A peregrine in level flight, under its own power, can fly faster than a cheetah can run. If you dropped a cheetah from "hundreds of miles" in the sky, it would not fall as fast as a peregrine. A peregrine's aerodynamics allow it to exceed terminal velocity. A cheetah does not have the same aerodynamics. In the end, the cheetah vs. peregrine comparison is really quite stupid. It's like comparing apples to oranges.

Okay i love how people are fight over whats faster when it's dropped through the air. The comment on the fastest animal in the video was there for the comment on Bolt being slightly slower. It's to show how funny it its for the fastest man alive adopting the fastet animal alive.

The Spine-tailed Swift uses its own body to project itself foward, so your statement is invalid. Also, the cheetah wouldn't go nearly as fast as a falcon because the falcon is equiped perfectly for diving at its prey.

Somebody was flaming that a peregrine falcon was the fastest animal in the world.

neglecting air resistance, we can calculate the falcons speed at ground and cheetahs,

ie Cheetah (27kg) : 1/2mv^2 = mgh, solving V to equal 62m/s, where the peregrine falcon (5kg) solves out to 62m/s, meaning that they would both drop at the same speed. Thefore, cheetah = run faster under its own power = fastest animal on earth. Hope that cleared it up.
