I like this too but also the Maria Ewing version. The latter was a live performance. The bass bassoon solo in the Ewing version is better and precisely characterizes her emotions.
Thanks for posting the entire opera. Richard Strauss is a unique composer, this production does justice to his music. The wonderful Teresa Stratas is exquisite, her voice, her use of the body as Salome is graceful and passionate, heartbreaking when she's rejected, inflaming her to the terrible deed. I believe the subtitles might make the story more accessible but I'm not complaining.
