  • fuck Gumpert is a monster!!! If gumpert is an European car, deal with it. European cars > American cars. it's the way it is. :))

  • Does not look like hes pushing hard enough like they do in other nurburgring videos.

  • giant balls of steel...and finesse...thats what it takes to drive a car like this that damn fast on this track...gotta lot of respect for the driver

  • i still take the ACR.

  • @manny9800 I would too. To think that just an upgraded SRT-10 is within a second of this beast.

  • bye bye glass fibber and horrible rear wing Viper..

  • @vitto do you really think the Gumpert looks better than a Viper? You're retarded

  • abslutely..i'm sure you never have seen it in real life before.

I saw it and hear it..it destroys that clown shoe vette.

  • blah blah blah....shut the eff up and watch the video stop bitching what this is and that is. and enjoy the driving. inst this why we are here to watch.

  • King of the Ring..

  • no the world record is 6.47 in pagani zonda r

  • @itachi1993z The record is actually the Porsche 956.

The Gumpert Apollo is the fastest thing with number plates and a fixed roof.

  • @HFLanciaStratos

Which is sad considering the Veyron costs as much as 25 brand new Skyline R35's, and the public version of the Veyron has a speed cap which makes it slower than the Aero I anyways. Sow what's the point of the car to begin with? Here's the car that holds the worlds top speed record for $2.4 million, except yours won't ever reach that high because we've capped the top speed for the public version so it's crap anyways. I'd rather have the 25 R35's u kno.

  • @philonetic I'd rather a Zonda F Clubsport myself, yes.

  • @philonetic Lol, even with limiter the Veyron SS is still quicker than the Aero.

  • @RsGhost1

    Uh, no, it's not.

Aero production top speed 257mph, Veyron SS Production top speed 253. Try using FACTS, they help.

  • @philonetic topcars(dot)ws/bugatti/veyron-super-sport/

As you can see, the Veyron SS has an electronically limited top speed of 258, faster than the Aero. 253 is the regular Veyron's top speed.

  • @RsGhost1

That's brand new for 2011 you're right, but the Aero I is not limited at 253, it's 257, so of course Bugatti had to get 1 over on them in the new year lol. Aero I is also less than 1/4 the price of the Veyron, both of which are not good track cars. Let's wait and see the Aero II, because with a W-16 Quad Turbo, 10 times radiated motor, I don't see the Veyron making many more advancements, whereas the Aero's twin turbo V8 has plenty of room to grow. I say Skyline R35 ftw.

  • @RsGhost1

Should also note that SSC Ultimate Aero TT is a full 3 seconds faster from 0-300kph, only going to even further show that the Veyron SS is nothing more than a rich boys toy with best top end, which I should also note that the SS had a 12 mile oval track whereas SSC used a 2 mile stretch of backroad. And McLaren F1 still annihilates both on everything except a top speed stretch.

  • @philonetic I Actually the Veyron SS and the Aero are both quicker on the 1/4 mile than the F1.

  • @RsGhost1

Yeah but just barely, Top Gear showed how the F1 has much better accel, but is BARELY beaten by the Veyron in a 1/4, but the McLaren F1 is also without a doubt a much better track car with better 0-100, 100-0, skidpad g etc. Bugatti and SSC are both delving into unnecessary over development of specific aspects while overlooking others and therefor reducing the overall performance of their vehicle. Whoever has the record at the end of this year will still lose to $120k cars on track.

  • @philonetic Undoubtetly, but I think that SSC nor Bugatti care about track performance ;) Those cars were built for a single purpose, namely top speed.

  • @RsGhost1

But it's such a damn shame! lol

  • @philonetic It is, I reckon the engines are too powerful for us earthlings to use on a track though :P

  • @RsGhost1

People who glorify the Veyron know jack and sht about cars.

  • @philonetic I'm not glorifying anything, I'm just saying that even with the limiter, the Veyron is the fastest car in the world.

  • @philonetic They Veyron IS an incredible feat of engineering though. It's not just some jazzed up Toyota with a 2JZ engine that's been boosted to the point that valves are popping out the side, it's a completely usable, daily drivable PRODUCTION car with one thousand horsepower.

Yes, the Aero SSC or w/e can screw out more power, but it can't put it down as well nor is it anywhere near as refined and stable as the Veyron.

To say the Veyron isn't an incredible machine is silly.

  • HFLanciaStratos, you don't know much about the SSC.

  • @HFLanciaStratos

But yeah the porsche doesn't hold the record either....never has....

And the fastest Porsche isn't the 956...

    7:18 Porsche 911 GT2 RS Timo Kluck April 2010

  • @philonetic The 956 clocked an official time of 6:11 in 1983 whilst qualifying. It has not been beaten since.

  • @HFLanciaStratos

Different class, that's race car qualifying, same car same day also got a 6:25(i think) in race. I'm talking about Road-Legal times, sorry if you didn't realize. I'm also amazed at the 956, it's faster than an F1 car on that track, but again, race cars are not the subject of debate here. Production class only plz.

  • @philonetic Reason I raised the 956 was because I was replying to someone who said the Zonda R held the world record. The Zonda R, like the 956, is not road legal.

The only difference is that the Zonda is a non-competition car.

  • @HFLanciaStratos

Still the Zonda R is a road legal vehicle outside of the USA and ran a 6:48(production spec), and a 6:34:390 modified (non production spec). The fastest street legal Porsche is 7:18 in the Porsche 911 GT2 RS. A race car is a race car, tube frame, totally stripped, single seater with plexi glass etc. The Zonda R may be very close to a race car in spec, but is still a non series production car whereas that Porsche is one of a kind. Still though, that Porsche...WOW.

  • @philonetic The Zonda R isn't road legal in any country, other than with the possible exception of some areas of Italy. It has problems passing noise restrictions on some race tracks, let alone public roads. Not to mention it sits far too low to the ground.

  • @HFLanciaStratos

I get that, that's why it's not in the same record class as the Radical, but the Zonda R is still a non series production car, not a one of a kind race car. They shouldn't even be compared.

  • The Zonda R is not street legal anywhere. It's even banned from track days.

  • @KARASAWA40 lol its not street legal? idk that not even on the track?

  • @KARASAWA40 Why?

  • It's too loud. Most track days have a set number of decibels that the car can make, or else it won't be allowed to drive.

  • @KARASAWA40 Thats incredible! i love that car too, i guess its no use in buying it if you cant drive it.

  • @KARASAWA40 haha, that;'s like saying an atomic bomb is too powerful. You can't hide horsepower and this care makes it. LOUD is a byproduct. who cares.

  • @KARASAWA40 Are you fucking serious? This is a STREET LEGAL CAR.

A car has to be GT1 race car loud before tracks start forbidding it.

  • If you followed the comments, you would see that I was referring to the Zonda R which is not legal.

  • @HFLanciaStratos

Should also mention that the 7:18 Porsche is a one of a kind (at the moment) concept car and was running on super slicks, no video proof, manufacturer claim.

  • @philonetic take your eing arguments somewhere else. Damn you guys are the reason comments on youtube have gone to shit now I have to read your bs instead of getting useful info about the video or funny parts or little helpful bits not your blabbering!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! eff off and go join debate if you want to argue, fag

  • @fabjonjon

Someone can't handle the truth lol.

  • @itachi1993z

    Uh, no.

  • @itachi1993z

Sorry, no. The lap time record is for PRODUCTION cars on STANDARD tires with STANDARD package, road legal cars. If you want to bring the new Zonda-R into it then bring in the 599XX and hell, lets bring in some F1 cars as well.

  • Very good driving

  • perfect

  • This is legit, but is NOT the world record. This run holds #3.

#3 7:11.5 Gumpert Apollo Speed Florian Gruber 13 August 2009

    #1 6:48 Radical SR8 LM Michael Vergers 19 August 2009

  • Woa! Check out the downforce @ 7:28!

  • This is NOT the Nordschliefe lap record, and nor was it ever. Radical held the record from 2005 with the SR8, then smashed a further 8 seconds off the time in 2009 with the SR8LM.

Not sure what holds the record now, I have a feeling its the newest not-road-or-track-legal Pagani Zonda. The one that's too loud for almost every track's noise regulations...

  • @DJUsive1 gumpert apollo holds the record for the sport auto trophy at nurburgring. SR8 was deemed not eligible for the sport auto trophy... not sure if you can read german, LOL but you can find more info on it at sport auto's website.

  • @smilnrt

Hahaha, I understand only the tiniest bits of German. If it has directions to a train-station/airport or cinema then I'll understand, stupid GCSE German, no use in real life whatsoever!

  • @smilnrt

That's because the SR8 is American smart guy. Don't hate =)

  • @22elcantil ouch

  • 7:18.17 in forza 3...

  • Handling on this lap is incredible. Setup - spring rates, shock comp and rebound perfect. anti-roll ride height and gearing perfect. I'd like to see what this driver could do in a Peugeot 908 - he is smooth as glass right up until the last two bends - really trying hard there. Great lap in a very fast and very well prepared car.

  • Heaven is on earth it's behind the wheel of that car!!!

  • This car should have the driver's seat in the middle like the McLaren F1.

  • @DeAdiSSu3 It should have no affiliation with the McLaren F1. thats a car in its own rank.

  • @ewrtertiuer I'm simply saying it would help if the seat were in the middle of the car instead of having the driver on one side or the other, for weight distribution....you know?

  • @DeAdiSSu3 Well in that case it makes perfect sense its why F1 racers also do that itd be stupid for a race car to have the seat on the side. im a bit biased because i dont really like the gumpert, but im sure the lap would be a bit better if he drove quicker and the seat was in the middle, more balance.

  • @ewrtertiuer this is a street legal car so of course its going to have 2 seats

  • simply not a good score

  • i wish one day ill be on that track

  • i guess my fav car list will keep changing

  • He could drive more aggressively. he does not trust the car

  • @Rashl1984 its not easy to trust sch a crazy car on that track

  • @Gelboyto I thought there are two lengths, and that this is the shorter, most often used one.

  • @kenfo0 You are correct, the Gumpert ran this time on the 20,600meter course. There is also a 20,832meter course. The longer course is a little over 640 feet longer, so not that much of a difference. The Apollo would've still been faster than the other cars.

  • hehe almost looks like this car's speed is limit by the actual 'balls' of the driver. its very fast through corners

  • @Gelboyto Because they are, sport auto doesn't take the time for the 232m pit lane straight, you can clearly see in this video that the timer starts exiting that straight and ends where said straight starts.

  • @Gelboyto Because wikipedia can be edited by anyone, including butthurt fanboys.

  • It's a shame how the Gumpert Apollo is so incredibly fast, but it's also so incredibly rare.

  • My absolute favorite sector of any circuit in the world:

4:58 - 5:09 3rd gear while cresting the top of The Ring

5:09 - 5:22 4th gear for :13 during the first brief dash downhill

5:22 - 5:54 3rd gear for the last :30 completing one minute of sheer bliss

I might consider donating both my testicles to science in return for enough time on the Nordschleife to ultimately beat this time. Super-technical. But uber-elegant when driven smoothly. Nice ride, too.

    The Germans strike again!

  • does this car use slicks?

  • you can see its a german car, feels right at home, seems so undramatic, maybe the driver could go even quicker...

  • ferrari 599xx did it under 7 minutes

  • @18PANA yeah but it isn't street legal, so there is no comparison there. Just like the Radical which is probably only legal in the UK, every where else it won't go on the streets.

  • @dude2106 lol i know..even you buy the astonishly expensive non street legal car..you cannot keep it with you the people there keep it and you need their permission in order to drive it and you have to give it back on that day..i prefer the gumpert anyway :)

  • I destroyed this time on need for speed shift :P But... Im guessing it's a tiny bit different when your sat behind the wheel of a $600,000 car

  • We were there! We were standing at the first corner... Do you want to see the movie we's made? check my YT-channel ;)

  • the gumpert apollo is the only legal race car all over the world you can drive this monster in every coutnry

  • woaw , that´s so unbelievable fast

the speed he goes around corners is incredible

    this Apollo rocks

the driver has to know the ring better than everything else

  • This is one of the most stable cars at high speed I have seen lapping the Nurburgring, just after the Ferrari 599XX (which is not street legal, but derived from a road car).

  • Time starts to run AFTER the bridge, but stops at the end BEFORE reaching the bridge again. I think, that'd add about 4-5 secs, but 7:16 or 7:17 would still be the new record. Very impressive !

  • @MegaLiopleurodon I have noticed a few that dont have the same start/finishing point... But then some do?

  • @mk2v8supra - I only watched 2 or 3 videos, Gumpert Apollo, Chevrolet Corvette and Chrysler Viper, they are all cheating. These times shouldn't be recognized as official records. But as I wrote, even with 5secs added to that time, the result would still be very impressive

  • @MegaLiopleurodon Thats how they time laps at the ring

  • @benjamin343 - Alright then, if that's the way they do it. But a Ferrari 599 crushed that time only three weeks ago: 6:58 ! First ever production-car to break the 7min

  • @MegaLiopleurodon I don't think the 599XX is production, but it IS based on a production car. Regardless, the thing is incredible. I'm interested to see what the production 599 GTO can do.

  • @benjamin343 - You're right, it was the 599XX. Maybe, Chevrolet is trying to regain the record with a Corvette ZR1XX now :-)

  • @MegaLiopleurodon LOL the 599XX IS A TACK ONLY NON STREET LEGAL CAR and even then it does not have the record. I has A record for an UNTESTED catagory that means nothing. The MC12 Corsa, Zonda R and Enzo FXX would destroy it

  • @MegaLiopleurodon ARE YOU CRAZY??? The 599XX IS A TRACK ONLY CAR!!!!!!!! ITs not street legal ANYWHERE and even at that it still does not have the N Ring record, only in its class of untested track day cars. The 599 is so far from production road car its funny. Seriously the Maserati MC12 Corsa, Zonda R and NUMEORUS other track day cars rape the 599XX in every way. That being said the New 599 GT GTO is awesome but Iwish it was more like the XX

  • @MegaLiopleurodon Every ring hotlap i have seen are timed just like this. So 7:11 is the right time.

  • It's kind of ugly but the car makes up for it in its speed and handling.

  • @leylandcarsloverslea "Race cars are neither beautiful nor ugly. They become beautiful when they win." - Enzo Ferrari

  • record lol

    muy bueno xd

  • is the gumpert apollo a legal car on the streets

  • to all the people who think this guy is 'cruising round' He's goin for it! I drove 'the ring' last year and it might not look it but this guy is goin seriously fast!!!

  • What means "TC1" ? Traction Control ?

  • the reason it seams like hes not running it all out is because this cars like the koneisegg low end torque u dont want to rev it all the way out because torque probobly ends at like 4500 or something which really ads to traction in corners there for making him look like hes not trying too hard u can tell by the tire squeal tho he was ready to break traction

  • gumpert is not better than bugatti just different...the cars each have their strong points...the gumperts is on a race track...the bugatti's is on the road...or long straight for that matter....the gumpert is engineered to have downforce like a formula one car

  • @norcalnorway the bugatti would def be easier to drive, the gumpert is a race car, its not really tuned down that much like most of cars for the road

  • Agreed, I really hate how much flak the Veyron gets, because it really is an engineering marvel. But I do like the Gumpert more.

  • The car doesn't look like it was pushed until the final corners after the last long straight.

  • Are you being serious?? He's fucking goin for it!! I doubt he would've been able to go any faster because alot of the bumps around the Nordschleife are brutal and the whole car would've taken off!!

  • What I'm saying is that he's so damned smooth with the car it looks effortless up until the final few unsettled corners.

  • that is some serious downforce

  • This car is excellent. It is seems very stable, flowing smoothly and negotiating the corners at higher speeds. I don't even hear stress on the engine. It moves around flawlessly that it looks unreal!

  • it's so seemless it leads me to believe he isnt driving this car all out on the track!

  • @clipintheak1

I agree with you. It looks as if he is just cruising around. I don't notice any crazy Gs as a result of pedal to the metal. But if the contrary is true, then I have to say it is very well engineered!

  • this in not even the most powerful gumpert :D

  • walter röhrl+gumpert apollo=record run!this man is a legend!

  • The driver in this video is Florian Gruber.

  • gumpert>bugatti

  • @volcom13xx are you 12? there two different cars... -.-

  • @ghosthunter2006 are you retarded? what does > mean?

go back to second grade and let me know what you learned

  • @volcom13xx > means that you compare two completely different cars with a different price tag and purpose. thats usually what a teenager would do while he hangs a new poster of his favourite supercar on the wall. i bet you havent even driven a sports car for that matter if you compare these two.

  • @volcom13xx In the second grade arithmetic class we learned this (>) means 'greater than', retard.

  • @22elcantil and the gumpert is greater than the bugatti wtf dont you get lol

  • @volcom13xx

Any car that I can think of is greater than the Veyron. Who wants a $2.4million quad turbo brick that can't turn? VeyronSS is a JOKE, it was made ONLY to break the top speed record. Don't expect it to hold the record for very long, Aero II is running this summer.

  • @philonetic The Veyron SS is actually pretty good when it comes to cornering. Maybe not the first car that springs to mind when it comes to fun, but it can certainly turn.

  • @HFLanciaStratos

Yeah it turns well but sadly only as well (1.00 - 1.04 skidpad g) as sportscars that cost only $50,000-$100,000 which just goes to show that Bugatti needed a W-16 Quad Turbo motor in a ridiculously over-engineered car to outperform an American V8 Twin Turbo. The only reason for the SS was to reclaim the top speed title from the Aero 1 which I still think the Aero 1 can top 270mph given the same test track as the Veyron. Veyron will never hold any fastest lap times is my point.

  • @philonetic The number of turbos doesn't really mean much, the Veyron simply has four to completely and utterly eliminate turbo lag.

Chances are, if either of us drove a Veyron today, it would be our absolute favourite car.

  • @HFLanciaStratos

But yeah I'd take an Apollo over a Veyron any day of the week. Gumpert is so outstanding and get's little credit. The company just started in 2005 and held this lap time by 2009. Truly a German technological marvel of engineering, and they did it without using American designs and motors like Koenigsegg or Ultima etc.

  • i want to see the 800hp version at work.

  • notice how little tyre squeal you hear?

    Griptastic

  • Why can't they just show the camera facing the road at all times? Fuckers have ruined an otherwise great clip!

  • @carllundstrom They showed the Road the entire time after about 1:00 in...

  • @carllundstrom I just thought the same ... -.-

  • I wish they would just leave it on the one camera shot so you can see the clock running from start to finish. You can see that they've edited the video because at the start when they show the track view it's overcast and then when it changes to the driver it's bright sunshine outside. I don't doubt the car did a 7:11 just saying it would be good to see an uninterrupted lap.

  • lol dont be a hater but yea that wud be nice

  • the driver, Florian Gruber said he isn't very familiar with the 'Ring, but this car is able to do a sub 7 minutes time. they will try that when he gets to know that track better.

  • God Damn!

  • what a lap

  • but the radical isn#t legal on german streets, so it isn't an official record

  • @spiritussanctusband

thats not true. the gumpert apollo is legal on german streets

  • @coolace88 Did I say the Apollo isn't legal?Sorry, I wanted to say, the Radical isn't legal on German streets.

  • @spiritussanctusband Its not legal in north america (Canada/Us) as well as a few more countries

  • @spiritussanctusband

sure it is. this is the S-version, not the R. the 'normal' and the sport-version are legal on german streets. i dont know if the R-version is also legal but i dont think it is because of the emissions.

  • @spiritussanctusband i think it is. to prove the car is road legal radical drove it from the uk to the nurburgring. i read it in evo who had a journalist go with them. it must be road legal in germany as they drove it on german roads to the ring and also took it for a blast on the roads around the track.

  • @spiritussanctusband hey NAZI

shut up i life in ALTENburg Germany and u can use this car with no problems and any policeproblems

ALL GUMBERTS are LEGAL and ready for use

    SO SIT DOWN nazi

  • @TheKevinJustinJason

the first thing is, that i am not a nazi and the second thing is that i have never said that the gumpert is illegal on german streets, i said the radical sr 8 lm is illegal on german streets (the car thats is faster than the radical).

  • @spiritussanctusband i wanted to say, the radical is faster than the gumpert, i wrote twice radical

  • @spiritussanctusband When you look at radical what do you see? an LM car a track car.Gumpert Apollo is a real street car not a go cart that has radio heater ac and a ROOF!!!
