It says "simplifying", not solving. So the answer is 6(sqrt)2, not 8.loadsofnumbers. If you solve for his answer then you get the same as if you solved for the original question.

90 is 3*30, 30 is 3*10 and 10 is 5*2.. Therefore 90 is 3*3*5*2. Cause of the two 3s, the squareroot of 90 is 3*(squareroot of 5)*(squareroot of 2) [if we'd not split up 10 into 5*2, we'd get your teachers result 3*(squareroot of 10)]. Your "result" can be represented by 3*5*(squareroot of 2). Now it isn't hard to see, that yours (3*5*(squareroot of 2)) do NOT equals the real result 3*(SQUAREROOT of 5)*(squareroot of 2).
