Alice coltrane is one of the greatest things to come out of the seventies. I've almost all of her stuff...brilliant...Check out Bill Lasswell's remixes of Illuminations called "Music in Sacred Light"  : it's magic! By the way, Paul Weller did a small tribute to Alice on his album "22 Dreams". Cheers.

One of the most beautiful works Carlos ever did and mostly neglected and panned by the idiot music press, but one of my favorites. I think he did this when he was at the peak of his spiritual insight. On this track he says more with those few notes and no lyrics than most do in a lifetime of jawing. It always brings a smile to my face when I hear it, and a warmth in my heart.

Hey, is this a sample from the album Illuminations? because I've wanted to hear something from that album for a LONG time! I think it is because the guitar playing sounds like early 70's Santana. The way the album was recorded sounds very clean and almost like a soundtrack, which is different from say, Caravanserai and other Santana classics. Now I just need someone to post one of the longer songs from that album, and I'll be the happiest guy in the world! :)
