I hadnt heard that" which basicly means "how the hell would you know what gasoline prices are going to be?" which is the right answer. Bush wasnt saying he didnt know what the price was, he was saying that there is no way he, or any reporter could possibly predict what the price would be.

I've just checked out the prices here in Britain.

It is £1.30 a litre in UK = $2.55 a litre in USA

It is about £5.90 a gallon (65% of that price is tax) equal to $11.55 dollars a gallon.

I worked for valero oil refinary in Deleware and it only cost Valero 19cents per gallon of gas .also only 10%of crude oil is converted to gasoline and the largest byproduct of oil is propane and hydrogen which is sold for even higher prices.You are very wrong the oil companies make profit margins that even the Columbian cocaine cartels are unable to make. There are 42 gallons of oil in a barrel. Oil is 145 dollars a barrel. Fed taxes are 19 cents a gallon.

State taxes vary, so how much of cost of gallon of gas is the price of crude oil?

I dunno All I know is I worked with a general foreman of Valero oil refinary in Deleware city,Deleware and he assured me that the total input for a gallon of gasoline from that oil refinary was only 19-22cents per gallon and he assured me that amount included the total cost of the crude oil.

I agree you have a good point but from what I was told only 10%of crude oil is gasoline and the biggest byproduct of the refining process was propane and hydrogen and they make plastic out of the oil. A foreman told me they make more money on propane,sulfer,and plastics than they do with gasoline.10%of oil is gasoline so divide 3.45$ per gallon of oil by10% and you get 35cents per galofgas. I worked there about 3 months ago so 19-22cent seems about right since oil was a few dollarscheaperthannow

Plastic is made out of Natural Gas.

It would be unusual if your refinery was only 10% of a barrel into finished Gasoline.

They would be losing a ton of money.

methane,propane,Hydro gen sulfide H2S which is further refined to pure Hydrogen.the above all are natural gases. I don't think I've heard of plastic being made from natural gas but I know it is made from the byproducts of the oil refining process.And the refinarys make more money on propane and hydrogen than gasoline.atleast thats the case at Valero oil refinary in the /Deleware state area.

This varies greatly from how things were in the past.

In Australia we're paying around $1.40 per Litre NOW (even got as high as $1.50 a few weeks ago).

At $1.40 a litre, that is the equivalent of paying around $5.24 per gallon after currency conversion.
