What is so ironic is that the Khmer Rouge was actually split into two camps. One claimed that the Vietnamese are our communist brothers. The other -- which was led by Pol Pot -- went back to the ancient hatred and mistrust of the Vietnamese. Not all of the victims, but many were actually Khmer Rouge who did not follow Pol Pot's doctrine. Like the Great Purge of the Soviet Union were communists, who did not follow Stalin's doctrine.
In all this game, the devil is losing and at the end will be accused of everything because GOD don’t want any rivals. Conclusion: live at the full in the freedom of GOD (praying in a right form, following the INSTRUCTIONS in the Bible - keeping the 10 commandments - including keeping the Saturday as the 7th day etc.) instead of in the incapacity and limited power of devil because he is just a temporary puppet. Jesus Christ is our savior and our hope!
'It is a fair generalization that the larger the number of deaths attributed to the Khmer Rouge, and the more the U.S. role is set aside, the larger the audience that will be reached. The Barron-Paul volume is a third-rate propaganda tract, but its exclusive focus on Communist terror assures it a huge audience.'
Chomsky&Herman, "Distortions at Fourth Hand", The Nation, June 6, 1977
@COMMUNISTPHILOSOPHY I have NEVER before heard of ANY Killing Fields-deniers. As patriotic of an American as I am, EVEN I agree that the US shares of blame for feeding the chaos and abandoning Kampuchea. But to say the number of victims is propaganda makes no sense to me. If you are Chomsky & Herman are correct, why didn't the propagandists create an even larger number? Why stop at 2 million?
Remember, you don't have to defend these murderers just because you share the same ideology.
To: kreewarrior : 1975, Lon Non lived in Pailin. Not many knew what he did or exactly where he was. I lived across the road from his small chalet but never seen him.
Yes...Tell you truth, every one were running for their life. I too left at noon on 17th of April 1975 to Olak, the border, with Hul tone, the governor. He wouldn't even wait for soldiers who walked from Treng to join him in Pailin. Their fates were not known, possibly all killed. At 7:00 p.m, when we just set up our camp, panic started When Pol Soth radioed in and said that the KR were in Pailin . Lon Non survived not, no one knew.
Thank you for this information. Its just been a mystery to me all these years about the general. He played such an important roll in the war and theres hardly any information on him. If theres any more detail that you can provide, I would greatly appreciated it.
I wish some knew what happened to him after that. Perhaps there could be a survivor that could provide some details on the even. Im a friend of one of his children and just doing some investigating on the disappearance on his father to get some closure. It would make him very happy.
I feel sorry for his son. But I just have no info of his whereabout or if he perished during KR taking over. I'll ask friends in Washingto DC and see if they know anything. But don't give him too much hope.
Dear kreewarrior... I had called my old friend and found that Gen. Lon Lon lost his life in Cambodia. His wife and all children were in USA. Now, she moved to California. Question is who claims to be his son. Please clarify.
General Lon nol was not died in Cambodia ;he died in the USA ,all his family r here. except his brother's family Mr Lon Non, savankoy . Lon Nol r Lon Lon ???
I did not say Gen. Lon Nol died in Cambodia. What we were talking about is Lon Non. his brother. I met Gen. Lon Nol on Cambodian Embassy, Washington DC in Winter 1977. He was cripple at the time. Senator Bob Dole was there too. Could you please read the comments carefully? I believe you get confused yourself. Thanks.
All the INDOCHINA country has wonderful people. I love you all. Peace to all. Dont let the mistake of past poor leaders to create so much hatred in this world.
Cambodia lost many provinces to Viet because the supid frienchs gave our land to viet in exchange for sex. Later, Sihanouk and his underlinks singed more provinces to viet for the same reason. What a shame!!!
Many pro-communist peace activists make dead wrong argument that millions of Vietnamese would be saved without the Vietnam war given the fact that millions of Vietnamese lost their lives in "re-education" camps and at sea on their journey for freedom after 1975; not mentioning two milliions of Cambodians executed by Khmer Rouge backed by China. In fact, Vietnam war is an ideological war between capitalism and communism like the current Afghanistan war is a war between democracy and terrorism.
Thailand has exactly proceed policy with morality and compromisation to cambodia that all can see from cambodia homeless and jobless people stay in Thailand and Thailand also take care cambodia people evacuated from war in cambodia. But cambodia never say in positive aspect to Thailand and is cheating Thailand. Therefore, the such sin of cambodia will certainly feedback soon. I believe and think so. They should called as very poor, dirty, backward idiot country in the world. Fuck cabodia.
Don't bull shit. I knew you thais very well. You raped 14-15 years old children to death. Stupid humanitarian workers could not even cough. They're scare to be kicked by your stupid soldiers too. They raped wiwes in front of their husbands. If the husbands protest or report to the coward workers, they would be beaten the hell out them. Thai animals assinged to take care of refugees, robbed anything valuable the refugees brought from home, including their sex.Proof available upon request
Wether one want to believe it or not,but up to this very day,the Cambodian survivors and non survivors alike are living under Khmer Rouge dictatorship, the communist vietnamese and the former Khmer rouge have merged together to rule over the Khmer population..
Khmer people had 2 dark sides worst than the KR. The Siam attacks at Angkor and the Viet VinhTe Canal that destroyed Khmer people almost completely. Khmer people are the lucky people because Khmer helped so many ethnic people like the Tai and the Viet during the Mongol war.
What they always seem to focus on is what happened during the Khmer Rouge. Yes it was horrible but Cambodia doesn't want to be remembered in that way. How about discussing how peaceful and prosperous that nation was before the Civil War/Republican Regime. Or how about discussing the aftereffects such as decay of cultural identity, loss of specialized labor /brain drain and the corruption within the government? I feel this is too little to late.
So...When found guilty, will he be stabbed repeatedly with an icepick to the face and genitals after injecting muriatic acid into his rectum? Or will he now lead a quiet peaceful life in solitary confinement with a mattress and three meals a day while being protected from any physical harm the rest of his life?
