I don't think they practiced.. it looks like he's improvising. for instance at 1:01, he's not getting the tempo right to begin with, because she's slowly speeding up.. there are a couple of similar examples during the clip.

Really, the recorder is the worst possible instrument to play around someone like Victor Borge. =P The recorder requires so little air to produce a pure tone that overblowing even slightly completely destroys it. Playing such a sensitive instrument would have been so hard to play around someone who makes it so easy to lose composure and start laughing. For the most part, though, she pulled it off rather well - a lot better than I ever could.

@bluehiu it's like all comedians, they have their bits that they do. He has lots of gags that he uses over and over, like his seatbelts in the piano bench. There's some things I think he does just to make the person he's accompanying crack up.

actually at the dvd that was realesed with his life work shortly after he passed away, may his soul rest in peace, he did explain that he had heard this pice of music but he had never learnt to play it, so yes he imporivises the entire time. he was a genious, a musical wounder. People saying he didn't know this piece must be insane. Pianist generally speaking through music school and before they become performance artist do a shit load of accompany work and end up learning more pieces for other instruments than piano itself, not to mention it's easy money to play accompany for soloist. Considering how well known this piece is and how old he is theres over 100% chance hes seen the music at least once.
