  • i love Philip !

  • what does he mean by 'likes video' when he's talking about Lumet? Is that the video playback thing you get when you're filming?

  • doobiedwyer, Lumet filmed this movie on a new format which is something like HD video. It may have another more technical name, but it's a small camera and allowed him to get say, a shot of Phillip and a simultaneous shot of say Ethan Hawke, interacting in the same scene, at the same time. Whereas a much larger film camera would just be on one of the actors at a time. Lumet LOVED this! And evidently so did the actors! BTW, R U a subscriber? You should be!

  • It was when I put together that his 'boogie nights' and 'big lebowski' characters were the same person. That's when I knew he was the one. Awesome that he's been able to push his talent to the leading man level. Totally worthwhile actor, totally worthwhile person.

  • in my books he is one of the best actors alive- I just fell in love with his performances since I saw him in Boogie Nights

  • im still in awe of phillip if you love his performances you need to see LOVE LIZA, he carries that whole movie its a role build for an acting juggernaut!! i love film so much!!!

  • Played little league ball with him back when we were like 9 yrs old...very proud of him

  • Great interview!!! LOL.. Philip is a great actor!!

  • thats crazy u do look like him!

  • I know!

  • I feel like an idiot for not seeing this film! Ever since Charlie Wilson's War I think Hoffman is the best actor in the world.

  • He's considered the great actor of his generation.

  • Then you have to see him in Capote. His performance is insane.

  • I LOVE HIM SO MUCH

    BEST ACTOR OF OUR TIME

  • This year's Oscars have made more angry than any other year. This movie was not even nominated for any Oscars. It should have won Best Picture, Best Leading Actor (even though Daniel-Day Lewis was outstanding), Best Actress, Best Supporting-Actor (Albert Finney), Best Screenplay, and Best Director. I have see all of the Oscar nominee movies of the year so I know that this movie was way better than any of those movies.

  • Agreeance. I don't understand it either, BIGBOSS117MKDS. Guess it was too dark, or too New York for the conservative Academy. Although the ultimate winner for Best Picture "No Country for Old Men" was just as dark.

  • Phillip is so awesome!

  • I agree, Phillip is AWESOME! I really did feel like I was in the presence of a Great Actor. I rarely feel that kind of awe. He's an actor's actor, too. He should've been nominated for this role in "Before the Devil..." or for his other great role this year in "The Savages." Both superlative performances. He was nominated however, in Supporting this year for "Charlie Wilson's War." He'll be back to the Oscars year after year. You can bet on it.

  • Hi Stephen

Greetings from England. Thank you for your reply. Thanks to YouTube, I can see your show. You are a wonderful interviewer and I like your style.

As for your comments regarding PSH, I completely agree :) I loved the Savages!!

You got to interview Laura Linney, too - Wow!

    Best wishes,

  • I love you, Phillip :)

I hope I can take you for coffee one day *sigh*
