So, I pray that you come to know the reality of God and his beautiful nature.
Get to know some people who know God! They can tell you of his power, holiness, love, assurance, etc. The things you are searching for are found in him alone.
I understand your statements. The difficulty in searching for truth outside of scripture (and God himself) is that it cannot be found! So its a lifetime of searching until death-when all things will be revealed. The bible promises that if we search for for peace outside of the Lord who is the ultimate peacegiver we can guarantee a life of pain and confusion. (inside, in our hearts)
I think the whole unquestioning faith thing devalues the message; because then you are not letting freedom to explore the opposite; setting boundaries on another person, that they may or may not set themselves.
I take the bible as a suggestion or proposition, a 'maybe' for consideration; but not as a rock-solid certainty; yet it is certainly an interesting suggestion, yet I must (for myself, for my peace) uncover the truth in my experience and interaction in life.
