  • all ws.6 LS1's are rated at least 345RWHP do your research and you will see i am rite, the 01 vettes were rated at omg 350RWHP thats fuckin amazing same engine same performance WTF and dont try to pull that power to weight BS bc my best friend has an 01 zo6 and we weighed them one after another i took out my jack, spare tire, back seats and i was less than 100lbs over him so for u none beleivers out there STFU

  • pretty awesome cars, the LS2 GTO stock is faster than the fastest stock WS6 (01-02 WS6 with LS6 intake and upgraded clutch)

    Quarter Mile Times:

    6.0L LS2 GTO: 12.8-13.0

    5.7L LS1 WS6: 13.3-13.5

    and the LS2 GTO's 0 to 60 is almost half a second faster than the WS6. I love both cars but my heart has always been with a WS6. It's a shame both cars are extinct. Nobody should hate on either car but to lay the others to rest about the GTO...IT IS FASTER in almost every sense of the word. PONTIAC<3

  • Drivers race usually. Also the LS seems faster because they are underrated. That looks like a Sleek beak Trans Am not a WS6. I do agree with Butthurt on one thing more, 00+ do make 300+ to the wheels on average. My T/A is a 2000 4L60E car and completly stock made 301RWHP and 319ft/lbs. Plus it is a 6 speed LS f-car, they can break a high 12 in stock form with drag radials usually not all the time.

  • I would take either car I love them both .. An Ls1 can beat an LS2 any day of the week, an LS2 can beat and Ls1 any day of the week.. Its a drivers race in my opinion, just look at the the 1/4 mile and 0-60 times of each car, almost identical. The clear winner in this video for me is Pontiac. I wish GM cut Buick instead of Pontiac.

Sure they gotta be restored but that goes for any car from the 50's and 60's that werent garage kept... Plus my car is 15 years old and has almost 115K on the engine and chassis 'am the 3rd owner and had it about a year and no problems yet ofcourse it's no honda that go 200k before breaking down but hey she still runin strong.

  • @BobbyHaet I wish the same thing but I did some research and found that Buick's sales in some other country doubled, almost tripled Pontiac's in the states so I guess it was only a matter of time. I hate it though, I only wish the true muscle cars in 02 had more support than what they had. Seriously, your choices in the Ford world were slim to none for competing with an LS1, so i say WTF America. I mean what could I do, I was 14 when it happened, but the first car I bought was a 02 SLP Camaro...

You're loosing a ton of power right off the bat. No one in their right mind would do that bud, AND, the two guys in this video are obviously all about power, which tells me if that were a true WS.6, there would definitely be a Functional RAM AIR hood on that car; & THAT is how I know this is not a WS.6.

  • I've seen a stock ls1 ws6 make 308rwhp. Yes they're underated, the trans am and the camaro. I also know that a full exhaust and a lid will bring a ls1 ws6 to 344rwhp. Read ls1tech, people post tons of dyno results on there. Do your research kids.

  • @njwolf2k9 You have to consider climate, elevation, dyno..So maybe with perfect conditions and a generous dyno, and some good synthetic motor oil a car rated at 325HP to the crank will only lose on 17hp to the rear. Not saying its impossible, but its rare.

  • lol what surprises ppl about a passenger changing things like that? even a 150 pound person can change things by a good bit since power/weight ratio is really important. Why do you thinan ls1 corvette with equal drivers will outrun a ls1 fbody by a decent amount. Tk he GTOs biggest short coming is its weight. Even stock for stock an LS1 fbody will outrun the heavier GTO even though the LS2 is the more powerful motor. The GTO weighs a good 2-300 pounds more.

  • @Feenyxxx95 No absolutely not will the LS1 fbody outrun an LS2 GTO stock for stock..An LS1 foxbody will not even outrun and LS1 GTO stock for stock. I've experience both scenerios. Plus I have an LS1 GTO, and I have yet to lose to a T/A. My buddy has one with bolt-ons, and all I have is headers, exhaust and CAI, and I still walk away from him

  • @Ensilvanation foxbody? do you mean f-body? not the same thing. and an ls1 stock for stock with an ls2 gto is a drivers race and an ls1 fbody will pull on an ls1 gto they have the same engine and the gto weighs more and is less aerodynamic. 

  • @camarospade Yes I meant F-body. I don't know why I typed foxbody, heat of the moment. If we are talking about a 2002 WS6 T/A. No a race with an LS2 is not a drivers race. The LS2 will pull everythime 400hp 395lbs. The T/A was rated at 325 HP 340 TRQ. I don't know where you get your info from. Check the track times of all three. Do some research both GTO's are faster then a stock T/A even if its slightly lighter than the two.

  • @Ensilvanation ls2s do not put down 400 to the wheels. they put down about 340-350. while a stock ls1 will put down about 310 and the fact the gto weighs about 400lbs more and is less aerodynamic evens out the power difference. and have read many forums. and i had a stock ls1 fbody and ran gto's both ls1 and ls2. go watch some dyno videos and race videos. or go line them up and see.

  • @camarospade no shit I know they don't put down 400 at the wheel. With the IRS on the GTO's they lose 17% of their power to the wheels. So the LS2 is putting around 330 to the wheel which is still more then what the WS6 put down at the crank. The WS6 puts down around 270 to the wheel and they curb at around 3490, The LS1 puts down around 295 to the wheel. No stock Fbody is walking either GTO with a competent driver. I've raced a stock WS6 in my bolt-on LS1, and destroyed it. Mine puts 363 rwhp.

  • @Ensilvanation i never said it would walk an ls2. i said it would be a drivers race which means it's basically even and an ls1 fbody will pull on a ls1 gto. and almost all ls1s put down more than 300 to the wheels. they were a very underrated engine that's why the same engine in the corvette was rated at 350.. a slightly different cam in the engines. and there have been many times where an fbody will put more to the wheels than a vette. and a ws6 is an ls1. same motor.

Your not telling me anything I don't know. The WS6 T/A came factory stock with 325HP at the crank. It is no way making 300 to the wheel no matter what the scenerio. The T/A has the same IRS as the GTO. It loses 17% to the wheel. I make 363 to the wheel and I eat bolt-on T/A's. Honestly..I speak from experience.

  • @Ensilvanation the t/s has the same engine as the corvette and the corvette is rated at 350. they put the t/a at 325 for sale purposes. and most t/a's will put down 300 or a little more to the wheels bone stock. ws6 ls1=camaro ss ls1=04 gto ls1= c5 corvette ls1.

  • @camarospade Do you know what bolt-ons are? I will name just three that can get you that can get you over to 50 to the flywheel Moron! Coated Kook's L/T headers 30HP, stainless works full exhaust high flow cats 12HP, K&N CAI Thermal wrapped 15HP. I've had my car dynoe'd plus I live up North cars are just faster and run better in cooler conditions. Think about it LS1 350HP to the crank plus 57HP in 3 bolt-ons 407 HP to the crank it loses 17% of its power through the drivetrain 337 rwhp!

  • @Ensilvanation Ported TB, SLP underdrive pulley, SLP higher ration rocker arms, MSD racing wires and racing plugs, LS7 clutch, and custom tune. Not to mention the use of Royal Purple increases HP by 3%. SO you tell me how getting 360HP to the rear is impossible with bolt-ons. My next step is getting LS6 heads then a mild cam. That will put me up over 400 rwhp. I'm no idiot. Im 30 yrs old , and know exactly what Im talking about. You've never seen my car dyno'd.

  • @Ensilvanation1998-2002 ran LS1's and everyone says they only run 325RWHP wrong do your research gm underated them so they could sell them cheaper gm High performance tested this, stock WS.6 LS1's made 410 to 420hp and you should know that V8 engines loose 15% to the wheels comes out to 350 to 360RWHP the LS2's were rated at 375RWHP but they weighed more so it came out almost dead evan but if u take out the jack and tire ect you can have an advantage over the GTo by power to weight ratio.

  • well the ta hit it on and the gto hit on 3 then go but i still love both cars

  • it's actually more than 185lbs.. by you switching the passenger to the trans am.. it's removing 185lbs from the gto while simultaneously adding it to the trans am.. which means.. 185 + 185 = 370lbs

    the weight difference is setting each car back by about 2 full sized adults.. which is around 370lbs

  • The torque management kills the gtos performance. I notice with my 05 I have to launch it just right to get maximum performance. And it takes a pretty tuned in driver to coax it out. Thats why a lot of these gtos are getting walked by cars with 100 less hp. They are hard to drive with all the factory BS in the tuning.
