Definitely worth the buy if you're into combat simulation and are willing to put some hours into the game. This is no BF3 or COD, this is an entirely different case of eggs. Some people find it enjoyable because of how modular the platform itself is; you can change the game around to match your exact likes or demands and the amount of custom, player made content is astonishing. The ArmA2free version is good, but I'd recommend investing in the full kit if you're into sitting in bushes for hours.

@tunnelscope BF3 is nowhere near more realistic then this game... the maps are small and forced, when you die it just plops you into the middle of combat again. there is no real tactical planning involved in the average BF3 game... just run+gun basically. This game is infinitely more realistic in the sense that you are playing on an actual battlefield with large open areas and REALISTIC scenarios (rather then a building surrounded by overturned busses and narrow corridors.

This is realistic.

this may be realalistic in all the tecnical ways but games like this rarely pay attention to what the man on the ground is going through. crouching and walking isnt slower when going uphill, you dont have sweat in your eyes and these guys run forever. im in the military in a combat field and though i havent fought in battle ive been in training in the heat of texas with a lightend combat load. fully armed a soldier wears out quickly in long periods of combat.

ARMA 2, if your an infantry. you can drive small vehicle, like a HumV. pilot F35 and all the helicopters. tanker, a range of LAVs and 2 main battle tanks. thats just 1 thing, but there is much more. i love bf3, but im pointing out thats its not realistic

This is a Warfare Simulator (This is not about GRAPHICS!) In Afghanistan you dont run around and just shoot people and jump =(COD & BF3) ArmA 2 simulates the real military equipment, vehicles, camouflages, firearms, military symbols and other stuff. (Do you really think if you are in Afghanistan you are like in BF3? = WAR and WAR and WAR) In ArmA 2 its not whole the time battles like in BF3. Most you peacekeep Afghan villages, support supply convoys, secure towns. 10/10 in realism :)

And airsoft is perfect for people who wants "real war". Good thing in games is that they dont have to be real. @Pas1logan The longer your sprint, the longer it takes for you to be able to shoot properly without your gun zigzagging all over the place, which is much more realistic thatn modern shooters where they seem to be able to only sprint for 6 seconds and then they are so phyically drained that they literally cant run any longer., they must be 400 pounds.

Real soldiers in combat situatuons are capable of incredible feats of stamina due to all the adrenaline that is released.

@KommandantSutto Sure, but I know for a fact that running around with 100 pounds of equipment will still tire you out regardless of being a hugely muscular soldier running off adrenaline. Sure, they may be able to go pretty fast and fairly far, but not for the lengths shown in the video when they weren't even under fire. Oh and let's not forget how they'd stop for a second or two to look around then keep sprinting for five years.
