  • this awesomeness has nothing to do with trash metal-shit

  • wolfbrigade, disfear, warcollapse, extinction of mankind....

  • I've liked some Bad Brains and some Minor Threat for a while but ever since I found crossover so many bands have caught my eye. C.O.C. and The Accused being the rawest crossover I've gotten into as well as D.R.I, Stormtroopers and M.O.D. For some reason I like really soupy raw shit when I'm stoned whether its death or doom metal or thrash or hardcore.

  • @rmarcontell I guess... but Kill 'Em All and Ride the Lightning are very solid albums. They were not posers back then.

  • I HATE EVERYTHING AND I HATE YOUUU!

  • this record is more ominous and terrifying than any number of scandinavians in KISS makeup could ever hope to produce

"At seven tenths of a millisecond

after the explosion, and at a distance of 60 miles, the light from the fireball of a single-megaton thermo-nuclear device is 30 times brighter than the midday sun. This little boy has received severe retinal burns from an explosion 27 miles away..."

  • Why do we say "labels", it's a "genre" and they're good to have, because music sounds different none of it sounds the same................It's how we tell one sound from another..................Anyways I LOOOOOOOOVE Discharge, one of the Best hardcore bands!

  • You mean sound or the music structure?

  • Onslaught's "Thermonuclear Devastation" sounds really similar to the main riff.

  • because Onslaught's are discahrge fans!

  • British anti-capitalist hardcore, what more could one want? Love it.

  • why do we label music ... fuck off.

its discharge doing what they did best....

    thats it.

  • you label it automatically by associating it with Discharge... calling it 'good' or 'shitty' is also a label. Everyone labels, don't be a simpleton. Punk is full of labels just like the rest of life, you aren't special.

  • Actually it's just "thrash".

There's no "metal" part to it. There was speed metal and what eventually developed into death metal that carried thrash along with it. Slayer is an example of speed metal/proto-death metal with thrash influence.

"Thrash metal" was a corporate marketing term to make "thrash" more sellable as FAST, HARD MUSIC to ignorant masses as the queer hair metal movement finally died -- thrash was going mainstream, but at least the death/black metal underground would thrive.

  • thrash is metal with punk influences !

  • Why was this downvoted? This is truth! There's thrash, not thrash metal!!

  • FUCK OFF EVERYBODY

  • "Tags: D-beat"

Where can you here d-beat in this song? Listen to Realities of war it has D-beat.

  • total anarchy brit style

  • D-beat isn't a genre, it's a beat.

Can a band play duple as well?

  • listen to municipal waste

  • Huh??? Tis not metal my friend.

  • not completely, but a LOT of trash metal influence..

  • I suppose it has a little metal influence...just a little.

  • Actually Discharge has been mentioned as an inspiration for many trash-metal bands and metal bands during the eighties ;)

  • this was one of the first songs

  • I heard Driller killer on the late risers club today. Excellent radio show and it's archived.

  • thats awesome.

  • What other Hardcore punk would you recommend like this? I'm mostly into Thrash, Speed, Death, Black, old school Grindcore, Neo-classical, etc haha Metal.

  • Oh...and have you heard D.R.I.? You might like 'em.

  • black uniforms

    anti cimex

    driller killer

    broken bones

    caustic chirst

  • Disclose,Discard,Avskum,Kaaos,Terveet Kädet,Mob 47,Moderat Likvidation etc., there are so many good HC bands

  • @ANTICIMEX138 Ha you guys are awesome, still giving me suggestions after a year. (I'm not being sarcastic)

Not really too fond of Disclose...I've heard their whole discography and I've heard a fuckload of repeated riffs.

  • All American Rejects, Sum 41, Loverboy, Styx, Journey...

  • Pfft...what a laughable list. I hope you're fucking joking.

  • What's so funny about my list, huh?? I should also mention the hardcore band, Nickelback!!! That is another hardcore punk band. Look at the singers poodle hairdo and tell me that that isn't punk!! I dare ya.

  • jajajajajajajajajajaja nice nice

  • @ThrashedDeath Id reccomend Negative approach

  • @ThrashedDeath all the bands that guy said and Darkthrones "the cult of goliath" album. that and hiking metal punks forever. great song.

  • @ThrashedDeath Also there is Verbal Abuse, early Corrosion of Conformity, GISM, Dr. Know, Nausea, and there is a newer band from the bay area where I am from called Jesus Fucking Christ, that are worth checking out as well. Happy hunting!

  • @ThrashedDeath Anything crust punk. Skitsystem, Amebix, Doom, Nausea, Aus-Rotten, G.I.S.M., Black Breath...

  • @ThrashedDeath

    check aust rotten as well

  • @ThrashedDeath Dystopia, Phobia, Nausea, human waste, AMEBIX.

  • @ThrashedDeath Doom

  • @ThrashedDeath

    Rudimentary peni for sure man

  • @ThrashedDeath definetly GBH and WARFARE

  • @hoikevinhoi wow you guys, still suggesting bands after 2 years. I'm well on my feet with punk now. heh and yes GBH fucking rules.

  • @ThrashedDeath The bands that are most literally like this (i.e oldschool British hardcore) are The Exploited, GBH, Broken Bones and Chaos UK, with The Exploited easily being the best. Search for their song "Safe Below"

  • @ThrashedDeath dont forget Wolfbrigade ;) great d-beat crust punk band! STAY METAL \m/

  • Holy shit...so this is Discharge eh? It's so Thrash!

  • yes before metallica before slayer before anthrax there was discharge! GREAT PISSED OFF SHIT ! SHORT BUT TO THE POINT!

  • Absolutely correct. Before Discharge there was nothing. They spawned Thrash. I know, i saw them in 1986.

  • when metalica said there was nothing before them i almost pasted out of anger

  • I've seen half a dozen interviews where James points out that Discharge were the pioneers and not themselves.

  • Best hardcore punk album ever!!!!!

  • not the best, but one of the best

  • what do you think is better/?

  • @ANTICIMEX138 nah, it IS the best

  • i agree with this dude

  • Discharge is hailed in Thrash Metal circles, but this may be coming from an exclusively Hardcore punk fan.
