Pyramid Head was pointless in this game, much like the damn movie. And Pyramid Head is one of the original executioners and paying homage to the Red God. He was based off of an idea in the Silent Hill history. And he doesn't represent anything in Homecoming, because he doesn't do anything to indicate it ie chase James around the town. He was just there, nothing more, much like alot of the ideas in this game.....

All of these are subjective. From the marketing side I think they try to get new fans for the game, and lots of people didn't hear about the game before the movie. So, if they produce something which has actually nothing to do with the movie these newbies will not like it, the word spreads among them, and they will not buy it. As for the old fans: they'll buy it and play it whatever happens. Just some thought according to the fact, that what is a game for us, is just a source of income for them.

For the most part in my opinion the Japanese are a lot better at making horror games.

Homecoming was a good game but it was not even close as scary as the other SH games.

It did not have the really scary atmosphere the other games got.

Well, ever since the game came out, I feel like the outsider of Silent Hill fans. I honestly LOVED Homecoming. I can say that the movie references irritated me a lot, but the game, in my personal opinion (I might get murdered by the silent hill fans for saying this) has more right in the series than both SH4 And SHO.

While it's true that PH is also a manifestation of guilt who's reason for existance is punishment, the town only has the power to take the person's warped inner psyche and manifest monsters accordingly. Meaning, every person sees things in a different way. One persons idea of something might be completely different from anyone elses. PH was what James created from his own desires, from his own personal pain. Monsters should be made to fit Alex's thought patterns. Not Jame's.

Now that I have beaten the game, I truly enjoy it. I brings me back to the first game. The music is as awesome as always and the combat is pretty neat. I even enjoyed the story to this game. It is always best to play the game first before you started spewing your rants. Therefore, I do not always go by what people say b/c if it is something I would enjoy, I will buy it. Everyone has different opinions of what they like and don't like.

I do not see the point of making a video or ranting about a videogame without having to play it first. I love all SH games except for SH4. I hated the story, but that is my opinion. I have seen stuff from SH5 and it looks interesting. PH was James sexual frustration in SH2, but PH is also known as a "Punisher" if you have seen the paintings on the wall in SH2. So there is nothing wrong with seeing PH is SH5 because he is known as both the punisher and what James sees in the game.

Pyramid Head is a reference to Valtiel. not the other way around. And Pyramid Head is not just James's guilt manifested. Pyramid Head is a part of the town's history. I will tell you now, I beat the game today, Pyramid Head is there for a reason. SH 5 was a great game. I think its a great SH game as well. It isn't as good as 2, but it is better than 4. Just buy it. Play it, and give it a chance.

In Silent Hill Origins it shows your character, the track driver. Becoming or being made into Pyramid Head by someone unseen. I liked the other idea better myself. About it being James, but like I said in one of the ending in origins the truck driver is being made PH. If someone knows more about that please comment.

my point in the end is: you cant hate silent hill 5 simply because you saw pyramid head in the game, that is small detail and people are insanely mad about that. silent hill 2 was not about pyramid head was about james and mary, maria is the devil, maria is the one he faces in the end, maria is what he sees its what is punishing him. pyramid head is mere agent of town that is used torture james he doenst, necessarily belongs to james, (unless konami declared that and i didnt know).

Silent hill 2 is the best of the franchise, why? because of the story that, unlike the others games, which are centered on a ritual to awaken the Devil, is about judgment and redemption. pyramid head represented the judge, was he a product of James´s mind? yes! but so is everything that happens to people in Silent Hill 2. but the doesnt make pyramid head belong to james. If we see Silent Hill as a purgatory on earth, a place where people are a taken to be judge, pyramid could be on other games.

if you read up on ph the consensus before the movie and shv twisted it around and mashed him into their own little plot to appease the fans of the franchise was that he was a manifestation of james' guilt for what he did, punishing him by forcing him to watch maria die repeatedly and thus reliving mary's death, blatantly sexual due to james' his frustration with having a sick wife, and a phallic symbol to represent james' masculinity and the sexual desires that come with it.

so yes, pyramid head DOES belong to james and only james. everyone who is dragged into silent hill is punished by their own mind, they manifest their own demons, there is never any one reoccurring "monster" for anyone, even god takes on a different appearance for everyone who sees it. james remembered seeing the art of the town's executioners in the museum and manifested pyramid head as his punisher that way, ph wasn't a set character to reoccur for everyone else.

Butcher and PH do not share the same name and therefore, technically, they are not the same thing. Then again, James's PH is not the PH seen afterwards, but he bears the same resemblance James's one has. Why? I don't know :) I guess i kinda dislike the whole thing about the character becoming less unique.

Actually, this new Pyramid Head looks nearly...frick, EXACTLY like in the movie and very similar the arcade game. I actually looked pics up, and yes, the only difference is the knife! Holy mother of God! If this was a different franchise, that would be flat-out plagerism!

I have Jacob's ladder, and that scene is very similar. Dude let it go, I am a BIG fan of SH and I know PH is refrance to guilt and they made PH up for the game but in all he is suppose to be for the ex for the guilty, I understand you are pissed about some things but stand back and notice that the creators have no problem with the game as far as I have seen.
