That's exactly what I don't understand. Why do you fanmade game creators have to always publish what you do during the process? If I had the skill and contacts to do a Chrono project, I would never dream of not getting a C&D by Squirt-Penix. Everyone knows what they do. "When will you ever learn..."

So, next time, anyone interested in making a fan Chrono game, they should keep it in secret, then upload it and distribute it through the net, and that's it. Squirt-Penix won't have time to stop it.

It's true. The C&D letter was fake. The Crimson Echoes team was led to believe that someone informed Square Enix about the production of this rom hack, and that that was how SE found out and sent a C&D.

But that was only part of the fluke... The C&D letter in its entirety was utter bullshit, a fake, cheap copy.

That Cease and Desist order is fake. It's signed "square enix legal department". C&D orders are signed with a real persons name; usually the lawyer representing the company, or an officials name and their rank or position in the company. The Crimson Echoes team is gullible and was tricked. If you call the number on the C&D order 310-846-0400, and ask them if it's true, they won't know what you're talking about. They never sent it. Zeality is freaked out by 1 fake letter.

I've done my own detective work and have arrived at your conclusion. I however, believe that this may have been done by one of his Enemies from OCR. I don't think the real issue is the shutting it down. If they just shut it down it wouldn't be that big a deal. The thing that made it awful was the fact they apparently waited until it was 95% finished before making them stop. The people making this wasn't selling it or making money off of it. It was just awful letting them do all that work and then ruining it.

Myself as soon as I got the letter I would have sent out the 95% patch and said the letter arrived too late and they waited to long.

What's wrong is they nuked a rom hack.

Nuking the 3D remake of CT is totally understandable since it can outclass the original CT. However, a rom hack? That's just being assholes. I'm 90% sure that the reason Square's "dream team" will never re-assemble is because the higherups are acting like such utter assholes.

actually a lot of people requested for a remake, that is the one they released on the DS. There's a petition online too haha. The remake sold average, but good for 13yo game. There was a remake of Chrono Trigger in 3D, called Chrono Resurrection if I recall correctly, not by square. That would have been an interface/environment that I would replay Chrono Trigger.

Squaresoft was awesome back then. They were making masterpieces, not just fast sellers like today.

A version of their hack that, according to the original team, was only about seventy five percent completed was leaked before Square sent the C&D order. Although the current leaked version is relatively incomplete, I suspect that people will eventually finish the game more or less as it was intended to be by using the 98% walkthrough videos that are being uploaded to youtube now as a reference.
