  • Don't talk to her like she's a idiot. She's blind, not a moron. "Side to side, side to side"

  • the sad fact is that most blind children aren't taught as early as this. it is also a sad fact that all blind children need to learn braille (of which only 10 to 15% are ever taught). She is well on her way to a far more independent life that most.

  • real so inspiring! good job pretty girl! :)

  • What a wonderful little girl. I am blind and it is possible that my 3 year old will be too. This video makes me feel better. I wasn't born blind so a toddler with a cane is new for me. Check out my blog playingtheblindcard.blogspot.com

  • I think that she was wanting to take off her hat so that she can hear her environment better. Maybe move it above her ears:)

  • Aww bless xx

  • This is so cute. I rmember when I learned to use the cane. It took me half an hour to go over a six foot bridge. I found out a while later that it was only two feet above ground and not twenty. I was eight, and had lost my eyesite a few months before.

  • I commend parents for taking the time to start their visually impaired children off right to get them used to mobility aids and independent travel. Bravo!

Plus she's just so cute walking around with her tiny little white cane :)

  • She'd grow up to be a computer technician, I know! That is, after stem cell therapy. But ITMT, I could set up her kiddie PC with Linux and screen reading. She'll love it!

  • This is great! I have had parents who will not allow their blind children to go outside resulting in very handicapped teenagers. Then I have had parents whose children were not told what they could not do and they have accomplished so much on their own! This baby has a head start! YAY!

  • This is so awesome , im writing my architecture thesis on the "unseen beauty" and designing a facility to serve as a educational facility and place of relaxation for the blind, this just gives me more incentive to do better =D

  • My son is nine and legally blind but he has trouble in the bright sun and with his depth perseption so he will be getting cane trained soon I hope they are sending a mobilty person to his school soon. I wish we would have started sooner but we where not sure how much sight he would have and he did get around well.

  • I know a lot about deaf people, but i was watching these videos to learn about the blind. cute girlie(:

  • I love the pink and white outfit. She's so cute. :)

  • I got my first cane (only a guide one, though) at about thirteen. I mostly use it at night.

  • It is weird hat my reaction to this is: AWWWWWW! She is so endearing.

I have two blind friends (they are twins) and I am visually inpaired, but registered blind, and they told me they got their first canes at five-years-old.

  • @Rikku2250 So you can see right? So you WATCH YT videos. I can see, 20/20 in left 20/60 in right (right eye slight myopia) but I use a blindfold every Sunday or so. I managed the blind for a day challenge for 11 hours before giving up totally! I will continue...

  • Im an orientation and mobility instructor in Chicago. This is amazing! I am looking to get into Early Intervention and this gives a little insight into working with VERY young ones!

  • What a beautiful little girl! I applaud you for giving her such an early start to an independent and fulfilling life.

  • Awesome video of an amazing little girl! I'm in O&M and would love to see more videos like these on YouTube. Most of the kids I've worked with are some of the most fun and outgoing you'll meet. Thanks for sharing this video!

  • she doesnt like the grass..

  • What a little precious cutie.

  • I know some folks are saying this is sad, but she's happy obviously. It's different, and its a pain in the neck some times, but blindness isn't any big tragedy, and I'm glad that the little girl is learning so early.

  • What a cutie! She is off to a really great start.

  • She is such an adorable little girl. Look at her little hands and feet and face, aww! That cane is so cute!

  • This little girl is a testament to the human spirit and all good luck and best wishes to you!

  • My daughter is 2 years 2 months. I started her with her cane at 8 months. It is wonderful that she can get around by herself now! I need to update my video on here :) You're doing a great job. Keep up the good work!

  • Stuff like this breaks my heart, as it is sad enough for adults, let alone children, but glad to see someone is teaching her how to one day make it on her own:)

    Great Stuff:)

  • what a cute little girl! It's great that she's graining these independence skills so early. Well done. :-)

  • I think it's great that so many more people are teaching kids this young to use a white cane. When I went to school kids would only get their first cane when they were 8 or 9.

  • Yes, it is aparent that you are living proof.

  • Great work....she will be on her own in no time with all this practice...!!

  • shes two and in preschool? cool (:

  • :((((

ive never seen a blind kid.

    this is really sad

  • They can do pretty much anything that sighted children can. = )
