I could only shear for a few hours at a time with the knife till my arm got to tired and then cut limbs that you didn't want to cut. 600 trees an hour that is a tree every 6 seconds - come on now I don't think I can walk by that many trees in our field. Just sounds like you have to one up me. Well you did.
@08ablenku I have used the machettees too but they are much slower than the sickle bar as shown in this video. The guy running the machine is most likly going slower for the camera. We can adverage about 200 trees an hour on our farm. Kohl's Stony Hill Tree Farm in central PA.
@kshtf i can shear more than 200 trees/hour consistently if the trees are as the ones in the video. one of our shearers was timed to see how fast he could go and he sheared over 600 frasers in an hour. pines are slower but i assure you, using 2 machetes is faster. E-Clan Shearing, Minnesota

The company that I work at uses two18 inch-blade machettees, the trees get sheared much faster and they have a nice, consistant slope.
