If you didn't know(I'd be really surprised if you did) we announced our federal budget and it actually takes into account the US economy, and in turn hopefully eases the blow from the effect of the US's weak economy. OMG you understood Ron Paul? Like 99% of Americans have no clue what he states especially on economics and foreign policy. It's sad that Mccain is in the lead, someone who doesn't know anything about economics. I was actually hoping you guys would get a change in the administration and help your country out. Just curious, why do you want the CDN worth less compared to the USD? does the lower USD value entice greater imports into canada which effects domestic production? or is there some other reason why?
while there are many reasons why(I can probably give you a 20 page essay) I'll sum it up to a few. Yes, our manufacturing sector is costing way too much now and those jobs are going overseas(not down south). The US is our biggest trading partner and with our high dollar it makes the US buying our goods(like energy) a lot harder. The trading is being more one sided, when at a lower CND dollar it would be more balanced(both sides benefit). Your dollar vs. the world is also not exactly ideal.

i think the point that many people don't realize is this. there was still fractionary lending in the past BUT the gold was a check on exactly how much money could be printed. inflation inceased a lot due to the fed, but once that check was removed it exploded.
Ron Paul also made the point in this debate that gas prices have not risen at all compared to gold. We are only paying more because our dollar has lost that much value. Which means if our dollar had been backed by gold we would still be paying the same price for gas.
This is the reason the governments of many countries are discussing no longer accepting to dollar as payment for oil.
