Warner Brothers Looney Tunes took over Merry Meleodies in 1944...far more superior and enjoyed by several generations of movie fans until the late 1990's..
Just imagine a single cell from the original 1939 Bugs Bunny is worth $45000 dollars
Is this a dream? Yes! I remember when I had a dream of watching a cartoon on a PD VHS tapes with all the WB cartoons on there, they used the wrong intro. All of Blue Ribbon MM reissues after 1955 did used the wrong intro.
Um, I hate to break it to you, but it's not fake. I grew up watching these cartoons and I specefically was looking for this particular intro, because I liked it more that the other one. So, you may want to get your facts straight before you start talking "crap".
People call this "fake," but it's not exactly fake, it just switched the songs around. The song playing is "Merry Go Round Broke Down," which is actually the theme to Looney Tunes, not Merrie Melodies.
The theme to Merrie Melodies is "Merrily We Roll Along," I think.
What he means is this music is not normally used in this introduction for a Looney Tunes cartoon, it is normally used in the older Porky Pig cartoons. So he just dubbed the music to make it sound different.
"Merrie Melodies" and "Looney Tunes" are different in some ways.
In the early days, Melodies were music based (with scores from WB films); and Tunes featured the regular characters like Bugs, Porky, Daffy, etc.
MM tended to have more budget, the Tunes were more... loony :)
Later on, there were no distinctions.
The music intros are different - for Looney Tunes, the score is called "Merry Go-Round Broke Down" and the Merrie Melodies music is "Merrily We Roll Along".
ACCTULLY THATS HOW IT WAS ORIGENILY INTENDED

@j0hnny63 It's a Merrie Melodies intro sequence set to the music which was (at the time) only used for Looney Tunes.

This is the Looney Tunes theme not the Merrie Melodies theme. THERE'S A DIFFERENCE!
bmcj199 3 years ago
You're quite correct. This is Looney Tunes. They are two separate pieces of music.
