Ong Namah shivay! Niketa Ji, the mind is capable of doing any thing. As babaji puts it we are all miniature forms of that Sat-chit-ananda, we are capable of doing any thing. One can digest even poison without any problem, if he/she decides to do that positively. Make sure you stop complaining, the srichakra wouldnt work otherwise. Ask ur husband to think that the food is being consumend by his Nashwar body, or the body that is different from his soul; his body is capable of digesting any thing.
He will be fine. One more thing, in order to ensure that the negative energy from the food doesnot reach the soul it might be useful to purify the food by reciting the following mantra thrice before eating - "Ahar Shuddho Sattwashuddhi Sattwashuddho Dhruva-smriti"
I would suggest everyone to even recite this mantra before having any type of food be it veg or nonveg. STOP WORRYING.. leave it on Shiva.

i am tensed my inlaws force my husband to have nonveg daily(2 times daily)
i keep fast n i m pure vegetarian and even when we were living in other place he was a vegetarian.....now we r transferred to home place.
