  • And deity is kind of an odd word to use. People's view of what god is ranges drastically across the board.

  • A deity is definitely not an obvious fiction. Science can neither prove nor disprove the existence of something that cannot be measured. Just because something cannot be measured, does not mean it doesn't exist.

  • If I could choose one person to bring back to life, it would be Bill Hicks.

  • Thanks for uploading this.

  • most people who are atheist like to consider themselves smarter or more enlightened than people who believe in god (dont ask me why). so its pretty surprising why so many atheists just flat out assume bill hicks or george carlin didnt believe they were created by something beyond them. anyone who has an even slightly honest thought process will have to consider the fact that we are here, we are incredibly wonderful and magical even, and cant just appear from no where.

  • @nashnwo1234 Athiesm is not belief in something coming from nothing, it's simply the lack of a belief in a deity. & I'll tell you why - a diety is an obvious fiction. If you believe fiction, well, you might be stupid.

  • @degas5000 a deity is an obvious fiction? gee i missed the news report officially stating that we have disproven the existence of a creator. are you familiar with the term "implication" ? ok well, when you say that you dont believe in a creator, you are implying that all of what we know as matter came from nothing, because since there's no deity as you have obviously proven to us (sarcasm), this stuff must have come from nothing. but you know all the answers to the universe, not lil old me...

  • Wow. Bill HIcks on public access TV in Austin, Texas. How cool is that? He refused to sell his soul to the jews and satan and so his career and life were cut short. Comics like Leary and Dennis Miller sold out immediately and won't die for a while. This reminds me of the years I spent on access TV in Columbus, Ohio. I never wanted it but became the target of the City in stupid Federal and local court cases over obscenity that became a 6 yr battle for the 1st Amendment. The Constitution lost.

  • anyone who really listens to Bill Hicks knows that he is not an atheist.

  • oh wow

i am so happy i found this

also i am very grateful you put this together

    thank you

bill hicks ~ one of the greats

  • @44eelz i knew it was jacking off..probably soes tie into that lol!

  • @44eelz uh yea hes talking about lives not being miracles since there are potentially millions every time a guy ejaculates. wiping off his chest means he was jerking off and came on his own chest lol

  • i think david cross is the only one who I see as being as close to what bill hicks would have been today

  • Comment removed

  • nah, both george and bill also had [short] bits where they expressed their ease with the idea of a truly supreme consciousness...

however "god" is a very simple way to make reference to what popular culture interprets as god, which is why I'd say they both used the term in that manner...

  • I do agree. I just remembered where Bill says in his act "I don't need a middle man, thank you".

I did choose the word "god" because it is the easiest, most common way to describe...it.

Peace and Love over and out!

p.s. we only have so many words we can put in a comment and it does limit expression...limits what I can make public.

  • yeah :c

I was gonna quote the bits i meant, but i ran out of space and deleted a paragraph xD

  • lol....thank you for the reply :-D

    xo

  • @OcularFilms i always got the impression from Bill that he didn't use the word God loosely. some quotes, "there's a living God who will talk directly fucking to you!" "the perfect and holy children of God, which is what we are." "God's love is unconditional, and there is nothing we can do to ever change that. the truth is that we are one with God, and he loves us." but then again, he also said, "God is consciousness, and we are all God trying to realize our infinite potential." less traditional

  • Bill's take on God was VERY different to George Carlin. Carlin was an out and out atheist, Bill was very interested in spirituality. He was into meditation, as well as the spiritual applications of various psychedelic substances... His problem was with organized religion, not spirituality.

  • You're 100% right. I watched this video again and for the life of me, I can't understand what was in the video which inspired that comment. Maybe I'd had too many glasses of wine and thought something was said that wasn't. It's so idiotic I will remove it.

Thank you for leaving your comment.

    ~Peace

  • lol ^_^ don't be so hard on yerself...

    also, nuuuuu! :P

I hate it when people erase their comments from a discussion, it loses all context and becomes like a weird mystery xD

  • ope...I should have waited :-/

  • @DangerousBastard There's an interview of him stating that he's not an atheist. It was something along the lines of him saying that a lot of people in England are atheists and he mentions "I'am not an atheist but what that tells me is that they're thinking.."

  • @DangerousBastard Spirituality is great!

  • @DangerousBastard . JFC, Bill believed in god. He did say that he wasn't an atheist. I agree with you 100% though.

  • the holy prophet of comedy.. man he would be rolling in his grave if he knew what was going on today

  • he'd have some killer bits on 9/11 though ^.-

  • This is good stuff man.

    Always good stuff from dre.
