Rules and techniques won't count for anything if you are suppressing (or lacking) the creativity and some type of originality. The effect that electronic music has on people is so infectious because of skill AND passion. Where's the passion in pandering to everyone else's tastes, in the music you are creating? Adapting to public musical trends doesn't seem like such a wise idea. Has anyone turned on the radio lately?
