@corgrath It does, yes, though I use the phone patch for corporate clents for whom asking them to use Skype would be awkward. Tom uses Skype on his end, though, calling my studio phone line. When he was in Korea, that was easily the most cost efficient method for recording.
Thanks for sharing guys. I think there's a lot of people that don't realize how much work you guys do to put on a great podcast; but we appreciate it for sure.
How long would you say it takes you to do 1 episode? I have never thought about all the work involved. In my head you just recoded each others phone call and post it. Seeing all the work involved is amazing.
@cheeseman350 I try not to think about actual numbers, but with prep, preproduction, recording, and editing, it's probably in the range of 10-15 hours for each batch of 2 episodes.
Really cool. I now realize I could never play games with Eric in real life. It would be too weird to hear the Announcer Guy's voice coming out of his mouth.
Thanks for sharing, Eric. I know that this is something you enjoy doing - can hear it in your voices and now I can see why you have fun mixing up the audio clips. Hope you guys made it through the recent storms okay. Got some family near you who lost power and had some flooding. I appreciate the cute kid. Also agree that it's hard to put that voice w/ that face, but that's always the case w/ radio/voice over type people.
That was lots of fun Eric, thanks for sharing. I'm sort of amazed at the amount of work that you put into The Dice Tower, but also very grateful. I'm guessing that your sound proof booth is for your career as a voice actor, and not something you invested in for the podcast?
I like when American people speak english so clearly because I understand everything. Sometimes I listen american people and i don't understand anything, not a word!
@daem0nfaust That looked like Adobe Soundbooth or Audition. If you're a prospective podcaster, don't let the expensive hardware or software intimidate you. You can get by with just the free or cheap stuff, at least to start.
@darquehope That is indeed Audition. I've used the program for years, so when I upgraded my audio machine recently, I stuck with it, upgrading to the new CS 5.5 version.
Every time I see your face, I have a hard time acepting that THAT voice actually comes out of it. It's like watching clips of JR, the WWE ringside announcer. When you see him speak, it's so hard to believe that powerful voice of his comes from that little pie-hole...
Eric has the voice of a smooth-talking angel!

Doesn't skype (google talk, etc, etc) solve the phone problem? I think its used by most podcasters.

@gunslingerak That's my home studio, where I do the bulk of my VO work. It's a tight space, but it works. :)

@JiraiyaFan I use YouSendIt for the large file transfers. I use it for work too, so I've subscribed to get the expanded features of the site.
