Can you imagine a duelling pianos music video on the deck of a Solar Boat? Hey sRandyKopec...it's not going to cost you any KOPECs if you get these two Slavs together...Get Ray to Call me Sergei 306 934-1958
Ahoy Ray...I've got a Royal Canadian Navy music movie and a Solar Powered Boat manufacturer ready to start promoting this song. Call me 306 934-1958, Sergei Romanoff
Ray Manzarek is the man. Perhaps my favorite album (the closest competition is Mothership Connection and After Bathing at Baxters). I once saw the solar boat on electric sheep.
Hit me up! "Y un amigo me dijo: que estas esperando? Siempre estuve a tu lado. Puedes verme? No? Bueno, ven conmigo, es tiempo de que aprendas a ver" Cielos, esa introduccion hablada de Ray es sensacional, me gusta mas la voz de Ray cuando habla. Sus canciones como solista son tan lindas y positivas, profundas y alegres.
Say Ray Manzarek in 1974 or 1975. I'm pretty sure they opened for Joe Walsh. I saw a lot of concerts in the 70's. Some of it is a bit hazy. For more than one reason.
awesome song.........ray's tribute to his best friend jim morrison(your finally free!!!!!!)ray shows a lot of INSIGHT in this song....love you ray...........
Ray is a legend and I love him, but he obviously self destroyed his brain and spend lot of time trying to imitate Jimbo's lyrics style. You can check this listening to "Rick and the Ravens", "Other voices" (1971) and "Full circle" (1973)...
dude i love the doors but i dont know about this.ray what would morrison say if he heared u doing this in a holiday inn lounge?come on u know what mr.mojo risin would say.hed probly piss on ur vox continental
i m from Africa and a ceazy lover of the doors i try to stop hearing that part of organ in riders on the storm but can t man i hear it more amore all day it´s only magic thx RAY
the whole thing started with rock and roll! ray was starting to stretch his cosmic roots. his cover of downbound train is pure rock. rock on ray i'm listening
featuring jazz great Tony Williams on drums and Larry Carlton on guitar. I wore out this record in the mid 70's. This was out way before Night City. The whole Golden Scarab lp is brilliant. The followup lp was dissapointing.
I forgot about NiteCity, but still have the album inthe closet - and bought the album to CD changer for Christmas - gonna go nuts! LOL Remember there was a guy on the back cover of NiteCity, in the band, looked a little like Jim and people started speculating that Jim just faded into the back of the band to get away and write poetry. Really! Pretty sure that was the album. Nuts. Not a chance. LOL
Yes, it would seem I transposed the lineup from the whole thing and Golden Scarab.
Yes Robbie and John would have fit perfectly, but it was too soon after they parted ways from the Doors and relations were still a bit icy at that time. It was nic eto see them reunite briefly for the American Prayer effort.
Ray did some great stuff fusing his jazz pedigree to rock and he had some stellar players on this album. The drummer was Gary Mallabar, Steve Miller's drummer. Joe Walsh and Flo and Eddie from the Turtles were on this album as well and even the actor George Segal who was an excellent banjo player.
For the line-up you mention, you're thinking of "The Whole Thing Started With Rock And Roll..." "Golden Scarab" has Larry Carlton a great jazz guitarist, Tony Williams on drums, and Jerry Scheff on bass. However I easily imagine John and Robby playing these parts.
I saw the Manzarek and band perform whole album live at the Jazz Medium in Chicago in 1974. Fantastic! Intimate setting, awesome performances, sound system and lighting effects. I was only 16, and underage, but my friend and I were admitted to the club accompanied by friend's older brother. Drinking age in Chicago was only 18 at the time, though!
OMG, you're bringing me way back. I remember listening to this in the radio on the car, and liking it but not understanding it at all, even tho I knew all the words. Big, deep poetry for a girl of 18.
