The part between 2:00 min. and 2:04 min. is the most hillarious of the whole segment!!!! That's teh poster of irrational behavior. I whish that single 4 second section can be bradcasted nationwide in prime time. pleaaaseeee....!
He is incorrect about Bush being religious. Bush was only religious in appearance, like so many others. He wanted votes as well as people to go along with him. We have had that with several presidents, and will continue the tradition. Religion in appearance only.
Blaming all of the world's corruption and personal irresponsibility on religious belief. This is a hipocritic argument. He points out the fallacy of humankind but propagates a belief. Not a belief in a diety who has given laws and promises unbias judfement against the law, but a belief in the nobility of man...a belief in humanism. Humans created all of the chaos and propagate sin. Not God. Why glorify men...so weak and corruptable? Believing you aren't corruptable is Narcissistic...not virtue.
So ? whats your point? Who the fuck is glorifing man? Where in the movie is he blaming ALL of the bad things in this world on religion??? It is a fact that most wars are motivated by religion. Would 11 september have happend if religion did not exist? would the War in Iraq have happend, what about Israel and Palestina?
@pauseinhell I can't believe I just noticed this, but yes, yes, and yes. Israeli's took their land and continue to do so. It pisses Palestinians off. Osama's reasons for bombing the twin towers basically amounted to 51 years of U.S. intervention in Arab countries which caused millions of deaths. (youtube(dot)com/watch?v=KiKyWJRRjnU) And Iraq happened because George Bush lied to us about WMDs, not because Saddam was of another religion.
good doc clearly points out mans weakness his brain our brain is a total fuck up it has to much emotion we need to be erased then improved with more animal like brains kill, eat, fuck thats it. "o god save us" what a bunch a cock thats your brain believing a story made by men gullable fuckheads.
religion is not to blame. I'm religious and am not a biggot, misogynist, homophobe, violent or ignorant person by any stretch of the imagination.
What IS to blame is the practice of IRRESPONSIBLE, MISUNDERSTOOD and MISINTERPRETED religion.
There is a difference.
I assume the "homophobia" comment is directed at the loose canons like Fred Phelps. You can't say that because he and his supporters do it their way, that ALL people of a faith do agree with him..THAT would be sheer ignorance, Maher.
Religion is dangerous because it allows people who don't have all the answers to think that they do???
Last I checked, science thinks it has all the answers too. How many times have we seen science written and re-written over the past several thousand years as scientists who thought they knew what was going on, realized they didn't.
Galen's idea that the heart pumped blood out to irrigate tissues and that new blood was continuously made to resupply the heart was taught for 1,500 years!
He's not supporting science. He's supporting the evidence. Science changes based on evidence; thats what makes it unique. If science had all the answers, than there would be nothing left to discover, figure out, or study. Science changes, religion doesn't.
Science never claims to know it all. The reason it is written and re-written is because NEW EVIDENCE comes out that becomes fact. The very fact that it changes is its strength. Religion on the other hand, refuses to change. This cripples cultures and paralyzes minds. Those scientists realize they were wrong, and are glad to be proven wrong...
When will Religion admit that its wrong? Never. it is an insult to human intelligence.
Funny, there is no book of "Revelations" in the bible, there IS a book of Revelation though.
and since when do all people of faith not think about their faith? Having faith does not mean you are making a virtue out of not thinking. You don't think people THINK about their faith, don't be ridiculous. You exhibit faith when you are rooting for a team to win the super bowl, or the ELECTION for that matter, Maher.
It's always fun to see misrepresented deductive generalization used like that.
PRAISE MAHER!!!!! people have been praising fairy tales for years, and it hasnt fixed a fuckin thing. quit hiding behind your bible and do something to fix this shithole.
Yeah. Anyway, I just want to say that I believe Bill Maher has more in the way of faith, than most evangelicals. Faith without doubt isn't faith at all; It's just a sad, ignorant, desperate kind of lunacy. Maher preaches doubt, and, (ironic as this may sound,) God bless him for it.
People need education! Im getting sick off ppl who actually tries to challenge scientist and say they are wrong etc when all they've got as evidence is a single book, written a very long time ago by very ruthless and incompetent men who had no clue what so ever!
Okay, the biggest problem I see is that He is putting every and all religions in one bottle and saything they are one in the same, which I believe not only shows religious ignorance, but so much anger towards religion that his explanation is that none of them are good for anybody.
Well, I just hope people look further than bill maher for their world view.
This rules lol I swear I am semi religious hence I dont like when people start bashing on gays and lesbians and i dont like wars and so on, people should agree to disagree and grow up. No religion is better than the other one, and no unreligion is too; we should just care about ourselves to the point we dont try to convert other people, or kill them.
and for all those who think dying at the stake for their religious beliefs is noble - your wrong. Dying for the unknown is like going to war to preserve unicorns, it make no sense! die for something more practical you martyrs, like rights and freedoms.
Religion is a form of control that has been going on for 1000's of years. It uses fear of the unknown to control its followers. There is no one in th eworld today, or ever, that can prove that there is a God or any other type of overseeing being that we must bow down to. Beleive in humanity and the ability to overcome all problems and we will be better off. Call the church what it is, a place to fear monger and brainwash
"Beleive in humanity and the ability to overcome all problems and we will be better off" - good quote. I think humans should start believing in ourselves and our fellow neighbours rather than believing and worshipping the unknown. how bout we start with real problems first?
What you guys don't understand is that Christianity's main purpose is to first love God and second to love one another. It's about bringing people together for a single purpose. So even if you dont believe in God then you can still respect the efforts of Christianity... ?
Well people committing crimes on behalf of religion are the dangerous ones; Christians are told in the bible to abide by the laws of man and that is why we fight laws that go against our beliefs. To encapsulate Christianity into the other religions that commit terrorist acts is ignorant because when is the last time a true Christian has done things in the name of Christ that is unlawful?
what about the :Medieval Inquisition (1184- 1230s) Spanish Inquisition (1478-1834) the Portuguese Inquisition (1536-1821) the Roman Inquisition (1542- ~1860 ).The Portuguese Inquisition resulted in the burning of 1,175 persons, the burning of another 633 in effigy, and the penancing of 29,590
All the "Inquisitions" were Roman Catholic. Roman Catholicism has progressively distorted Jesus teachings over the years and now teaches an ebtirely different gospel. If you are a truth seeker, check out some of our uploaded Truth seeker videos about Roman catholicism and other subjects.
I would also like to mention that if you didnt fight for your religion in the Eras you spoke of then you would likely be forced to accept another's religion. It's the modern day "peaceful" Christianity that I am speaking of where we have freedom to express our beliefs unlike in those times you mentioned.
while i dont believe in any gods i do think that maher is an idiot. Hes looking at the violent side of religion to justify his beliefs rather than respecting the fact that other people think differently to him. People need religion to cope with all the bad shit that goes on in the world and if that helps them then whats the problem. Terrorists blow places up because they hate them. religion is just theyre excuse.without religion theyd just find another excuse to blow shit up.
He never carries conversations with theist philosophers. There are plenty out there but he won't have it. He only finds the most ridiculous people, makes them look stupid, and then uses them as examples of all theists.
That may be true, however, it strikes me that you cannot philosophise or intellectualise bullshit. A childish story is still a childish story no matter how many highly educated morons believe it. People who assert nonsense without evidence don't deserve to be listened to.
This movie was made for entertainment purposes, not to propose a fair and unbiased debate. It's supposed to be ridiculous, you and me might find a debate about God between two ancient men interesting but the majority of the public won't.
you're saying he's an idiot? why, cos he's saying religous people are idiots? then that's a total paradox, calling somebody an idiot cos they call others idiots
I have many secular friends and I am secular some of them are atheist or agnostic and NONE of them are more fucked up then those who simply believe something out of fear of eternal damnation
Christianity is about faith and faith is about freedom of personal choice to believe. If Christians had all the answers or God sent miraculous signs to earth all the time then there would be no choice at all. God doesn't want people to worship Him because they have to but because they choose to.
Exodus 20:4-5 - "You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God..."
Can you? Then why am I called an idiot for NOT believing in Global Warming. Y am I called an idiot for NOT believing that Man came from Apes. If God showed Himself through Miracles on a daily, personal level then everyone would have to worship Him and only Him and atheist would be forced to see that there is a supreme being. Jealous is not the correct interpretation of the passage. God is jealous of our love and wants us to worship Him so that doesnt mean that he wants us to have no choice.
There are christians who believe that the effects of climate change are real. Climate change isn't like the evolution debate. We can see that the climate has become more erratic. We know that pollution is damaging our world and that it is man-made. We see it happening unlike something like evolution in which no one can say for sure either way.
travi360, unlike Al Gore who was trying to scare people into electing him, scientist have concluded from much observation and looking into past records that the so-called 'global warming' is part of a normal cycle. It happened before and it'll happen again. Fear-mongers like Al Gore should be punished.
I don't want to get into a huge argument about this, but there are people on both sides saying things. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Changes 4th Assessment Report recently found it is very likely that human activity has caused most global warming since the mid-20th century.
And of course there are those who dispute this.
But regardless as to whether its man-made or not; its here to stay and something needs to be done about it.
It's not 'here to stay', it's a CYCLE. Can't you understand and read ENGLISH? How many cycles do you know that are 'here to stay'? If they were 'here to stay', they wouldn't be considered a 'cycle'.
"very likely" is more spin-talk by people LIKE Gore, who knew absolutely NOTHING about climate. There are political AND economic 'forces' at work that decide which way the 'winds are going to blow' so to speak, when 'new studies' show this or that. Climate is cyclical-PERIOD! exclamation mark.
and how is it in your mind that Gore knows absolutely nothing about climate, i mean u pretty much have to close ur ears and ignore everything around you not to know something about whats happening with the climate and environment.
this brutal winter proves Global Warming? If we have a Crazy hot summer then it will also prove Global Warming? You are told what the media and certain government people want you to hear. Everyday it seems there is another symptom of Global Warming. It seems when people cant explain a certain weather pattern, Global Warming is at fault.
I just think the whole world will be better off if we find ways to reduce pollution and oil dependence. Regardless of whether or not it effects climate change, it will make out lives and the world in general a healthier place. I don't claim to know much about climate change, i just know that we need to find ways to reduce pollution.
I agree travi, I believe we should live cleaner and greener but it doesnt need to effect tax payers on a national scale but instead be incorporated into tightening up restrictions on pollution and energy consumption. Bringing it out of every tax payer's wallet, which is really the whole point of the Global Warming theory in America, is absurd because of all the people who are clean and green.
i dunno...i think the climate change theory in american is simply to warn people that we need to find ways to live cleaner and to ensure that restrictions on pollutions and energy consumption are enforced. But otherwise i agree with you.
NO, they wouldn't HAVE to worship him. Again, you could have all the evidence in the world and people world not believe in God because they don't want a God involved in their lives.
are you serious? You would not want a God in your life knowing that He created you and continually gives you life. Thats the most selfish thing i have heard of... If somehow this was proven to you on a daily basis you would still push this man away? That my friend is the most ludicrous thing I have ever heard of.
Exodus 20:4-5 - "You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God..."
i know 3 atheistic families..all of which have screwed up children, as in they are complete dicks or they are messed up with drugs and such. All 3 families seem to have a douche bag mentality and most people dont like being with them. With my experience with atheists,, there is no way that having more of them would help the earth
but yeah, I know what you mean. only my Logic and Critical thinking professor is an aesthetic that I really admire. :( the other make me want to smack them. ... REALLY hard!
I however think the anyone who is a member of the Abrahamic trio is SERIOUSLY out of their mind. look at what Israel did to the Palestinians that is a genocide and if you hear what that lady at the Cristian Disney land Bill Mahor talked to they make themselves sound crazy! "I love the Jews thats why I'm Cristian." (I saw the whole movie)
well there is historical proof. I don't know if Jesus Christ is a god or not but he defiantly existed. he was a community organizer and also was ahead of his time with socialist values. and the romans couldn't stand him! anyone who pisses off the romans has my support! :P
That is from some religion, I can't remember which, but they go for a long march whilst whipping theirselves with chains/blades/whatever. so it's real blood
"I believe in no God, no invisible man in the sky. But there is something more powerful than each of us, a combination of our efforts, a Great Chain of industry that unites us. But it is only when we struggle in our own interest that the chain pulls society in the right direction. The chain is too powerful and too mysterious for any government to guide. Any man who tells you different either has his hand in your pocket, or a pistol to your neck." - ?????
You sir, are hilarious. That was a quote from a man named Andrew Ryan. Who in the 1950's built a city under the Atlantic Ocean to escape the very institutions which limited a man's progress, true freedom.
"It was not impossible to build Rapture at the bottom of the Ocean, It was impossible to build it anywhere else" - Andrew Ryan
This is the storyline of a video game called "Bioshock" dumbass, your argument is to simply say I'm wrong, how primitive. XD
"Atheists are the only civilized and intellectual people"
i LOVE the false sense of superiority most atheists seem to obtain. They think that all religions are illogical and ignorant. Well considering that there is no proof for what you believe in either, how is it more logical then a religion? Just because your afraid to commit to a religion does not make you smarter because i can assure you it only makes you look like more of an arrogant smart ass than most of you seem to be.
Evolution is proof, it has facts to back it up and is scientifically possibly, a burning bush and a virgin giving birth is not impossible, but its less likely and there is less evidence supporting it.
rgs121, you are mixing 'evolution' and Biblical allegory. To what purpose? God created the universe through the means of the big bang. God intended for the universe to evolve the way it has. Biblical parables were necessary all those years ago to teach a more primitive people than us . Now, we have the 2nd coming of Christ: BAHA'U'LLAH. He appeared in 1844 according to the prediction of Daniel, who had already predicted with perfect accuracy the 1st coming of Christ. Take notice!
"thats not enough proof to convince me of invisible powers" well with what Quantum Physics is revealing psychic powers are completely possible. factor in what we know about the brain and that we only use 2% of it and you can't say they don't exist.science can only disprove.
I pretty much see anyone who believes in these major religions as fruitcakes who have no ability to reason. Believing is one thing but worshipping shows that you are downright insane.
Stink, what you wrote made me wonder if I should ignore you and NOT dignify your comment with a response, or-try to enlighten you out of sheer pity. You DO have my sympathy as I can't imagine what kind of sustainable joy you can get by slamming God and His efforts to teach mankind. But to call righteous people who sacrifice a lot to help others BECAUSE of their faith and what they've learned from God as fruitcakes makes YOU the fruitcake! Don't be so foolish-I believe in God; am I dangerous? No!
by the way this whole thing is playing out, it seems that the Fallout series is correct about the end of the world. I think someone should get cracking on blueprints for those vaults.
Your right that some people are effected by religion in a positive way. If your in jail, and all you have to grasp on too is Jesus, then that kind of makes sense to pretend that he exist. Just like if your a kid, and your brought up in a bad situation, your family abuses you, and you need something to grasp onto, then you usually also create a imaginary friend. Imaginary friends though, are imaginary, and people spend their entire lifes believing in their existence. That's a waste.
Megiddo, Israel? lol I don't think the whole world is going to end but, Israel sure is cruisin for a nukin and it's getting pretty damn hard to keep nuclear and biological weapons out of the hands of it's worst enemies.
The way Christians do mission work in third world countries and help people in disasters is really hurting the world...We should probably destroy them
Muslims arent the problem. What some 10 thousand fanatics gets you jumpy? Can you imagine what will happen when Atheism becomes the dominant political force in the west. Your going to see the seas turn red alright, every Jesus freak from here to Kayman is going to go militant. If you think you know fanaticism think again.
Those who say that without religion human are not capable of being moral are ironically morally weak.
If animals and insects can work as effective social groups such as ants, what more for intelligent human beings? We are capable of realizing that we need to work together as a society, and killing only promotes more killing, stealing only promotes more stealing and other kinds of immoralities.
If you say that we cannot work as a society without a religion, ants are better than us then?
There is some truth in your comment but I've been a disaster relief worker for 22 years and the first ones to show up in a crisis, are always the Christians. They show up in droves, expect nothing, and do what's best for those in need. Katrina, the Northridge earthquake, hurricane Andrew, the Indian Ocean earthquake, the Loma Prieta earthquake. I could go on. I'm not saying that the only volunteers at these disasters were Christian, but Christian volunteers were in a highly noticeable majority.
that doesn't contradict the message of this video. actually, it supports it. christians as you say have a particular interest in disasters, because they seem to have read about it in the book of revelations. good deeds, bad deeds, if you look at the whole picture, religion is destructive. this is what this movie is about.
dude you ridiculously twisted his words around. Christians are showing up at disasters to help people. Help them because they are in need. Not because they want to make a disaster.
What Bill is trying to say is that we should live life based on what we DO know, or in some cases what we know is most likely to be true because religion promotes claims that are not yet proven or cannot be proven at all. I am in the neutral position and if I were to ask you (assuming you're a Christian) and a Muslim the legitimacy of the Bible and the Quran, your faith and theirs, and the existence of God and Allah, do you think the answers would be any different?
my favorite part of this is where they quote osama bin laden... that makes sense since he represents all Muslims, since all Muslims are terrorists right?
I actually watched this movie, I thought it was sad that he had to choose people who knew nothing about their own religion, and would "make fun" of them for not having answers. The truth is that we do not know everything, its impossible, but with research through the Quran, the questions he asks can be answered.
Evangelicals, Atheists & Muslims have more in common then most would like to admit. Einstein said that atheists were the most fanatical and intolerant.
there was an interesting fox special about the son of one of the hamas founders saying that islam (sorry for spelling mistakes) was formed by politics and he says that islam is going to die out
This guy seems to blame religion for terrorism but he neglets to mention that the number one suicide bomber group in the globe is the tamil tigers, which is actually a secular marxist guerrilla. How would he account for that?
"Evangelical", by definition, implies forcing one's Christian beliefs on others. Look it up in a dictionary. Your saying "share" is, to say the least, a very frightening euphemism. What did the Europeans do in America when they got there already? Christianity has a very unique definition of "sharing", and "love" and everything else, indeed.
Twisting Einsteins words again, this is a typical Republican or right wing ploy, reapeat things over and over again even if they are false and people will accept it as truth.
Also, there are plenty of examples of how Religion is bad today, just turn on your TV and look to Gaza.
I think Christian intolerance of others is a myth. I don't see any evangelicals trying to force their beliefs on anyone (except the occasional guy on the corner yelling "repent or you're going to hell"). Most will share their beliefs like anyone else. Even Einstein said that atheists were the most fanatical and intolerant.
to answer your weak atempt in using Albert Einstein to discredit athisist.
In a letter to Eric Gutkind in 1954 Einstein said: "The word God is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of honorable, but still primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish."
It was, of course, a lie what you read about my religious convictions, a lie which is being systematically repeated. I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but have expressed it clearly. If something is in me which can be called religious then it is the unbounded admiration for the structure of the world so far as our science can reveal it.
-Albert Einstein, in a letter, 1954, from Einstein: The Human Side
i see your point but its not what it dose for those people, its the byproduct that religion brings and that is intollernce of others beliefs and a general state of fear and suppression of biological emotions that us humans have. of course to think god is there and helping us is a cute story and prob get many people through hard times but its the byproduct of it that destroys us and holds us back as a species. We could be living free of stress and depression living in peace if it were not 4 god.
Mike, cite for me at least 3 real wars started by religion, and cite for me how many common religious people commit sexual abuse. And if religion cannot be proved, where is the proof of evolution and the big bang? And should the big bang be correct, where did the matter to start it come from? These just seem like lame excuses to say that they know that God doesn't exist.
I don't see anything religious here. I do see a lot of mankind's violence and hatred, justified by some belief. Even Maher has hatred toward religion, fueled by "doubt" or the same "ignorance" as the religious. He's no different than the "terrible" people he's depicted in the film.
I agree with VIKESON: this does nothing to objectively inform the public. It seems more like a personal rant.
So you think opposing religion because it is illogical and leads to violence is more ignorant than believing something for which there is absolutely no evidence or empirical support?
At least Bill Maher's strong emotion is based in reality
it comes down to human nature folks. We're a flawed species. I dislike religion as much as the next person but even removing it wouldn't change anything because we would still find a host of stupid reasons to kill each other.
This is garbage. I keep hearing all of these stupid things like "God doesn't exist, because he cannot be observed" and "all wars stem from religion." People fail to see some of the things in religion BESIDES all of the spirituality. Look at Christmas, for instance. The whole part with Jesus is controversial to some people. But look at the underlying morals. Giving. Being a better person. According to people like Maher, God doesn't exist, and causes all the bad things in the world.
No, according to Maher, God doesn't exist, and PEOPLE cause all good and bad things in the world. Religion just happens to be one of the many bad things created by humanity.
Religion is a bad thing? I suppose we should just go straight to pure Darwinism and start killing our neighbors for their money and property. Religion brings a direction for life, morals for us to live up to. Maher and those like him push for non-moral societies. His big assertion that religion causes us to have nothing to live for is a blatant lie. Oh, and good job Maher, you managed to slip in a Bush-Bash.
Of all the wars and killing and sexual abuse conducted at the hands of religious people, do you really believe that morality stems from religion?
As for your absurd Darwinian reference, there is nothing in our nature that necessitates our killing one another. We do that because we're "intelligent" and are able to harbour such feelings as anger and greed. But, again, you can't even try to make the point that the things that make humans evil are cured with religion. If anything, they're worse.
Why do we need religion to give us morals on how to live? I think most people are smart enough not to have to rely on a tyrannical space-god to tell them what to do.
and if you want some proof on evolution, read a book or do some research for once in your life. There's plenty of proof out there for you.
Atheism does not give us a safer future. Mankind will always find something to fight and kill about. Claiming the atheism will end all suffering and grant us safety is naive and arrogant. Besides, all of the worlds biggest wars and mass cases of death (the world wars, vietnam, korea, etc...) were conflicts of non-religious human ideals.
Atheists are fine, anti-theists are the ones I have a beef with. Maher was right about one point, we just don't know. So stop acting like you do.
Which is pointless to say in the first place. Everything in this world causes suffering in one point or the other. Ending one thing (religion) won't affect how much suffering there is. Because something else will feed that void.
And let's also not forget the great good that religion does do. I cannot argue that religion doesn't cause some suffering in thsi world, but to completely ignore the great good it has done is just wrong.
In the book the European Dream, Europians had their lives tied to religion for a couple of millennium - until now the majority realize they have outgrown it.
Clerics are marginalized and church leaders are regarded as "nuts" when they head off on a non-rational rant.
Why? Religion always had two parts - 1) the good (teachings of respect for family & community, etc); and 2) the bad ( ignorant servitude of the dogma used by the powerful used to control the masses - pergatory ringin a bell here?)
I am sick of the constant remark made by Theists and Atheists alike that the other's belief system is the result of a neurological disorder, brain disease or the like.
Sure, Theism is stupid, believing something that cannot be observed (and even trying to use the fact that it cannot b

Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able?
Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able but not willing?
Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing?
Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him God.

religion is not to blame.

Galen's idea that the heart pumped blood out to irrigate tissues and that new blood was continuously made to resupply the heart was taught for 1,500 years!

raptor797 3 years ago

Religious moderates are just as dangerous to humanity's wellbeing than religious extremists. Just in different ways.

What you guys don't understand is that Christianity's main purpose is to first love God and second to love one another. It's about bringing people together for a single purpose. So even if you dont believe in God then you can still respect the efforts of Christianity... ?

yeh religion teaches love, but why do people die on a daily basis because of religion?
yourmumisadick 3 years ago
Well people committing crimes on behalf of religion are the dangerous ones; Christians are told in the bible to abide by the laws of man and that is why we fight laws that go against our beliefs. To encapsulate Christianity into the other religions that commit terrorist acts is ignorant because when is the last time a true Christian has done things in the name of Christ that is unlawful?

Christianity is about faith and faith is about freedom of personal choice to believe. If Christians had all the answers or God sent miraculous signs to earth all the time then there would be no choice at all. God doesn't want people to worship Him because they have to but because they choose to.

There are christians who believe that the effects of climate change are real. Climate change isn't like the evolution debate. We can see that the climate has become more erratic. We know that pollution is damaging our world and that it is man-made. We see it happening unlike something like evolution in which no one can say for sure either way.
travi360 3 years ago
travi360, unlike Al Gore who was trying to scare people into electing him, scientist have concluded from much observation and looking into past records that the so-called 'global warming' is part of a normal cycle. It happened before and it'll happen again. Fear-mongers like Al Gore should be punished.
aborygydknee 3 years ago
I don't want to get into a huge argument about this, but there are people on both sides saying things. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Changes 4th Assessment Report recently found it is very likely that human activity has caused most global warming since the mid-20th century.
And of course there are those who dispute this.
But regardless as to whether its man-made or not; its here to stay and something needs to be done about it.
travi360 3 years ago
It's not 'here to stay', it's a CYCLE. Can't you understand and read ENGLISH? How many cycles do you know that are 'here to stay'? If they were 'here to stay', they wouldn't be considered a 'cycle'.
"very likely" is more spin-talk by people LIKE Gore, who knew absolutely NOTHING about climate. There are political AND economic 'forces' at work that decide which way the 'winds are going to blow' so to speak, when 'new studies' show this or that. Climate is cyclical-PERIOD! exclamation mark.
aborygydknee 3 years ago
and how is it in your mind that Gore knows absolutely nothing about climate, i mean u pretty much have to close ur ears and ignore everything around you not to know something about whats happening with the climate and environment.
travi360 3 years ago
this brutal winter proves Global Warming? If we have a Crazy hot summer then it will also prove Global Warming? You are told what the media and certain government people want you to hear. Everyday it seems there is another symptom of Global Warming. It seems when people cant explain a certain weather pattern, Global Warming is at fault.
Drewbie915 3 years ago
I just think the whole world will be better off if we find ways to reduce pollution and oil dependence. Regardless of whether or not it effects climate change, it will make out lives and the world in general a healthier place. I don't claim to know much about climate change, i just know that we need to find ways to reduce pollution.
travi360 3 years ago
I agree travi, I believe we should live cleaner and greener but it doesnt need to effect tax payers on a national scale but instead be incorporated into tightening up restrictions on pollution and energy consumption. Bringing it out of every tax payer's wallet, which is really the whole point of the Global Warming theory in America, is absurd because of all the people who are clean and green.
Drewbie915 3 years ago
i dunno...i think the climate change theory in american is simply to warn people that we need to find ways to live cleaner and to ensure that restrictions on pollutions and energy consumption are enforced. But otherwise i agree with you.

rgs121, you are mixing 'evolution' and Biblical allegory.

I'm not saying that the only volunteers at these disasters were Christian, but Christian volunteers were in a highly noticeable majority.
nickybadboy50 3 years ago
that doesn't contradict the message of this video. actually, it supports it. christians as you say have a particular interest in disasters, because they seem to have read about it in the book of revelations. good deeds, bad deeds, if you look at the whole picture, religion is destructive. this is what this movie is about.

SSfreethinker 3 years ago
my favorite part of this is where they quote osama bin laden... that makes sense since he represents all Muslims, since all Muslims are terrorists right?
I actually watched this movie, I thought it was sad that he had to choose people who knew nothing about their own religion, and would "make fun" of them for not having answers. The truth is that we do not know everything, its impossible, but with research through the Quran, the questions he asks can be answered.

It is a popular belief that Einstein himself was an Atheist.

In a letter to Eric Gutkind in 1954 Einstein said: "The word God is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of honorable, but still primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish."
losaltos6 3 years ago

And all the recent Jihad wars!!!

LiberalsMustFail 3 years ago

Bill Maher wasn't saying atheism will end all suffering, but simply that religion plays a part in creating some of the suffering in the world.
Spartan9688 3 years ago 2
Which is pointless to say in the first place. Everything in this world causes suffering in one point or the other. Ending one thing (religion) won't affect how much suffering there is. Because something else will feed that void.
And let's also not forget the great good that religion does do. I cannot argue that religion doesn't cause some suffering in thsi world, but to completely ignore the great good it has done is just wrong.

I agree with the uploaders note - I think atheist need to come together. The age of reason needs to come about soon rather than later.

OnMyOwn1988 3 years ago
Sadly there are too many examples of the second to list - and fortunately, we have names for the first in "Spiritualism" and "Socialism".
So when the commentator says that "Religion is dead" - I think he is referring to the non-Spiritual, "bad" elements of time-old religion.

I am sick of the constant remark made by Theists and Atheists alike that the other's belief system is the result of a neurological disorder, brain disease or the like.
Sure, Theism is stupid, believing something that cannot be observed (and even trying to use the fact that it cannot b
