  • I think Sylvia was always predisposed to suicide, but the fact that Assia killed herself too doesn't really cast Ted in a good light either...

  • Yes, this could have been a better movie. But it's still interesting.

  • The most frustrating thing about this movie is how close it gets to being great. All the sets, wardrobes, camerawork, acting, atmosphere is great--but the script does indeed suck. For any movie about writers, the script needs close attention.

But now the "definitive" Sylvia movie's been done, so we won't be getting the film she deserves!

  • This is a horrible movie. The actors may be good but the script's a mess. No author/poet quites their future works in everday life, as Sylvia does from The Bell Jar in the boat scene in Part 4. This is oversimplification, indeed. Not to mention it only focuses on the romance between Sylvia and Ted whereas Sylvia's work stemmed from so many other areas of her life, especially her childhood. Even if the movie was meant to be solely about the romance other aspects of her life should not be ignored.

  • I assumed you were canadian...

    Ha!

  • this film is an over simplification of a genius and it is an extremely dull over simplification if i may say so. i made it this far but i will not watch it anymore.

  • i cant agree with you there

the actors have subtleties about them that i love when watching in this movie--especially with gwyneth paltrow, her voice, and the script seems quite good too

the genius may not seem obvious, but in my opinion, that's part of the genius. it takes a while to enjoy it, i'll admit.

  • Albus Dumbledore?!

  • @jonesmcfly1 youre right! 0-0 wow lol odd

  • It just really hurts me that when she was happy in the beginning of her marriage she was uninspired. And it was only in complete loss of her lover that she found God's voice within her.

  • that old guy just stole the movie

  • Ted Hughes was a HUGE PRICK, good poet though.

  • Its a coincedence you mention that because Ted Hughes apparntly had a huge prick.
