  • Guys, really? There are obviously things between DC and Sykes that we will never ever know, and probably don't need to know. They are no longer making music together, so it matters not. I think both guys are total musical phenoms. Yes, DC has lost some of his range, but c'mon, the guy IS 60 years old! He is easily one of the greatest vocalists and songwriters of all time, and his time with Sykes was quite fruitful, both guys deserve credit. GTBB, and Forevermore are the best WS albums since LH.

  • I'm actually good friends with John Sykes. On many occasion he's said that Coverdale is a talentless cunt that surrounds himself with decent musicians in order to make good songs. Yet, he never mentions that in interviews. He's like Ozzy Osbourne minus the brain damage.

  • @therealuptheass well.. doubt first of all that you are good friends with sykes. Sykes has said in an interview that his favorite vocalists are glenn hughes and david coverdale (happened to be my favorites as well ;D). about DC not writing music, that is BS! Slide it in, dont break my heart again, guilty of love, crying in the rain, all these songs MUSIC AND LYRICS written by DC. there are many other songs as well, on the slide it in album for an example.

  • Adrian Vandenberg gets a mention and Sykes gets no air time? OMG, David has totally gone nuts.

  • John Sykes is the only one who can ever bring Whitesnake back. He was the man behind the curtain that made it all work.

  • the new WS generation is no match to what the band used to be. they lack the chemistry... i was quite disappointed with the new line up on stage.

  • He picks his nose at 8:20

  • Whitesnake was huge (at least outside the U.S) in the early 80s, before Sykes was in the band. Ready & Willing and Come & Get it were great albums

  • @diosnake indeed they were very big.

Slide it in was a success, an sykes had very little to do with that!

  • is he like regretting leaving deep purple at the end??! at another interview he said leaving them was an easy choice...and wasn't nostalgic or anything :/

  • @1217angela - David didn't "leave" Deep Purple. He, Jon Lord and Paicey decided to "call it a day" because of massive drug problems of Tommy Bolin and Glenn Hughes. Well, we all know what happened to Tommy Bolin... And Glenn will talk about the drug abuse openly in his book, which release has unfortunately been postponed until 2011

  • @Cookie12326 that's maybe what made him resign... he has repeatedly said that it took him a week to write his resignation letter (: he said he was exhausted and it wasn't fun anymore...I believe that's the truth

  • @Cookie12326 well obviously he did decide to leave Purple. Who knows if he decided before lord and paicey ? He spent 9 days writing his resignitzion letter.. He probably had decided months before, he didnt even want to take purple to the UK. He might have decided before them, anyways he brought it up to them, ofc the three felt the same.

  • @1217angela don' t think he is regretting it. Just realizing how big purple wer in their hey-day in the seventies. And how great they were, blackmore and the other chaps.

  • damn... eddie trunk is mad old. isnt he like 55 now?

not hating, just wondering. just seems he is old as heck. he sure looks it.

  • just say "SORRY, john sykes. i was just jealous of you. without ur music, none of these would've been possible. you saved whitesnake and my ass as well".

just say that one time before u die. just one time...

  • @sykes0925 hehe.. no dont say that.. it was correct to fire you, you ignorant ****.. instead.. Whilst Coverdale was ill (his voice was not good) John Sykes took advantage of that and tried to ruel the show and take over everything.. But whitesnake is coverdale.

btw he was singer in what was at that time 1974 the worlds biggest band... so .. think he would have made it otherwise.

btw. coverdale wrote crying in the rain, the still of the night riff + marsden/coverdale wrote here i go again.

  • @leppardsnake oh really~ and that's why he fired dunbar and murray as well? haha.

yes, he was a singer for DP although glen hughes was singing on hard part of songs in live, lol. what can you see in whitesnake before 1987 album? this band was just nothing.. again nothing!!! people got into this band because of success with 1987 album.

yes, coverdale wrote crying in the rain, who played and made it become such a bad ass song? u know the answer..

  • @sykes0925 he fired them because he had a chance of calling in his "dream team" dunbar was kind of like a session player for whitesnake anyways.. Glenn hughes was not singing the hard parts.. he was singing the high parts and coverdale low and mid range.. it can be much harder singing with coverdales enormous feeling in low range than singing in high range.. and coverdale can still sing in high range btw.. no, it was not nothing before the 1987 album. It was a great blues band.

  • @sykes0925 it was famous in europe and other parts of the world (south america, japan and so on) but not in the US. Come And Get it hit #2 in the UK. No, many people left as fans due to the 1987 album! Many UK fans didnt like it. Sure many US fans did come in. But coverdale had everybody but US in his hands before.. I like pre-1987 whitesnake the best but I like all of whitesnake lineups.

yes, bernie marsden and micky moody! :D I prefer the 1982 version of crying in the rain

  • @sykes0925 and again hugh hits on 87 album

Crying in the rain - music written by coverdale

Here I go again - music written by marsden/coverdale, solo played by adrian

Still of the night - riff written by coverdale

Is this love - music written by coverdale/sykes..

sykes co-wrote one of these songs (the music for)..

  • @sykes0925 they would have done fine without sykes, and they did..sykes is bitter and you are bitter. it's sad.. move on.. I mentioned music coverdale wrote that sykes didn't.. The rest of the music was co-written by the two.. so.. there you go..

that being sad, john sykes was great in whitesnake and is a great guitarist. but he shouldnt take all the credit..

  • @leppardsnake be careful on the words 'co written'. people don't give a damn about DC's lyrics. don't say u do, then ur lying. it's all about JS's beautiful and blazing guitar sound. what can Coverdale do now without songs like "is this love", "still of the night", "bad boy" and so on.... i'm a fan of DC's bluesy soul music myself, but he wouldn't be where he is now without JS's effort.

  • @sykes0925 the MUSIC was co-written.. coverdale probably wrote all lyrics yes, but he is a great guitar player as well (not as great as sykes ofc) but the music was co-written with sykes except for the music coverdale wrote himself (the still of the night riff, crying in the rain) + co-writing here I go again with marsden.. that is the truth.. look it up.. he does not always play bad boys.. no, he wouldnt be where he is now without JS or anyone.. they are all a part of his history.

  • @sykes0925 and again.. coverdale fronted what was then the worlds biggest band.. Deep Purple..

he was not by any means unknown before 87.. far from it

  • @sykes0925 and the lyrics coverdale has written are great.. Just liten to crying in the rain, and here i go again. You are a fan of dc's blues and still dont like the pre-1987 albums ?

  • @leppardsnake u just don't get me. DC's pre-1987 stuff is good, but what makes it great is a hugh success of 1987 album.

yes, Crying in the rain by coverdale

Here I go again by marsden/coverdale, solo played by adrian

now, the rest of music was written by sykes and coverdale together? no. it's just all sykes. only lyrics written by coverdale.

  • @sykes0925 just have a comment to your last sentence.. NO the music was not all by sykes.. Coverdale is not only great at writing lyrics, music as well.. He wrote a lot of the music on the coverdale/page album for an example.. Jimmy Page has said so himself, he even let coverdale play guitar on the album! Also he was very instrumental, hehe, in writing music for whitesnake.. he has co-written like every song (and not just lyrics).

  • @sykes0925 songs he wrote by himself in whitesnake for an example:

    Slide it in

    Guilty of love

    Dont break my heart again

    Crying in the rain

    Long Way From Home

    + like 25 more!

  • @sykes0925 and AGAIN .. the still of the night riff was david coverdales riff... and it is a very important one.. SYKES DIDNT WRITE THAT:..

  • @leppardsnake well, u have ur sotry and i have mine too.. but u can't really say DC is a good song writer... just like u said, WS is and has been DC's main band. however, he's never been a main composer or writer for their music. he always needed a song writer like sykes, vandenberg and now aldrich. i don't blame him for that because he's a great vocalist (not in live), but he's nothing more.

  • @sykes0925 yes we have different opinions..DC is an excellent song writer to me..He was always the "co-main composer and writer of music" with whomever the guitarist was/were, and sometimes he wrote songs himself.

I dont agree that he need another person.. especially when you think of the hits he has written himself.. Compare that to sykes self-made hits ! are there any?

    he is great live

  • @leppardsnake r u kidding? u ever heard blue murder album????? it's in the same route as 1987 album, unforgettable, possibly THE best orthodox hard rock album ever. again 1987 is all about sykes. tell me DC can make another album like that. it's not his style, john kalodner (a&r guy for geffen record) wanted to change WS at the time because they could never be successful in a hugh league like in america. DC agreed and released 87 album but was just jealous of john's talent.

  • @leppardsnake he doesn't need anybody? wow.....that just makes sykes, vandenberg and aldrich look like nothing but a stupid. WOW.... and he's a great live? he's got a great voice.. but never been a great live vocalist. always needs a backup vocals. now reb beach's having a tough time to back DC up.

  • @leppardsnake well, i'll just stop here, u don't even know who john sykes is. it was nice talking with u.

  • @leppardsnake here's the thing. when DC was ill and taking a rest, JOHN SYKES was the one who played and made 1987 album. he knew he was getting fired but he still finished making record because he didn't want his songs getting touched and ruined by somebody or some guitar player (the only part he didn't do was a little solo in here i go again). after that, DC recovered and just recorded over JS's music.

  • @sykes0925 he tried to take over the show.. mixing the album producing and everything.. but it wasnt his thing to do.. I dont think he knew he was getting fired. I am quite sure he didnt. An important solo in here i go again.

"just recorded over JS's music".. well.. he had to sing on the record didn't he ?

  • @leppardsnake mixing producing and everything while DC was ill and taking the time to recover. during that time, dunbar and murray got fired already and sykes knew that he would be next. it's not what i think. sykes clearly knew that it was him next. so he just hurried up finishing up making the record.

  • @sykes0925 yes he shouldnt have tried to mix and produce since it wasnt his job to do!! What made him think he was great at that, especially since it was a whitesnake LP and david had to make sure that "the whitesnake image" wasnt compromised.. david is whitesnake, whitesnake is david.

well, according to sykes perhaps.. but coverdale tell another story.. and why didnt he just then do his guitar parts.. why mix and produce, withouth even the vocals there?

  • @leppardsnake sykes tried to take over? hmm.. so DC just used sykes' talent and kicked him out? is that what ur trying to say, because look at the result. while DC was gone, sykes made that unforgettable hard rock album. yes it was him by himself, DC wasn't there with him. "just recorded over JS's music".. yes i meant DC recorded his voice on john's masterpiece.

  • @sykes0925 well.. I am not saying DC used sykes, I am saying whitesnake was coverdales band so Sykes shouldnt have tried to run DC over and trying to decide everything. Sykes played the guitar yes, but he didnt "make unforgettable hard rock" he performed it yes.. but wrote it.. no they wrote it together..

  • @leppardsnake it's just too easy to say that crying in the rain was written by DC. however, what makes this song so special is JS's arrangement and guitar. no one on the planet can make this song that good. nobody.. u said DC's dream team? who? Vai? Vandenberg? Campbell? i'm sure u've heard their live version of crying in the rain... just awful although they're all great guitar players. well, if u prefer 82 version... i got nothing to say.

  • @sykes0925 it was written by him.. dreamteam was the 87 live group.

I dont think it is awful, far from it..

  • @sykes0925 oh I do.. you dont know dc... anyways, yet let's stop it here

  • @sykes0925 oh you again..

sykes co-wrote the music for less than 10 songs on the album.

still of the night riff was already there, here i go again and crying in the rain.

    he co-wrote the rest.

he often speak about sykes in interviews.

  • @sykes0925 you are on every coverdale/whitesnake video, my God, you like him more than I do ;)

  • @leppardsnake what the fuck are you talking about?????? this is the video clip that you and i first met on.. you just can't accept any negative comments on ur coverdale. is he ur girl friend or something? what is wrong with you? reacting on my txt which was written 8months from now. FUCK OFF my ASS! damn

  • @sykes0925 oh, sorry I see now we wrote her months ago..

haha, the video clip we first met on, sounds rather romantic (!) (sarcastically meant if you did not get that)

weird that you remember that this was the first video we met on :D

well, it was on the top, that's why I reacted..

it is just I see you on all my favorite videos bashing someone, instead of on the sykes videos saying you love him..

you go back liking syks, he is great, and I like coverdale, he's great.

    the end!

  • @sykes0925 soooo true man

  • And he STILL doesn't talk about John Sykes.

  • @klextacy he often speak about sykes in interviews. Cant mention him all the time.

Besides ofc, more important that he mentions the greatest guitarist, the man in black, mr. Blackmore!

  • Go, go David!!!!!!!!!!

  • "Very sexy girls..." that's the whole DC;) hahaha

  • not to mention that dweeb eddie trunk didnt even bring up the album with steve vai. eddie trunk is so lost its beyond almost mentioning.

    *shakes head*

  • heard the latest cd and it just doesnt hold up people. i mean lets be honest. nothing on this cd is even close to crying in the rain.

and eddie trunk is old so obviosuly he is gonna relate to another old man. lol

  • well they didn't made a longer numer in the style of crying in the rain or still of the night on good to be bad... maybe a pitty....

  • great David!

  • Looks like they will tour with Priest this summer. I seen Priest on the first leg and they just killed. That had been the fifth time I had seen them and they are better than ever. Seeing them with White Snake would be really cool.

  • saw em both last night - and they BOTH kicked fucking ass - Dave can still sing his ass off...

and Priest played for HOURS - fucking beautiful

  • Saw them last night with Priest in Cleveland. Awesome show.

  • no tommy aldridge???????? for shame david!

  • Good To Be Bad is a very good album

  • "whitesnakes got its groove back boys and girls check it out" amazing whitesnake are amazing and so is the new album!

  • I'm the first person to watch this? Wow.
