • Haha, I am sure you know you are wrong now.

  • what riser is that? limbs are samick extreme, but i can't figure out what riser is that.

  • is her forename park or sung-hyun?

  • last name: Park

    first name: Sung-Hyun

  • thanks!

  • In this video park is praticing in the Seoul 88 archery field in .. (Korea) However she most practices down south near Daejoen and Waesong

  • so beautiful

  • she makes it look so easy... living proof, practice makes perfect.

  • AMAZING form. When she releases, her body is *completely* still. Korean archers are amazing.

  • whats the difference between Olympic Recurve and recruve?

  • There is no difference. But the olympic comitee has forbideen to use the name "olympic" for the recurvebow!

  • Comments on comments:

For one, she doesn't use her arms that much. It is mostly her back. Her release is beautiful.

Secondly, if you don't like "these bows" I guess you don't like Olympics archery much. Trying going to the Olympics with Robin Hood's bow...not gonna happen.

  • U hav no idea

  • I dunno...seems like a longshot to me. No pun intended. I mean I have all the respect in the world for traditional bows. If you have a video clip of someone shooting traditional at the Olympics, I would retract my previous statement.

  • She must be really strong. Look her shoulder and her arms.

  • i like the original, old bows better.

  • she has got perfect technique

i working on archery about 4 years i am going to buy a new bow i think it will be a Hoyt Matrix with x-fact

  • some says that what type of bow u use doesnt effect u.. but for me it does.. if im using a stupid handle with a stupid limb.. i am sure at my worst at competition...

  • i don't like these bows. they seem so over engineered.

  • talkin abt whatever we use, see and touch everyday... they are also overly engineered

  • museves is right but the bow should be elegant not mechanized i like the wooden stuff when it comes to looks and grace.

Hell these things look like some kind of sniper rifle with a string for a trigger

  • WHAT BOW IS THAT?

    RISER?

    LIMB?

  • i think its a samick handle..

  • since shes from korea, I would guess Samick, since they sponsore korea

  • Samick Agulla Ultra handle

    Samick Masters limbs

  • me too

  • I am, I've got four of them...

  • anybody here still pulling recurve??

  • Pinche tecnica PERFECTA o_0, es una leyenda a los 24 años U_U

  • Best technique seen ever.

I shoot compound... it almost make me wanting to return to recurve.

  • i hope i dont ever piss this lady off- she has almost perfect aim and her calm form is amazing

  • Her bow hand/wrist is so relaxed during the release...nooo fair ! lol

  • Its like if she's trowing the same arrow in all of the shoots. Thats doing the same tecnique!!

  • Since my last post I've found specs on Park's arrows used in Athens 2004. She is pulling at least 44, possibly 46 lbs.

  • Anybody know how many pounds shes pulling?

    Cheers

  • Miss Park pulls 42/43 lbs at full draw. Not many recurve women pull more than that

  • real bows are made of wood like ash hickory or yew

  • obviously you are not an archer. You must be a rennasaince actor. No "real" archer would make your comments. Archers embrace all forms of archery including crossbow. There is a comradery with archers you are missing, thus you are a pretender. Go live in your fantasy

  • i hate those modern bows they look so silly!

  • Park is the best archer in the world. She has the most gold medals, world championships and is the only recurve shooter in the WORLD to break 1400 in a competition. Up until last year not even womens compound archers had done that. Only the mens compound. That silly bow will shoot a 3 inch group at 80 yards in her hands. I bet you cant shoot a 3 inch group 5 yards from the target.

  • Well put. Phew...1400+ Would that be 5 FITA stars?

  • @chris4gretchen bet I can~

  • It appears you are correct. You can tell I am a niave recurver. In which case, Park *is* better than compounders.

  • She is world's current number 1 female archer?

  • Oh YEAH!

1405 out of 1440 in Fita star Lady

beating even compounders women she's for the moment even better than women compounders ;)

  • compunders shoot an 'x' for a ten though, so it means although scores are greater, the compounders are hitting dead centre more

  • yeah right ;)

o_o I'd really like to see a matchplay PSHvsany female compounder though =D

  • actually on Fita competitions outdoors compounds score the outer ten ring as well as recurves.

  • @cpcpeter NO! in outdoor fita compounders get big ten and x ! it is only indoors where big ten counts as 9 for compound

  • this is an awesome video. hope korea wins gold again in beijing! The mens need a gold in the individuals though! T_T

  • Koreans are good but they can be beat!

  • You're definitely right about that. I see the Australians and the Japanese as Korea's biggest threat. :D

  • India, even the Chinese! Anyone who makes it to the Olympics has a very good chance of getting that gold piece, depends on the day and how you hold your tongue!

    Do you shoot?

  • are you korean? howd you get these videos man.. wow
