i have a microkorg, but ive never used to vocoder (i have a talkbox banshee 2, so dont need to) but that ipod trick is very interesting, howd you do it? id like to use it for sampling into my kaosspad3 :3
Forgive me if you've already answered this, but how do you hook up your iPod to the microKORG? I can't figure it out, and the instructions aren't any help.
the microkorg has both a condenser mix and a line-in port. condenser is 1/8, line in is 1/4. you can use an instrument cable with a 1/4 to 1/8 converter plug to go from ipod to microkorg.
are you plugging into the Audio-In jack? also, are you able to then adjust/play pitch with that line-in... or are you using the vocoder-in for all that. sounds awesome, by the way.... am expecting my microkorg this week
plugging what into the audio-in jack of what? are u talkin bout the korg into a laptop? or are u talkin bout the vocoder mic? and playin the notes? gotta be more specific.
im guess its the plain one, and yes reverb and delay and like a million other things. but i always just add my reverb on garageband when i edit on the macbook cause it's easier to control and save a pattern of things.
because when i play with mine im not constantly writing down whatever im doin on a piece of paper next to me. it would kill the process in playing it for me because when i play i just like to play freely. there are few microkorg tutorial youtube channels, and sorry that mine isnt a tutorial. if i had the time and the patience then i might, but i guess i havent.
nope, it will be fine, maybe it could shorten its life because of unmatched impedances of korg out/amp in, but its rare thing. Thing is amp has specific cabinet whitch is not flat characteristic, but matched for guitar to sound nice. You cant hear your korgs nuances and shades if you dont get full spectrum of frequences, nor make ones. Maybe im overreacting, but i think you better play on headphones or even a pc speakers.
Of course, sometimes keys want to be attached to guitar amp to get guitarish sound, but no all the if you want to have good quality. Sorry for my english :(
aww i see, yeah i get you with the shades and nuances thing cause the guitar has a mono input when the korg has a left and right output. yeah itll sound much better with headphones and or pc speakers, but i just used the amp when i want it loud. but thanks for the tip.
No, I decided NOT to get one. Tried one and didn't like it that much. I'm going to buy a proper workstation, either a Korg M50 or a Roland Juno-Stage.
I don't have the Microkorg, which is why I'm getting the MS2000 (more features for same price). At least was thinking of getting it, but I realised my Blofeld makes pretty much the same sounds so I might track down an Alesis Fusion instead.
But yeah, if you don't need something that runs on batteries the MS2000 is just a better deal.
The MS2000 sounds like a great little synth, but many newer ones can create similar sounds anyways. Im picking up the Microkorg XL soon, and I would recommend it for anyone looking for a good analogue- ish sound.
Can you tell me how much one of these would cost? I would REALLY like to own one! I have a question about the vocoder, can you keep clean vocals and change the pitch, or do you have to change the vocals?
heh nice. cant stand leona lewis but it sounds way better with vocoder. kinda ironic cause it sounds like a robot singin bout love....and blood which it doesnt have
can i use a 3.5mm standard headphone jack( not 1/4 jack ) which my computer speakers have the 3.55m jack fits in ipods and psp etc... Can i use the 3.5mm jack speakers to play sounds on the micro korg or do i need to adapter of the 3.55m to 1/4 jack?
i just have a digital camera set up on a tripod... so thats why my voice is still heard.. im tryin to save for an external soundcard, so i can just put the vocoding sounds straight into my computer instead of havin to record it this ghetto way.
The microkorg computer like mic sucks. i bought a proper mic, and it makes a hell of a difference, picks up your voice more. oh yea a good sound! Vintage/hiphop Tweak #2!
I've seen all your microKORG vids and you're so good, it makes me wanna have a little duel with you just to see what other things you got up your sleeve haha. You got skills and you showed me some new things so thanks too:)
this is very cool. i have a microkorg and worked out how to play kanye west and leona lewis from your video haha. what is the dashboard song? it's been in my head since watching this video! anyway keep it up these are cool!
u need alot of practice, but with practice comes perfection why waste your time with the vocoder just plug a heil talkbox or banshee 2 your korg and get funkky lol ;)
ive been wanting one of those for awhile, hehe. just havent got around to doing so, even tho the quality of the vocoder isnt that great, it serves its purpose when i need to kill time. haha
very nice! certainly convinced me to buy one....but can you connect to odinary speaks from like pc speakers and also when u plug in ur ipod can u actually change the pitch of whtever song comes out?
as for speaker connections as long as u have the right cords and adapters im sure you hook up. and yes when i plug in my ipod, i can change the pitch for whatever song plays.. when u input the ipod, you can have it continuously playing or only have sound when you hit a key, and any effect or change in settings on the korg will change pitch, resonance, resolution, grain, reverb,.. all that stuff.
i think i'll post a video about plugging in the ipod. seems like a few people are curious about it.
she didnt connect the ipod to the synth. she plugged in her ipod to a pair of speakers and moved the mic over to the speakers to get the sound to come out of it.
i did connect my ipod to the synth. and the only thing connected to my amp is my synth, not my ipod. the ipod can be directly connected to the korg as an input.
next time, you should probably let the person who posted the video answer the question about their video. it's not too smart to make assumptions based on what you "think" you see. i dont like reading about what people said i did when in fact they are totally wrong and i didnt do anything that they said at all. like how would you really know? were you here when i made the video? sorry, it's just annoying.
It is alot of money but I recently bought one and I am telling you it is a great investment. I had to not eat lunch for 3 months and work my ass off for extra cash but it was definitely worth it.
its definitely fun if u play the piano or keyboard. for me its worth the money. i find myself making new rhythms and sounds and messing and tweeking already recorded audio. once u tinker around with it and learn more, its worth the money.
well im not saying that its not worth it. its that money is hard to come up with. and yeah its fun coming up with random beats on synthesizers, ive played a vintage synth before and it was fun :] and i want to study from it.

Yes, but price price price! :-) I don't have that much money!
I did try the XL out once though and was blown away. Very digital-sounding (at least the presets I tried) but in a good way - cuts through very well.
For cheap analog I'd settle with a Mopho, if you can stand the lack of knobs... but it's kinda unpredictable, so not for everyone.
